The four bid farewell to Xuan Tian and headed towards the underworld.
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva suddenly appeared in the cycle of reincarnation in Hell, walking along the road to the underworld, following the clamoring army of ghosts. Looking at the ghosts around him, Ksitigarbha sighed to himself: "No wonder the Buddha said that when Buddhism spread eastward, it must use the cycle of reincarnation as a fortress. If so many ghosts could be liberated, what immense merit that would be!"
In no time, they arrived at Meng Po's place by the Naihe Bridge. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva glanced at Meng Po, and then flew across the Naihe Bridge.
Finally, they arrived at the foot of Yin Mountain. Long ago, when Houtu, the ancestral witch, transformed into the cycle of hell, she used the Netherworld Blood Sea as her foundation. However, considering that the lineage of the Netherworld Cult of the Styx Ancestor within the Netherworld Blood Sea could not be severed, she closed the gates of hell on the fourteenth day of the seventh month each year. This allowed the evil spirits unwilling to be reincarnated to be drawn by the remaining malevolent energy of heaven and earth within the Netherworld Blood Sea, entering it and being refined into Netherworld Cult members by the Styx Ancestor.
However, there was only one day left. How could all the hungry ghosts in hell enter the Netherworld Blood Sea? Those evil ghosts who did not enter the Netherworld Blood Sea sensed the malevolent energy of heaven and earth in the Netherworld Blood Sea and gathered on a small hillside at the junction of the Netherworld Blood Sea and the Reincarnation Hell. Over time, this became the place with the strongest malevolent energy of heaven and earth on the Yin Mountain side, even more concentrated than the Netherworld Blood Sea.
When Ksitigarbha arrived at Yinshan, it was the thirtieth day of the seventh month. The gates of the cycle of reincarnation and hell had just closed. With Ksitigarbha's abilities, how could he not see that this place was an excellent place to deliver the souls of the dead? Ksitigarbha then began reciting Buddhist scriptures as he walked towards the summit of Yinshan. Strangely enough, with each word he uttered, a golden light shot out. The souls that came into contact with this light cried out and flew straight westward.
Ksitigarbha finally arrived at the top of Yinshan Mountain. Just as he was about to make a great vow, he suddenly saw six people standing on Yinshan Mountain. Well, to be precise, these six people looked more like people from the Western Religion, that is, Buddhism.
These six people were the six people that Xuan Tian enlightened with the innate spiritual treasure, the Sea-Stabilizing Divine Pearl, and were known as the Six Great Venerable Ones of Rebirth.
Although Xuantian was not as knowledgeable about Buddhism as the two saints, Jieyin and Zhunti, he understood the basic principles. As the saying goes, "If one dharma is clear, all dharmas are understood." Xuantian already had this foundation, and he had also discussed it with Jieyin and Zhunti. It can be said that Xuantian had not learned Ksitigarbha's Buddhism as well as he had.
These six Venerable Ones were originally transformed by Xuan Tian using the Sea-Stabilizing Pearl. Back then, Xuan Tian incorporated the Sea-Stabilizing Pearl into his physical body to increase its strength. It can be said that the Sea-Stabilizing Pearl was almost a part of Xuan Tian, as he was enlightened by it, but there was also a significant spiritual connection between them.
Upon seeing Ksitigarbha arrive, the six Venerable Ones of Rebirth glanced at him and continued chanting the pirated "Rebirth Mantra".
Countless golden lights shone from the six Venerable Ones of Rebirth, and with the sound of the "Rebirth Mantra," the golden lights went toward the evil spirits on Yin Mountain. These evil spirits were people with heavy sins who could not enter the cycle of reincarnation, and could not even enter the eighteen levels of hell. Their resentment was too heavy, so they stayed on Yin Mountain to receive the baptism of the Buddha's teachings from the six Venerable Ones of Rebirth until the karma in their bodies was exhausted, and only then could they enter the cycle of reincarnation in the underworld.
Heaven's way is impartial; good and evil are rewarded accordingly. The causes of past lives bear the fruits of present lives. Within this netherworld are eighteen levels of hell, which judge the deeds of all beings in their previous lives. Those who do good ascend to the immortal realm; those who are loyal are reborn into a noble realm; those who are filial are reborn into a blessed realm; those who are fair are reborn into the human realm; those who accumulate virtue are reborn into a wealthy realm; and those who are wicked are reborn into the ghost realm. However, sentient beings are foolish and ignorant, unaware of the cycle of Heaven's way and the principle of cause and effect. All actions are based on one's own will; those who do not accumulate good deeds and disregard life and death remain forever in hell, suffering endless torment and suffering. Without this position, no matter how vast the underworld, it would one day be filled with evil spirits.
Therefore, the position of guiding the souls of the dead is of great importance. The two Western Saints had long harbored ambitions for it, but they had never dared to make a move. After all, the West is not the East. Xuan Tian is, after all, an Eastern Saint. Even if other Saints have conflicts with him, they are unwilling to see him being bullied. Besides, there are not many people who can bully Xuan Tian.
At this time, taking advantage of the flourishing of Buddhism, Jieyin and Zhunti saw an opportunity. In an era where sages did not appear, the Western Sect was at its strongest, with five Quasi-Saints and a large number of Bodhisattvas, Arhats, and Venerables below them. Heaven had ordained that Buddhism would flourish, and now all that was missing was an opportunity, fortune.
Buddhism originally had the twelve-petaled lotus platform to suppress the fortune of the Jie Sect, but it was clearly not enough. At this time, the number of Buddhists was probably no less than that of the Jie Sect in the past. With more people, there was also more karma. Most of these Buddhist disciples were snatched from the Jie Sect. If they were from the Pure Land, then it would be fine, as they had no karma. The twelve-petaled golden lotus alone was enough to suppress the fortune of Buddhism.
It's not possible to go now. Luck and fortune don't come from the flourishing of Buddhism. Luck and fortune have to be fought for. Now, Buddhists have some, but they lack others. This is an opportunity to fight for luck and fortune.
What Buddhism lacks most right now is good fortune. The twelve-petaled lotus platform used to suppress Buddhism was already somewhat insufficient. To make matters worse, three of the twelve petals of the lotus platform were swallowed by the six-winged blood mosquito, making Buddhism's good fortune even more insufficient.
Therefore, Jieyin and Zhunti had no choice but to set their sights on the lucrative territory of the Underworld. The Underworld should have existed since Pangu created the world, but even though Pangu was the embodiment of heaven and earth, and possessed boundless love and selflessness, he still harbored some ambitions. For example, Pangu's blood ultimately transformed into the Wu tribe, a reflection of Pangu's remembrance of heaven and earth. The Heavenly Dao, being most impartial, saw that the Wu tribe was too powerful and ignorant of destiny. Therefore, the Heavenly Dao transformed the sun, which was formed from Pangu's left eye, into three-legged golden crows, namely Dijun and Taiyi. Under their leadership, the demon and Wu tribes fought to the death, ultimately leading to both Wu and demons withdrawing from the struggle for dominance. If there was a biggest winner, it was the Heavenly Dao itself.
