Sure enough, they're all a bunch of spoiled brats!
Thinking about the live stream, Sister Bai was actually hoping that Commander He would suddenly appear and say, "Master Lin, something terrible has happened!" But that was just wishful thinking; Sister Bai didn't place any hope on Commander He. She took out her compass and stood outside the window, scanning all directions. The compass could determine which direction had the strongest yin energy. She could then go and find those places with the strongest yin energy, and then the live stream would be ready.
But when she opened the window, the rain outside was getting heavier and heavier, and summer rains often come with thunder. Sister Bai used her compass to measure the surroundings, and it soon pointed directly west. Sister Bai understood; she could go for a stroll in that direction on Sunday. Hopefully, she'd encounter someone with some skill; otherwise, Sister Bai wouldn't even bother with her livestream and would just shut it down.
However, to Sister Bai's surprise, after a thunderclap resounded through the sky, the compass needle suddenly changed direction and pointed towards the front door of Sister Bai's house!
Sister Bai looked over suspiciously. Just as the thunderclap struck, another bolt of lightning seemed to tear the sky apart in the distance. But after the brief flash of light, Sister Bai's eyes seemed to see a person standing at the front door of her house!
The person, wearing a raincoat, stood upright, but when the lightning disappeared, the person in the doorway vanished as well. This made Sister Bai squint, thinking she had just imagined it, and the compass needle once again pointed due west.
Sister Bai took the powerful flashlight and shone it on the door again, but to her disappointment, there was no one there.
"Was I just seeing things? But why did the compass needle point to the door? And why did it point there so suddenly? That means the other party must be a very powerful person."
Sister Bai searched around but still couldn't find a trace of anyone. She even checked the doorway but couldn't find any footprints, which might have been washed away by the rain.
Sister Bai was too lazy to search any further. After pasting two Soul-Splitting Talismans on the door, she went back inside. If it was an evil spirit, the talismans would be enough to deal with it. If it was something more powerful, at least Sister Bai would be able to detect it immediately.
However, just as Sister Bai returned to the house and settled down on the sofa, the doorbell rang!
Chapter 108 Seeing Through!
The ringing of the doorbell brought Bai Jie's already troubled mind back to the forefront.
Su Mo was almost asleep, clutching a bag of potato chips, when she heard the alarm ring. She opened her eyes and looked at Sister Bai curiously, asking, "Brother Bai, who else is coming so late?"
Sister Bai said she didn't know, then got up to open the door. She picked up an umbrella; the rain outside still hadn't stopped, and in fact, it seemed to be getting heavier.
When Bai Jie stepped outside and saw a man in a raincoat standing there, her eyes narrowed. But she didn't panic. She walked across the yard to the gate, and upon closer inspection, she was utterly astonished—it was Hu Dongwei!
"Shouldn't you be going home? Why are you here?" Sister Bai asked with a smile. Hu Dongwei grinned and said, "My brother was just cremated today, and I was planning to leave tomorrow. But I felt it wouldn't be right not to come and thank you after all the help you've given us and even saved my life."
Actually, it wasn't late, only a little past nine o'clock, but Sister Bai still smiled and asked, "Why don't you just call? It's so inconvenient on a rainy night."
"I don't have your phone number."
"If you don't have my phone number, how did you find my house?"
“I met Brigade Commander He, and he told me this. He also went to the funeral home today when I was cremated.”
Bai asked a question, and Hu Dongwei answered. Bai smiled and nodded, saying, "I've been so busy talking to you at the door, come in."
Hu Dongwei followed her inside, carrying some fruit and gifts. Su Mo stood at the door, greeted Hu Dongwei with a smile when she saw him, and then went to pour tea.
After accepting the tea, Hu Dongwei said thank you and asked, "Mr. Lin, your house is quite big. Did you buy it or rent it?"
"I just bought it a few days ago. By the way...did you come to my house just now and then leave?" Sister Bai asked him. Hu Dongwei frowned and said, "No, I just arrived. If I had come, I definitely would have bothered you!"
"Haha, what's the trouble? I know you're in a hurry, and it's not that late," Sister Bai said politely, though Su Mo thought to herself, "Normally you'd be in bed by now!"
Hu Dongwei seemed to have come to visit Sister Bai, his eyes fixed on her house. Although the house was indeed very nice and unique, Sister Bai glanced at him and then said to Su Mo, "Su Mo, was the tea you put for Mr. Hu the packet in my room?"
“No, it’s just on the water dispenser.” Su Mo shook her head, and Sister Bai smiled and said, “Mr. Hu, I don’t usually have anyone coming here. I have some good tea, Su Mo, it’s in the cabinet in my room, go get it and let Mr. Hu try it.”
"No need, Mr. Lin, that would be too much trouble."
Sister Bai quickly said it was nothing, and Su Mo went upstairs to get the tea. Hu Dongwei smiled sheepishly, and Sister Bai also got up and said, "Mr. Hu, please have a seat. I'm going to the restroom."
"OK."
The moment Sister Bai stood up, Su Mo turned around to look at her, wondering to herself, "When did Brother Bai become so polite to people? I've never seen him act like this even when he's met someone like Commander He. It's really strange!"
