Furthermore, because Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism became the most prominent schools of thought in the next great kalpa, they gradually overshadowed the other nine schools and became the main schools of thought in that kalpa. As a result, people referred to Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism as the "Three Teachings," and the other nine schools as the "Nine Schools."
"Three teachings and nine streams" refers to all schools of thought throughout history!
These schools of thought all have their origins. Laozi's Daoism originated from Laozi, but it was Zhuangzi, the reincarnation of Xuandu, who popularized and developed it. Confucius's Confucianism and Mozi's Mohism need no further explanation; they are both lineages of Penglai Island. Huizi's School of Names was the reincarnation of Guangchengzi of the Chan sect. The School of Names sought to distinguish between names (names, concepts) and realities (facts, realities), and was known as "debaters," "observers," or "the School of Names and Forms." The Yin-Yang School originated from Yunzhongzi of the Chan sect, who was reincarnated as Zou Yan. He combined Yin-Yang and the Five Elements, and based on the theory of mutual generation and overcoming of the Five Elements, he interpreted the attributes of the Five Elements as "Five Virtues," creating the "Theory of the Five Virtues' Cycle and Beginning," which he used as the law governing the rise and fall of dynasties throughout history, providing a theoretical basis for the establishment of a new unified dynasty.
The medical family was chosen by the Guiling Shengmu, a disciple of the Jie Sect. This is quite peculiar, considering the Jie Sect's characteristics, they would at least choose the military family. Why was the medical family chosen instead? It's because currently, almost all the male disciples of the Jie Sect have made the list. Among the capable disciples, the three most powerful disciples are female, and there is also Yunxiao. Her true form is still on Penglai Island and cannot come out for the time being, so she has taken an incarnation to be on the list in her place.
The School of Diplomacy is divided into two factions: one is the one passed down by Kunpeng, and the other is the one passed down by Lu Ya. Since the power of the Heavenly Court has fallen into the hands of the demon race, Nuwa, although a saint, is ultimately a woman and cannot intervene too much. Currently, the demon race is divided into three major factions.
One faction is under Nuwa's control, currently residing in Beiju Luzhou, obeying Nuwa's command. This faction is the largest, not only because Nuwa herself is a saint, but also because there are many powerful demons and strong figures in Beiju Luzhou, whose strength is not weaker than some major sects. The other faction is led by the demon master Kunpeng, residing in the Northern Underworld. Kunpeng took away the 360 Zhou Tian Xing Dou Array Flags that the Heavenly Court had painstakingly collected during the Wu-Yao War, which is more or less the reason why the demon race lost power after the war. However, Kunpeng has always kept a low profile and is an old quasi-saint from the ancient times of the primordial era. After obtaining the Zhou Tian Xing Dou Array Flags, he set up the Zhou Tian Xing Dou Grand Array in the Northern Underworld. Although it lacks the He Tu Luo Shu as the array core, it should not be underestimated. It is very difficult for ordinary people to break in.
One faction was led by Lu Ya. Although Lu Ya had devoted himself to Buddhism, he was still the son of the ancient Heavenly Emperor and the only remaining Golden Crow in the world, so he had some influence. This faction was opposed to Kunpeng, and the two factions were evenly matched. Lu Ya deeply resented Kunpeng for betraying him during that great battle.
However, both Kunpeng and Lu Ya were essentially commanders without any real power or troops. This was because Kunpeng's actions during the Lich War were so shameless that most of the demon race deeply resented him and refused to help him. As for Lu Ya, it was because he joined Western Buddhism, an act that caused the demon race to lose face. Back when the demon race dominated the world, all demons paid homage to them, and Western Buddhism was just a sect from a barbaric land. Now, Lu Ya, as a prince, had joined Buddhism, which was bound to anger the demon race.
In this era of great calamity, the primordial world was divided into four parts. Various major powers in the world sent people down to the mortal realm to cultivate their own forces. This struggle over doctrines was secretly orchestrated by several major powers.
A month later, the academy was bustling with activity, with carriages and horses thronging the streets, making it impossible to move. Students from various schools of thought filled the entire academy.
When the auspicious time arrived, the Prime Minister announced the official start of the debate competition.
At this time, the feudal lords were vying for supremacy, and the Western Zhou court was powerless to stop them. It could only protect itself. The ruler was also an ambitious man who wanted to restore the Zhou Dynasty to its former glory. However, he understood that the current policies of governing the country could no longer meet the needs of war.
Therefore, the Western Zhou court wanted to use this conference to recruit talented people and find good strategies for governing the country.
All the sages were sharpening their knives, ready to display their eloquence and promote their ways of governing the country. Now that the Prime Minister had announced the start of the debate, they were naturally eager to begin. Immediately, the entire Jixia Academy was filled with the spittle flying and the saliva vying for attention.
Just as everyone was locked in a fierce and evenly matched battle, one person quietly walked up to the edge of the main platform and bowed to the Prime Minister. Although the Prime Minister of Western Zhou did not recognize this person, he wanted to know that this person must be a man of great talent to dare to come up, so he nodded to him.
The man drew a sword, made a seal, and looked up at the sky with a resolute gaze. A gentle breeze blew, lifting the crimson-gold robe on his body, causing dust to flutter in the wind. From afar, he looked like the rising sun, ethereal and otherworldly—what a handsome young man!
The young man knelt down and performed the three kneelings and nine kowtows in the direction of Penglai Island. Then he stood up and declared in a loud voice, "Today, I, Han Fei, uphold the Way of Heaven and receive the great teachings of my teacher. I hereby establish the Legalist School, as the way to govern the country and cultivate oneself!" After speaking, the young man used his sword as a brush to carve a large character "法" (law) in the air. At that moment, a thunderclap resounded across the clear sky, followed by a deafening roar of thunder like a series of drumbeats, echoing throughout the three realms. This startled all those who were debating.
The character "法" was several thousand feet in size, its red light soaring into the sky, almost rivaling the sun and moon in brilliance. In an instant, the entire Three Realms knew of it.
The boy then used the longsword formed from the God-Slaying Spear in his hand to continue writing the characters "家" (family), "出" (emerge), "天" (heaven), "下" (below), and "平" (peace). Together, they read "法家出,天下平" (The Legalist school emerges, the world is at peace). Each of the six large characters emitted a dazzling red light that shot straight into the universe.
The people of the world are suffering from the chaos and strife of the Warring States period, living in misery and yearning day and night for the world to be unified again. Upon seeing these six large characters in the sky, they all prostrated themselves, crying out, "Great Sage, please have pity on our suffering! Save us!" The combined power of the people's thoughts converged on the six characters, which shimmered with red light while golden light floated within them. The young man shouted, "Return!" and the six characters simultaneously crashed into the longsword and seal in his hand.
