Although he verbally agreed, he harbored ill intentions. He brandished the needle, making it as thick as a bowl, and aimed it at Tang Sanzang, ready to strike. The elder monk hurriedly chanted two or three more times, causing the monkey to fall to the ground, dropping his iron cudgel and unable to raise his hand. He could only stammer, "Master! I understand! Don't chant anymore, don't chant anymore!" Sanzang said, "How dare you deceive me and hit me?" Wukong replied, "I didn't dare hit you. I ask you, Master, who taught you this magic?" Sanzang said, "It was an old woman who just taught me." Wukong angrily exclaimed, "No need to say more! That old woman must be Guanyin! How could she harm me like that!" "Wait until I go to the South Sea to fight him!" Sanzang said, "Since he taught me this method, he must have known it first. If you go looking for him, and he recites it, won't you be dead?" Seeing that what Sanzang said made sense, the Monkey King dared not move. He had no choice but to change his mind, kneel down and plead, "Master! This is his way of dealing with me, telling me to go west with you. I will not provoke him, and you should not take this as a casual remark, just keep reciting it. I promise to protect you, and I will never back down." Sanzang said, "In that case, please help me mount my horse." Only then did the Monkey King give up his mind, rouse his spirits, tie on a cotton robe, fasten the horse, pack his luggage, and head west.
This was a treasure bestowed by the Buddha before Guanyin Bodhisattva's departure, called the Golden Hoop. This item also had a significant origin. There were originally three of them, each with its own unique features. They were the treasures of the Golden Hoop Immortal of the Jie Sect. Although they did not have great power or effect, they were unconventional treasures. During the Battle of the Ten Thousand Immortals, the Golden Hoop Immortal used this treasure to cause Huanglong Zhenren a great loss. Later, with the help of the Primordial Heavenly Venerable, he was able to escape danger. However, the Primordial Heavenly Venerable looked down on such a trivial item, while Zhunti, envious of the barrenness of the West, shamelessly exchanged the treasure for it, keeping it for future use.
This Sun Wukong possesses profound roots and exceptional talent, and his origins are truly remarkable. His body was originally a wisp of pure energy exhaled by the Three Pure Ones when they mended the heavens, and was further refined by Nuwa using the Qiankun Cauldron. This pure energy is a rare substance in the world, unseen since the Three Pure Ones, demonstrating its preciousness. Moreover, Sun Wukong is a remnant of the heaven-mending talent, his merits are immense, and he has been personally mentored by the Sage Zhunti; his future achievements are sure to be extraordinary.
This was what the Buddha was worried about. Although he was the current Buddha of Buddhism, the current Buddha of Buddhism, this position of Buddha was actually a scheme devised by the Three Pure Ones of Taoism to divide the fortune of Buddhism. Laozi transformed into a Buddha, forcing Jieyin and Zhunti to abdicate. Duobao was even more deeply involved, possessing the great laws of five sages. His original body was also the chief disciple of the Jie Sect, and he was also Laozi transformed into a Buddha. He was like a spy. Although his position was revered, how could people feel at ease? Moreover, Duobao had not yet attained Hunyuan and could not guarantee his own safety. At present, Buddhism was flourishing, and the karma between Buddhism and Taoism was too great. When the great calamity came, he might not be able to escape his life.
The only viable option is to strive to maintain his position, cling tightly to the two Buddhist saints, and bind Buddhism to himself, so that the two saints would not dare to abandon him easily. Only with the protection of the two saints can he save his life.
However, the appearance of Sun Wukong made Tathagata somewhat worried. Sun Wukong was quite involved, especially in terms of destiny. The Buddhist sect's destiny was insufficient, and to prosper, it relied on Sun Wukong to share some of Nuwa's destiny. He had good aptitude, a good background, and was valued by the Sage Zhunti. This made Tathagata feel a sense of crisis. Who knew that during the great calamity, the Sage Zhunti might have other thoughts and abandon him, establishing Sun Wukong as the Buddha instead?
Therefore, Buddha dared not rest easy and wanted to keep Sun Wukong under his control. However, Sun Wukong was a thread that would greatly benefit Buddhism and could not be broken; he could only hold on tightly. This is why Buddha took this action, sending Guanyin to plot against him. But let's leave that aside for now and talk about Sun Wukong.
This monkey's nature is hard to change; it wants to take anything pretty it sees. Of course, that's secondary. This robbery was actually due to someone deceiving the heavens and secretly doing something. Otherwise, how could such a tattered hat have fooled this clever monkey?
As soon as Wukong put on the hat, Tang Sanzang secretly began chanting the Tightening-Headband Mantra. This chant caused Wukong's head to throb with pain, as if the golden headband was pressing into his skull, and his brain fluid was about to burst out. Cultivators are different from ordinary people. As long as their primordial spirit is still intact, they don't care much about their physical body. Even though Sun Wukong cultivated the Eight-Nine Arcane Arts and had an indestructible body, he could still live as long as his primordial spirit was intact. However, the golden headband was no ordinary thing. It was directly binding his primordial spirit, and a pressure was pressing down on his primordial spirit, making him suffer terribly.
At that moment, Wukong's mind raced with a thousand thoughts, and he realized that it was this monk Sanzang who had harmed him. Who was the Great Sage Equaling Heaven? When he wreaked havoc in the Heavenly Palace, he was not afraid of anyone. When his monkey temper flared up, he would not recognize anyone. Just then, a refreshing energy suddenly entered Wukong's mind, instantly dispelling the piercing sensation. Wukong was puzzled, thinking that Sanzang had stopped. He was furious and about to kill him when the scene suddenly changed. Wukong suddenly appeared in a strange scene, which at first glance resembled Flower Fruit Mountain.
The mountains were filled with birdsong and fragrant flowers, and the orchards were lush and beautiful. However, Wukong had only cultivated combat techniques and had not learned any other magic. He knew that such a scene should not be present. As a cultivator, he knew that this was an illusion and was furious. But then he heard a clear laugh from the side. He turned around and saw a Taoist standing there. What a Taoist! He was dressed in a moon-white Taoist robe, with star-like eyebrows and sword-like eyes. His face was as if carved by a knife and axe. A golden crown held his black hair in place. A golden python belt hung around his waist, with a black gourd hanging from it. He held a whisk in his hand, with three thousand silver strands casually draped over his wrist. He was smiling at him.
Although Wukong was furious, he was not a fool. He had been captured by the Buddha in the past, but he knew that there were still many powerful people in the world that he could not provoke. But when he saw this Taoist suddenly appear here, his body was in harmony with heaven and earth, without making a sound. It was so sudden yet so natural that he did not feel anything. How could Wukong not be terrified?
