Hearing Bai Jie's slightly inappropriate voice, Su Mo couldn't help but pinch him. Bai Jie didn't cry out in pain and just chuckled. Su Mo still fed him a piece of watermelon.
But just then, Qian Xiaohao came out of the room with his phone. His hesitant expression made Sister Bai ask curiously, "Is there something you want to say?"
"It's like this, Brother Xuan. Although I've only been following you for a short time, I already know a lot more than before. Besides, being by your side means I don't encounter any powerful people, and they don't need me. If I want to improve my strength, it's impossible to stay under your wing all the time, so I want to go out and explore! I haven't been home for a long time, and even though no one's home anymore, I still want to go back and see them!"
Chapter 103 Intricate Connections!
"Are you leaving?"
Qian Xiaohao never considered leaving Sister Bai, but what he said was true; he had figured things out on his own step by step.
He has the unparalleled culinary master as his mentor, while Qian Xiaohao, though currently lacking in cultivation and time, believes that practical experience is far superior to simply staying indoors reading books!
The Celestial Master isn't a martial arts practitioner; without actually facing the claw, it's all for nothing. Martial arts practice involves sparring, though. Although Sister Bai has Xiao Zhen and Chu Renmei by her side, she can't very well let Qian Xiaohao spar with Qi Qi.
Seeing Qian Xiaohao nod solemnly, Sister Bai smiled and said, "Since this is your decision, then go ahead. Be careful, and come back if things don't go well."
"Thank you, Brother Xuan. Phew... I was worried you'd think I was all talk and no action, thinking I was going to go hunting for claws after only a few days of learning!" Qian Xiaohao scratched his head sheepishly. Sister Bai said, "Our sect doesn't have many rules, but there's one thing: don't be afraid of anything. If you're afraid, you'll never do well! Alright, I'll go prepare some things for you. When you encounter something you can't handle while hunting for claws, these things can save your life."
Qian Xiaohao, having been influenced by Sister Bai, immediately perked up at the mention of good stuff. Sister Bai hadn't prepared much—just some talismans, including Soul-Suppressing Talismans and Soul-Splitting Talismans, but the most important being Soul-Destroying Talismans. However, Sister Bai only prepared five Soul-Destroying Talismans for him, each containing only four types of magic arrays! Although Sister Bai had succeeded once with a Soul-Destroying Talisman containing six magic arrays, it would take some time to succeed again.
After giving all those items to Qian Xiaohao, the latter said with great delight, "Brother Xuan, I will definitely not let you down!"
Sister Bai kicked him and said, "Stop your damn nagging, I'm going to sleep. People just can't help getting sleepy late at night. Ugh, this is a problem that needs treatment!"
Su Mo listened with utter disdain, practically saying, "You've always had a lazy pig's disease!"
Sister Bai went to sleep, still holding Qiqi, and soon fell asleep herself. The next day, Qian Xiaohao embarked on his journey home. His first stop was his hometown. Back in Jiang City, he was so down on his luck that he had to make do with braising sauce. Now he was going back to make something of himself!
Sister Bai saw him off to his car, though she was still a little worried. But she figured that surviving such a close call meant good fortune was on his side; Qian Xiaohao had forced himself to die and hadn't even died yet, so Sister Bai thought he was pretty lucky.
After seeing Qian Xiaohao off, Sister Bai got into the car. Su Mo sat in the passenger seat with a mischievous grin on her face, which made Sister Bai narrow her eyes slightly.
"Su Mo, are you plotting some insidious, cunning, and inhumane scheme?" Sister Bai asked. Su Mo subconsciously replied, "Yes, I'm going to... Ah, who are you calling insidious, cunning, and inhumane? Do you believe I'll drag you shopping right now?!"
Sister Bai's mouth dropped open in shock, as if she had witnessed a monstrous claw from centuries ago. Su Mo laughed triumphantly, nuzzling Sister Bai's arm reassuringly, and said with a smile, "Look how scared you are! I was just thinking that now that Brother Hao has gone out to hone his skills, Sister Bai, I'm your only female disciple now. No one will be competing with me for your master position anymore, so you have to teach me well!"
"When did I ever say I'd take you as my apprentice!" Sister Bai exclaimed speechlessly. Su Mo immediately opened the car door and said, "Then I'm going shopping. I won't go back tonight, and I'll let evil claws entangle me and die a horrible death!"
Seeing Su Mo get out of the car, Sister Bai said, "Then you can get out. If you really run into Claw, you'll definitely come to me first."
Su Mo, who had just gotten off the bus, plopped back down and said with a mischievous grin, "Yeah, I might as well stick with you. So be nice to me from now on and teach me some skills. Otherwise, every time I want to go shopping, I'll have to drag you along."
Bai Jie was completely confused by Su Mo's explanation. After going around in circles, they still ended up talking about teaching her how to solve cases. Bai Jie smiled helplessly and said, "Let's go home first. Anyway, you won't leave even if I tell you to."
Su Mo gave a heavy "hmm" and said, "It's good that you know."
Sister Bai stepped on the gas, and the car slowly drove home. But Sister Bai realized that today was really not a good day. As soon as she arrived at her doorstep, she saw a familiar figure looking at her expectantly.
As soon as the car stopped, Brigade Commander He walked over and said with a smile, "Master Lin, where have you been? I've been waiting for almost half an hour."
"Um, I just took Xiao Hao back to his hometown. Commander He, is there something you need?" Sister Bai asked casually, though what she really wanted to say was, "Can't you just give me a few days of peace and quiet?"
Commander He said calmly, "Let's talk inside. I pulled up the information on the body from last night and brought it here for you to see."
Sister Bai nodded slightly and ushered Commander He inside. Su Mo brought Sister Bai and Commander He a cup of tea, which Commander He accepted with a thank you, and then said, "The deceased's name was Hu Donghai, from Jiaozuo City. Strangely, however, we couldn't find any record of him working or doing business in Jiang City..."
