I couldn't help but glance down and found that I could vaguely see the ground below, which seemed quite spacious.

Although I was a little scared by the sound, I was also very curious about what it was and why Grandpa and Yanling couldn't hear it, but I could. Soon we reached the end of the stairs and finally didn't have to endure them anymore. I was about to throw up from looking at the stairs for so long.

The space below was just as spacious as I had imagined, and the surrounding scenery was no longer the tree trunks I had seen at the beginning, but rather a place that resembled a mine.

Standing in the mine, I carefully sensed the sound and realized it was coming from directly in front of us.

This seems to be the entrance to a mine, and directly in front of us is a particularly narrow entrance. Although it is narrow, it is only narrow in the context of the entire mine; to us, it is like a cave.

Behind us was a canyon that seemed to lead nowhere, but the whole place looked like a small, enclosed space, and the staircase had just been built into the outside through a passageway.

There are noticeably fewer crystals here than above, so the lighting feels a bit dim, making it difficult to see clearly what's in front of me.

The sound I heard from where I was standing was almost deafening, as if there were thousands of troops inside the cave, about to charge at me, which made me turn pale.

"Listen, there's a sound coming from that cave, the same sound I heard at the beginning!" I said to Grandpa and Yanling, covering my ears. The sound was terrifying, as if it went straight into my brain, making me feel panicked and confused.

Grandpa looked at me and didn't seem to be lying, but he still didn't hear anything. He had been here several times before, but he had never heard anything before, so he couldn't help but become wary.

"Although I don't know what's strange about it, you have to be careful and follow me. We'll go in and see what's going on!" Grandpa said to us with a serious expression.

Upon hearing this, we all became extremely alert. Shui Yanling even secretly sensed the atmosphere inside the cave, but she couldn't sense anything at all. It was as if something was blocking her energy flow, preventing her from directly observing the situation inside.

The temperature here is very high, but my back is covered in cold sweat. This unknown terror is what's truly frightening.

Grandpa took the lead and slowly made his way towards the cave entrance. I walked second, holding the jade pendant in my hand, and made sure Yanling followed behind, in case she encountered any danger.

We slowly entered the cave. The cave was neither too big nor too small, just big enough for three people to walk side by side. Under the illumination of the crystal, we could see clearly what was ahead.

However, out of caution, we did not change formation and continued to move forward in that position.

Soon we could see the cave entrance ahead. For some reason, the entrance was emitting a blue light, and the light was quite bright, seemingly larger and purer than the light from other places.

It didn't seem like the light was emitted by various colored crystals, but rather like the light was emitted entirely by a single blue crystal.

Grandpa crawled straight out of the hole, and just as I was about to follow, I noticed that he had turned pale and quickly crawled back in. He then pulled me and Shui Yanling behind him, signaling us not to speak.

Seeing Grandpa's expression, we became a little nervous and quickly found a huge rock to hide behind.

The exit of this cave is strange, shaped like a trumpet, and we happened to be hiding on the very edge. This rock completely blocked our view, so even if someone tried to enter from the opening we had just come in through, they wouldn't see us.

There's a gap in the rock, through which we can see what's inside the cave.

Just that one look made my face turn pale instantly, and my whole body started trembling. My grandfather whispered to us, "Don't make a sound."

Looking through the crevice, the outside opened up into a small canyon, similar to the one outside the cave entrance. The only difference was that at the very end of this canyon was a huge cliff fault, as if cutting the canyon in two.

Instead of the blue crystal stones I had expected, a pale blue mist emerged from the cracks in the rocks ahead and slowly crept towards us at an astonishing speed.

The blue light we saw from the outside was this fog. Before long, fog began to swirl around us from the knees down, and it was as if a layer of fog had covered our vision. It was also rising continuously, as if it was about to drift outside.

This wasn't exactly terrifying. Then we heard a series of horn calls coming from one end of the rift, melodious and resonant, echoing through the rift for several times.

This is the same scream I heard, and even Grandpa and Shui Yanling can hear it now.

Grandpa stared at the situation inside, his face pale, while Shui Yanling's expression was also extremely grim; she hadn't expected to encounter such a situation here.

Chapter Sixty-Seven: A Chill

Countless shadowy figures, following the sound of the stag horns, lined up in a long procession and appeared in the mist at the end of the rift valley.

Looking at the situation before me, I felt utterly terrified. The cold sweat that had been covering me suddenly vanished, replaced by a chill running down my spine.

"What the hell is this thing?" I asked my grandfather in terror.
