Stealing Jade and Leaving Fragrance (Pseudo-Su Yue)

She plucked a few willow twigs and happily wove something in her hands, occasionally trying on the hat-like thing on her head, only to tear it off again after a while, laughing heartily. A little while later, she beckoned to Young Master Li, signaling him to squat down in front of her, and then placed the completed willow hat on his head.

Young Master Li chuckled. He walked to the riverbank, looked at his reflection, and found it utterly ridiculous. He quickly shook his head, took off the hat, went over, and put it back on Miss Chen's head.

That's perfect. Her soft, messy black hair, her light-colored clothes, and the green willows create a fresh and lovely scene.

Feeling exhilarated, he turned his head and let out a soft sigh. Suddenly, as if remembering something, he turned back and pointed to the opposite bank, saying:

"Those willow trees over there were planted by our family."

Miss Chen looked at him with some confusion.

Seeing this, Young Master Li lowered his head and guided the other person's gaze to the opposite embankment: "That row of willow trees is it. Back then, we needed to reinforce the embankment, but we didn't have enough stones, so the prefectural government suggested that every household plant a tree. I planted a willow tree back then, which was only as thick as my forearm. Now, after so many years, it has become a lush green canopy."

Miss Chen seemed lost in thought, her eyes filled with envy and longing. She turned her head, gently pursed her lips, revealing two deep dimples on her cheeks.

She is a quiet yet cheerful girl. It is said that the deeper a girl's dimples, the more captivating her smile.

Young Master Li thought to himself in a daze.

What followed was nothing more than him rambling on about trivial matters. Unable to get a word in edgewise, Miss Chen listened quietly, occasionally letting out a silent, lowered laugh. Her long eyelashes fluttered, as if her laughter could fly away.

What an endearing woman, Young Master Li sighed inwardly.

Less than half an hour later, the two children she had sent out earlier returned, panting, with the boy in blue. The boy in blue immediately became wary upon seeing outsiders. However, seeing his elder sister's relaxed expression and smiling face, he relaxed.

"It's windy here, let's go back." He picked up the coat his sister had draped over her legs and put it over her shoulders, speaking gently. Miss Chen nodded and bowed slightly to Young Master Li.

Young Master Li quickly returned the greeting, feeling a slight reluctance in his heart.

I just wish I could spend a little more time with her.

Who knew that this idea would actually come true? As soon as the young man in blue pushed the wheelchair, there was a "creak" sound, which made Ms. Chen in the wheelchair stumble, followed by a "squeak, squeak" sound.

The wheelchair's axle was stuck in a ditch. It had recently rained, so the soil was very loose, but some old stones were also wedged in, trapping the wheelchair and rendering it immobile. Ms. Chen panicked and tried to rub the axle, but it wouldn't budge. With both her brother and sister exerting force, her brother misjudged the situation, causing the wheelchair to lurch forward, and Ms. Chen was thrown forward.

"Watch out!" Young Master Li didn't know what to do either. Seeing that the person had fallen, he immediately rushed over without thinking and caught Miss Chen in his arms.

The boy in blue was taken aback for a moment, then came to his senses and said with a hint of impatience, "Help my sister up."

"ah?"

"Help my sister up! I'll get the axle out!" the boy in blue said fiercely, looking as if he had no choice but to be taken advantage of.

Young Master Li felt his heart pounding like a drum. Looking at the uneasy Miss Chen in his arms, he hesitated for a long time before blushing and reaching out to Miss Chen's slender calves. With a gentle effort, he lifted her up.

Perhaps because he had never held anyone or done any hard work since he was a child, holding such a delicate girl made his heart pound, his face flush, and him pant heavily.

Upon close contact, one could faintly sense a delicate fragrance emanating from the other person, not strong, yet refreshing and soothing. He could recognize it as Qimen incense from southern Anhui, tranquil and lingering, its scent not immediately noticeable but lasting for years.

It smells so sweet and is incredibly refreshing.

He was as if drunk, thinking this in a daze, when suddenly he heard a fierce voice: "Hey, put it down!"

"ah?"

"Put my sister down!"

Young Master Li then suddenly realized that Miss Chen in his arms had already turned her head away, not daring to look at him, her face flushed and her body trembling. Extremely embarrassed, Young Master Li quickly put Miss Chen down, wiping the sweat from his face.

After settling his sister in, the boy in blue glared angrily at him: "You lecher!"

Although Young Master Li felt wronged, he was also burning with desire. Miss Chen pursed her lips and turned her face away.

Seeing the siblings about to leave, Young Master Li felt a pang of loss, but suddenly a surge of courage rose within him: "Miss Chen, could you please give me your willow-leaf hat?"

Miss Chen blinked, looking at him with a puzzled expression. After a short while, she gently removed the hair ornament from her head and slowly handed it to him.

"Take care," she mouthed silently, leaving Young Master Li momentarily at a loss for words.

The sound of wheels faded into the distance. He stood behind, watching the two figures disappear into the distance, feeling a deep sense of loss. He returned home feeling somewhat dizzy and disoriented, clutching the willow-leaf hat in his hand, lost in thought. After a long while, he brought it to his nose and gently inhaled its sweet fragrance, which instantly filled his heart, intoxicating him.

In my hazy consciousness, all I could feel was the sensation of holding that person in my arms just now.
