Chapter 504 Admit You're Sick
Fang Shuang neither shook her head nor nodded, and sat down on the sofa with Old Scar, saying, "I was supposed to come back yesterday, but I encountered some puppets on the way and was delayed for one night."
Old Scar frowned: "Encountered a puppet? What happened?"
“I don’t know how to tell you this. Last night, Wanzhuang and I walked into the alley and were suddenly surrounded by those puppets. It wasn’t until this morning that they realized what was happening and woke up, and we were able to escape.”
Old Scar didn't understand: "Wait a minute, what do you mean by 'they suddenly realized it this morning'?"
Fang Shuang added, "You might not believe it, but those puppets are all ordinary residents living nearby, with different family backgrounds and identities, and they have absolutely no connection with each other."
Old Scar clearly didn't believe it, but he didn't question it either. He then asked, "It's a person? Impossible, right?"
Wanzhuang then chimed in, "Indeed, I've always found it strange. Puppets are not uncommon, but most of them are made from corpses, like the corpse-driving in Xiangxi. But using living people as puppets is truly unheard of."
Upon hearing Wanzhuang's words, Fang Shuang seemed to suddenly remember something and asked abruptly, "What if those people weren't puppets made using ghostly methods?"
Wanzhuang was taken aback: "What?"
Old Scar was also completely confused by what Fang Shuang said.
Fang Shuang then explained in detail, "What I mean is, there's a method for using corpses to make puppets, but you can't use the same method for people to make puppets, can you?"
Old Scar suddenly realized: "You mean..."
Before Old Scar could finish speaking, Fang Shuang interrupted, "Yes, it's hypnosis. I've mentioned it before."
Ke Wanzhuang hadn't yet realized what hypnosis had to do with puppets, and looked at the two people in front of her with a puzzled expression.
Seeing her like this, Fang Shuang didn't say much, picked up the phone and made an appointment with a psychologist.
"Let's go see a doctor." After hanging up the phone, Fang Shuang called to the two of them and said this.
Old Scar and Wanzhuang followed him to a small mental health clinic.
There weren't many nurses or patients inside, so as soon as Fang Shuang and her group entered, a nurse came up to ask them questions.
"Hello, may I ask who you are...?"
The nurse stopped talking abruptly and looked at them with a puzzled expression.
Old Scar stepped forward with a serious expression and said, "Hello, we brought my brother to see a doctor."
No sooner had Old Scar finished speaking than Fang Shuang, as if angrily asserting her presence, said jokingly and unhappily, "I've told you so many times, I'm not sick."
Old Scar gave him a disapproving look and said nothing more, only instructing the nurse to take him inside.
The nurse looked Fang Shuang up and down carefully, and said softly, "Sir, please come in with me." In the instant he turned around, Fang Shuang saw a hint of regret flash in the nurse's eyes.
The nurse was probably thinking: "Tsk, he's a pretty good-looking young man, okay, he's got a mental problem."
Fang Shuang couldn't help but feel that her idea was a bit underhanded.
Finally, Fang Shuang followed the nurse to the examination room, where a man in a white doctor's coat was sitting. He looked to be almost 30 years old and was fairly good-looking.
The person was looking at their phone, seemingly engrossed in something, with a carefree smile on their face. Upon seeing someone, they suppressed their smile, offering a slight smirk. The person then said cheerfully, "Hello, my name is Yang Qijia, and I am a psychologist."
As they were talking, the nurse went out, and Wanzhuang came in, saying that she was worried about Fang Shuang and asked Lao Ba to wait outside.
Fang Shuang felt that if she was going to put on an act, she should do it properly, so after hearing Yang Qijia's words, she said coldly, "I'm not sick."
Yang Qijia couldn't help but find it amusing: "If I'm not sick, why would I come here?"
Fang Shuang pouted: "It's all because of them. They insisted that I was sick, and I couldn't argue with them, so I came with them."
Upon hearing this, Yang Qijia looked at Wanzhuang.
Wanzhuang then said, "Hello Dr. Yang, I am his sister."
Yang Qijia nodded politely, no longer asking Fang Shuang, but instead asked Wanzhuang, "What symptoms does your brother have? Or, have he been behaving strangely?"
At first, Wanzhuang didn't react. After blinking a few times, she realized what was happening and said, "Strange behavior? You know what, it really is."
Yang Qijia became interested: "Oh? Tell me about it, Miss."
"You might not believe it, but my brother would run away at night, and when we found him the next day, he didn't know what he came out of. This happened for several days in a row."
Yang Qijia listened, his expression unreadable. After a long while, he finally said, "So, it must be intermittent amnesia."
Wanzhuang quickly shook her head: "No, no, no, if it were intermittent amnesia, we wouldn't have come here."
As she spoke, Wanzhuang began to seriously make up a story.
Wanzhuang told Yang Qijia that for about half a month, every night, Fang Shuang would go out on his own to steal other people's things, rummage through trash cans, sleep in garbage dumps, and even scare other people. But every morning, he would wake up and have no idea what he had done the night before.
Yang Qijia listened, and although there wasn't much strangeness, it still sounded somewhat inhuman. After all, Fang Shuang was a living, breathing person. If it was really as Wan Zhuang said, running out in the middle of the night to rummage through trash cans and sleeping in garbage dumps, it really did seem a bit like a mental illness.
