Yunxiao said to the Jade Emperor, "Your Majesty, please wait a moment while I check the situation." Seeing the Jade Emperor nod, Yunxiao silently activated his divine power, and his divine sense instantly searched the Three Realms, Six Paths, Nine Heavens, and Ten Earths. Except for a few places that were covered by those with great supernatural powers, all living beings were visible to him.
Thirty-Three Killing Demons
Yunxiao's cultivation is now unparalleled in the Three Realms. Aside from Buddhism, Penglai Island, and a few other established Quasi-Saints from the primordial era, she is second to none. To date, Yunxiao is the only one from the Three Pure Ones sect to have achieved Quasi-Saint status. The Six Paths of Reincarnation is a peculiar place; it exists within the Three Realms yet is not bound by them. It was created by the Holy Mother Houtu, and no one knows its true nature. Yunxiao searched the Yellow Springs, the Azure Heaven, and the Netherworld Blood Sea, but found nothing unusual. She then turned her gaze to the boundary between the Three Realms and Reincarnation, and suddenly a jolt went through her—she had finally found the problem.
Yunxiao opened his closed eyes and said to the Jade Emperor, "Your Majesty, I have discovered something amiss. Please look." Yunxiao pointed his right hand above the palace gate, where a bright mirror appeared, and objects gradually appeared on it. Everyone turned to look and saw that the objects on the mirror kept changing, finally revealing the boundary between the Three Realms and the Six Paths of Reincarnation. Something was wrong with the Earthly Realm. An inexplicable aura enveloped the Earthly Realm, preventing not only the living beings and souls of the planet from entering the Six Paths of Reincarnation, but even the ghosts already in reincarnation were being torn apart and pulled out by a suction force.
Li Jing couldn't help but exclaim, "What kind of power is this? It's so strange that it can pull out all the souls of the dead from the six realms!"
Everyone had the same thought and looked at Yunxiao, but Yunxiao shook his head and said, "I don't know either."
Everyone was greatly disappointed, and they all looked back at the image displayed in the mirror. Then the scene shifted, penetrating layers of malevolent energy, entering the surface of Earth, and following the source of the aura, finally settling on a middle-aged man dressed in a white robe and wearing a white feathered crown. The man seemed to know they were being watched; he suddenly stood up, drew his sword with his right hand, and stared at the sky with a cold glint in his eyes. The crowd felt a slight fear under that gaze—it was killing intent! Killing intent that could penetrate the three realms and reach the heavens—what kind of person was this?
Everyone looked at him and saw that he didn't resemble a cultivator at all, but rather a mortal, yet he possessed a killing intent that would frighten even immortals and gods—something they had never seen before. Yunxiao also sensed that killing intent. Although she wasn't affected by it, she couldn't help but feel that something was off about the man, as if she recognized his aura, but she just couldn't remember where she had seen him before.
Yunxiao focused his mind, recalling past events, and finally understood. He exclaimed in surprise, "Great Shaman! This is a Great Shaman! That's right, this must be a Great Shaman who has long been extinct!"
The Great Witch! It was actually the Great Witch! Everyone in the Heavenly Court panicked, their hearts pounding with fear. The Great Witch's fearsome reputation was widely known even now. During the Three Sovereigns era, there was a Great Witch named Chi You, who truly possessed the power to destroy the heavens and the earth, and was not someone they could subdue.
The Jade Emperor asked in a deep voice, "Fairy Yunxiao, are you sure this is a Great Witch? You should know that the Witch Clan no longer exists, let alone a Great Witch! You should look carefully and not make a mistake."
Yunxiao said with certainty, "This is definitely a Great Shaman. I once saw the Great Shaman Chiyou. Although this aura is not as strong as that Great Shaman Chiyou's, it should not be underestimated. I know the aura of the Shaman race better than anyone. This person's Shaman race aura is overwhelming, and only a Great Shaman could have it."
The Jade Emperor's inquiry was merely a formality. Seeing Yunxiao's certainty, he said, "I urgently request all the Great Emperors to come and discuss this matter. Otherwise, if we delay, it may be a great calamity for all beings in the Three Realms!"
Immediately, the celestial officials rushed out to deliver the message, while the people of the Heavenly Court were also discussing and devising countermeasures.
Among all the immortals and gods, there are six beings whose esteem rivals that of the Jade Emperor. These are: the Western Emperor of the Western Pole, Bifang, an ancient demon god who commands all thunder, assists the Supreme Heavenly Emperor in governing the three realms of Heaven, Earth, and Man, and oversees all warfare in the Three Realms; the Northern Emperor of the Northern Pole, Ziwei, who commands all stars, assists the Supreme Heavenly Emperor in governing the celestial and terrestrial order, the sun, moon, stars, constellations, and the four seasons; the Eastern Emperor of the Eastern Pole, Qinghua (actually a shared position among the Ten Yama Kings), who commands all spirits, assists the Supreme Heavenly Emperor in governing the lifespan, fortune, and misfortune of the Three Realms; the Southern Emperor of the Southern Pole, Changsheng, the Antarctic Immortal, and the Antarctic Child; the Empress of the Earth, Pingxin, who commands all lands; and the Northern Emperor of the Northern Pole, Zhenwu Xuantian Shangdi Yousheng Zhenjun, who commands all gods, punishes evil and promotes good, and governs life, death, and war in the Three Realms.
In the past, the distribution of the Six Emperors was basically evenly distributed among the major powers of the East. Later, during the Investiture of the Gods, Yuanshi ordered Jiang Ziya to lavishly bestow high-ranking positions upon the disciples of the Chan Sect, aiming to control the Three Realms and propagate the Daoist tradition. However, it seems that Yuanshi was not very successful. Fortunately, when the Heavenly Court was established, Xuantian proposed the establishment of the Six Emperors to unify the distribution of the Heavenly Court's power. However, Yuanshi was not satisfied and later issued an edict to add another emperor, namely the True Martial Xuantian Emperor, the Protector of the Holy Lord, who commands all gods, punishes evil and promotes good, and governs life and death in the world.
Among them, Gouchen, Ziwei, Zhenwu, and Haotian are known as the Four Emperors of Heaven. Their residences in the Heavenly Palace are only slightly lower than the Dou Niu Palace, and each has its own imperial palace and celestial officials. When the Heavenly Court spread the word that a great witch had appeared in the mortal realm and would endanger all living beings in the Three Realms, only these four emperors responded and came to discuss the matter.
The Ziwei Emperor is an arriving Heavenly Emperor. He himself possesses extremely powerful magical abilities and is the Taiyi Zhenren of the Chan Sect. Although he was injured after the Investiture of the Gods, his strength has recovered somewhat. Moreover, the subordinates under his command are the most powerful serving immortals and gods in the Three Realms. The Beidou, Nandou, Qisha, Tanlang, Pojun, and Sanxiao are all top-notch experts.
