The group understood the unavoidable reasons behind it. The sages of several religions had repeatedly oppressed them. First, they held a debate in Kunlun, which led to Penglai Island withdrawing from the dispute. Later, when Buddhism moved eastward, they tried to seize the Underworld. This Underworld was the place of the ancestral witch Houtu. Although the disciples did not say it, they were very clear about the relationship between Houtu and Xuantian.
Xuan Tian seemed lost in memories. After a long while, he turned back to his disciples and said, "Now, Penglai Island has passed down four schools of thought: Confucianism, Mohism, Legalism, and Military Science. Now is the time for Penglai Island to show its power."
Looking at Mozi and Han Fei, Xuan Tian said, "Today, I formally accept you two as my disciples, fulfilling your wishes."
Su Yu and Jin Linzi were overjoyed to hear this, as it was the result they had wanted most. After waiting for millions of years, they finally had a result today. Although they had been disciples before, they had remained hidden in the background. Even the most ordinary and unambitious people would have some complaints. Although Xuan Tian had treated them well, they still found it somewhat difficult to understand.
"Thank you for your kindness, Teacher." The two were overjoyed and bowed.
Xuan Tian took out a book and said to Su Yu, "Su Yu, you were the first to follow me, and now you are the eldest disciple of my Penglai Sect. This 'Penglai Treasure Book' records all the cultivation techniques of my Penglai Island. I entrust it to you for safekeeping. This item was crafted by your master and can only be opened with an incantation. From now on, the matter of passing on the teachings to the disciples will be entrusted to you. All those who wish to learn will be provided by you. Please take good care of it." After saying this, he handed the book to Su Yu and passed on the incantation.
Xuan Tian then said to Jin Linzi, also known as Han Fei, "You've been with me for quite some time now. From today onwards, you will be my second disciple under the Penglai Sect."
Jin Linzi nodded in agreement.
Xuan Tian then turned to Hui Xin and the others and said, “You can arrange yourselves according to the order in which you entered the sect. Hui Xin is the third disciple, Liao Zhen is the fourth disciple, Chang'e is the fifth, and Cang Jie is the youngest and the last.”
Everyone agreed. Xuan Tian said, "You should all support your senior brother in managing Penglai Island. You must be united and love each other. If any of my disciples act independently, kill each other, or betray their master, I will personally confiscate their cultivation and cast them into the cycle of reincarnation, where they will never be able to escape and will suffer the torments of reincarnation."
Xuan Tian's last words, though seemingly calm, sent chills down everyone's spines. Don't be fooled by the seemingly ruthless claims of the true spirit's annihilation and the destruction of the primordial spirit; compared to Xuan Tian's arrangements, these were relatively mild. The true spirit's demise was simply death, but the eternal cycle of reincarnation was the most painful fate. The Land of Reincarnation was Xuan Tian's territory, and the specifics of reincarnation depended entirely on his arrangements. If he assigned you a pig or a dog, that would be alright; but if it was something like an ant or a flea, you were basically doomed.
The disciples naturally agreed, and Xuan Tian then said, "You may all go down first. The affairs of Qin are related to the fortune of Penglai Island, so Han Fei, you should take care of them. As for the affairs of Dongsheng Shenzhou, I have my own plans. You may make your own arrangements first."
The disciples obeyed and left, leaving only Xuan Tian sitting alone in the main hall.
Fifty-three Buddhist scheming
Then Liao Zhen transformed into Sun Tzu, and Jin Linzi transformed into Han Fei, helping the Qin Kingdom unify the Southern Continent. Now that their greatest enemy, the Qi Kingdom, has been destroyed, they don't need to worry about the others for the time being.
South of Jambudvipa, beneath the city of Xianyang.
The two walked on the main road outside Xianyang City. The one on the left wore a white robe with seven stars and the one on the right wore a golden robe. Under the golden sunlight, the two looked like immortals.
Well, these two really should be considered immortals. The one on the left is Sun Wu, and the one on the right is Han Fei. Judging from their cultivation levels, the term "immortal" is most appropriate to describe them.
Han Fei said, "This human world is indeed wonderful. No wonder those sages all want to vie for the orthodoxy of this human world." Han Fei pointed to the beautiful scenery outside Xianyang City.
Sun Wu smiled and said, "Aren't you afraid the teacher will catch you? Our teacher is a saint, you'd better watch out for the teacher punishing you."
After hearing this, Han Fei turned his head and smiled, "You won't tell on us. Although our teacher is a sage, he won't come to listen to us talk for no reason. This is something you and I know, so how could anyone else know?"
Sun Tzu asked doubtfully, "How do you know I won't tell my teacher?"
Han Fei put on a profound expression and said, "If you dare to say that, I'll sue you too."
Sun Tzu was even more puzzled and asked, "Where do I have a place for you to file a complaint?"
Han Fei asked curiously, "Where did you go during the Battle of Luoyi? Did you go chasing girls?"
Sun Tzu suddenly realized and said, "Oh, so that's what you thought. But you're mistaken."
After some explanation, Han Fei suddenly realized that Sun Wu had actually gone somewhere else that day.
Let's rewind to the time when the Qin and Qi armies were facing off in Luoyi, the capital of the Western Zhou Dynasty.
In the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, beside the Pool of Eight Treasures and Merits.
Jieyin and Zhunti sat on the throne, with three thousand Buddhist disciples below them. These were the three thousand worldly beings who had been brought over from the Jie Sect. They were usually under the command of the Tathagata, but occasionally Jieyin and Zhunti would summon them to preach the Dharma. In reality, the Dharma was used to reinforce the imprisonment in the primordial spirits of these three thousand Buddhist disciples.
Suddenly, the two stopped preaching. Zhunti waved his hand, signaling the crowd to leave, leaving only the two of them present.
With a pained expression, Jieyin said, "There are so many talented people in the East, how can Buddhism flourish?" He then sighed deeply.
Zhunti also frowned and said, "I thought that after the Investiture of the Gods, Taoism had declined in the East, and Buddhism should have flourished. But I didn't expect that the Penglai Island lineage would suddenly appear halfway through."
Although the conflict between Qin and Qi was a conflict between the people and the state, it was a conflict that concerned the fate of several religions, which Jieyin and Zhunti could naturally foresee.
Jieyin said, "During the Investiture of the Gods, because the Sage Xuantian did not establish a sect, the disciples of Penglai Island had both merit and cultivation. At that time, the Human and Chan sects also had to face a huge Jie sect, so they naturally dared not fight against it. If the Jie sect had the help of the Penglai Island sect at that time, I'm afraid it might not be in the situation it is today."
