Liao Zhen's expression brightened, and he said, "From now on, you must be careful in your actions, lest you fall into Haotian's trap. If anything goes wrong outside, come to Penglai to find me. If there are things you can't handle, your master will support you." Only then did Miao Jun realize how good her teacher was to her, and at this moment, her heart truly belonged to Penglai. Yang Jian was inherently cunning, shrewd, and deeply intelligent, and somewhat suspicious. Even when Xuan Tian personally taught him, he couldn't truly win his heart. Only now did he realize the benefits of Penglai Island.
Miao Jun said, "Thank you, teacher. From now on, I am Yang Jian." He turned to look at his mother, then said to Liao Zhen, "Teacher, please take care of my mother." Liao Zhen smiled and said, "Don't worry, nothing will happen to your mother on my Penglai Island. You can go without worry." Yang Jian bowed again, then left with his slender waist.
Meanwhile, Haotian, having witnessed through the Haotian Mirror from the Lingxiao Palace that Xuantian had indeed taken Yang Jian and his mother away, was secretly furious. However, unwilling to offend Xuantian, he intended to let the matter drop. But somehow the news leaked out to the Chan and Jie sects. The Chan sect, already somewhat at odds with Xuantian's followers, seized this opportunity to sow discord between Haotian and Penglai Island, spreading the story widely so that Haotian would lose face and clash with Xuantian's followers, making the situation more entertaining for them.
However, Haotian, who became the ruler of the Heavenly Court, was no fool. Although he knew that the disciples of the two sects were trying to sow discord, he couldn't say anything. But it was impossible for him to offend Xuantian. He would rather offend other saints than offend Xuantian. There were two reasons for this. First, Xuantian had treated him quite well in the past, so Haotian often remembered his kindness. Second, it was because of Xuantian's cultivation level. Haotian didn't know how powerful the other saints were, but he knew Xuantian's cultivation level very well. Back then, when he and Yaochi served the Dao Ancestor, although their cultivation levels were not high, their ability to judge people was quite high. Haotian couldn't see Xuantian's cultivation level back then, and only thought that he was like Dao Ancestor Hongjun. Now that Xuantian had become a saint, and the others were also saints, Haotian could only feel this way about Xuantian. It was an indescribable feeling, so Haotian was very wary of him.
As the ruler of the Heavenly Court, Haotian was not one to be constantly mocked by these sectarian cultivators. He pondered, "Although I am appointed Heavenly Emperor by the mandate of the Dao Ancestor, I cannot control the disciples of the Chan and Jie sects. Now these disciples are mocking me, and I can't do anything about it. Furthermore, I lack powerful cultivators, which is extremely inconvenient. It would be better to go to the Zixiao Palace and ask the Dao Ancestor for a solution." With this thought, Haotian removed his dragon robe, donned a Daoist robe, and headed towards the Zixiao Palace. He soon reached the edge of chaos, unleashed his protective divine light, and flew towards the Zixiao Palace. While others who had not reached the Saintly realm would be unable to find the Zixiao Palace, Haotian, as the attendant of the Dao Ancestor Hongjun and having resided there for countless years, could easily locate it. Haotian carefully avoided the ceaseless turmoil of earth, water, fire, and wind that had raged since the beginning of time, and arrived before the Zixiao Palace.
The Jade Emperor, having straightened his robes, knelt before the palace gate and kowtowed, saying, "Disciple Haotian requests an audience with the Dao Ancestor." After a long while, a faint voice came from within the palace, "Haotian, what brings you here?" The Jade Emperor looked up and replied, "Disciple has been ordered by the Dao Ancestor to establish the Heavenly Court, but we lack sufficient manpower to demonstrate the Heavenly Court's majesty and to control the cultivators of the primordial world. I have come here to inform the Dao Ancestor, hoping that the Dao Ancestor can bestow a good solution." The Dao Ancestor Hongjun said, "I already know about this matter. You may go now. I will handle it myself." After saying this, he remained silent.
Seeing that the Dao Ancestor had stopped speaking, the Jade Emperor rode a cloud back to the Heavenly Court.
The Three Gods List
After the Jade Emperor left, Hongjun Daozu sent out several jade talismans that flew towards the locations of the saints.
Before long, the sages all received the message from the Dao Ancestor, and they all stopped preaching, rode the clouds to Zixiao Palace, and awaited the Dao Ancestor's decree.
After the sages entered the Zixiao Palace, they greeted each other and then found a place to sit down, in the same arrangement as when they first listened to the teachings.
Lao Jun was a little embarrassed to see Xuan Tian, but he was thick-skinned. After silently reciting the "Pretending to be cool" technique a few times, he closed his eyes and wandered into the void, looking as if nothing had happened.
Xuan Tian ignored the others. He knew why the Dao Ancestor had summoned everyone, and since he wasn't worried, he sat down to the side.
Although the other sages had questions, seeing that everyone else was doing the same thing, they also sat up straight, like good students.
Suddenly, Xuan Tian opened his eyes and said to everyone, "Our teacher has arrived. Please rise to greet him." He then stood up to welcome Hong Jun.
Laozi was the first among the other sages to realize what was happening, while the others followed suit. They were all inwardly amazed by Xuantian's profound cultivation. They hadn't even sensed Hongjun's arrival when Xuantian had already spoken.
Sure enough, just as everyone rose to greet him, Hongjun appeared on the prayer mat, just as he had when he preached before. The aura around him was obscure and difficult to discern, as if surrounded by the boundless Great Dao. Xuantian sighed again, feeling that the gap between him and Hongjun was widening as his cultivation deepened. The saints quickly and respectfully greeted him: "Teacher."
Hongjun remained expressionless and said, "I have summoned you three brothers here for three reasons. First, Haotian just came to see me and said that the Heavenly Court is lacking in personnel and cannot effectively manage the beings of the Three Realms. I wish to have the disciples of the Human, Chan, and Jie sects obey him and assist him in managing the Three Realms. Are you willing to lend a hand?" The Three Pure Ones were all taken aback upon hearing this, and all resented Haotian for meddling. The previous dispatch of people to the Heavenly Court was actually for the sake of the sect's succession. Now was the perfect opportunity to spread the teachings. If they sent people to the Heavenly Court, it would mean they would become Haotian's subordinates, working shifts every day without freedom. If the disciples of their sects entered the Heavenly Court, there would be fewer people to spread the teachings in the mortal realm, which would be a loss rather than a gain.
