My body is as old as heaven and earth; even if Mount Sumeru collapses, my nature will remain.
"I am the Jade Purity Daoist." The Tongtian Sect Leader, bewildered, parried but remained deeply puzzled. Just as he pondered this, another jade chime rang out from the north, and a Daoist appeared, wearing a Nine Heavens Crown and an Eight Treasures Longevity Purple Robe; one hand held a dragon-beard fan, the other a Three Treasures Jade Ruyi, riding the ground and roaring, "Brother Li! This humble Daoist has come to assist you in breaking the Immortal Trapping Formation!" The Tongtian Sect Leader, seeing this aged, white-haired Daoist, felt uneasy and hurriedly asked, "Who comes?" The Daoist replied, "Listen to my story. A poem says: 'Chaos never counts years, I was the first to be cleaved in the primordial chaos.'"
By understanding the principles of the universe, you can see through any side gate and pierce through your eyes.
"I am the Daoist Taiqing." The four Heavenly Venerables surrounded the Tongtian Sect Leader, some above, some below, some to the left, some to the right, and the Tongtian Sect Leader could only parry. Meanwhile, the disciples of the Jie Sect saw that the three Daoists who came were radiant with countless rays of light and auspicious colors, shining brightly and dazzlingly. Among them, Chang Er Ding Guang Xian thought to himself, "What a fine Chan Sect! They are indeed righteous!" He was deeply envious, but he had something else to say.
The Three Pure Ones, transformed from Lao Tzu's primordial energy, were nothing more than primordial energy. Although they possessed form and color, and even when they enveloped the Tongtian Sect Leader, they could not harm him. This was the wonder of Lao Tzu's transformation of primordial energy into multiple forms, which deceived the Tongtian Sect Leader, preventing him from recognizing them. Seeing that his primordial energy was about to dissipate, Lao Tzu composed a poem on his green ox: "He who was born before the world ages, and born after the world, borrowed the form of Li to gain his name."
He once worshipped Hongjun to cultivate morality, only then did he realize that one breath could transform into the Three Pure Ones.
After Laozi finished composing his poem, a bell rang, and the three Taoists vanished. The Tongtian Sect Leader, increasingly puzzled, lost in thought and was struck two or three times by Laozi's cane. Seeing his master injured, the Duobao Taoist came to the Bagua Platform singing: "In the Biyou Palace, we discussed profound mysteries; how could I bear to see my master injured by the cane? Now I will unleash the techniques within my heart and have a duel with my master!"
After the song ended, he shouted, "Master Uncle! I'm here!" Many Treasures Daoist! He flew in with his sword, aiming straight for him. Laozi laughed, "Even a grain of rice can shine!" He braced his sword against his cane, then took the Wind and Fire Futon and launched it into the air, ordering the Yellow Turban Warriors, "Take this Daoist away and place him in the Peach Garden for my judgment!" The Yellow Turban Warriors used the Wind and Fire Futon to carry Many Treasures Daoist away.
Now, Laozi used the Wind and Fire Futon to take Duobao Daoist to Xuandu. Tongtian returned, greatly annoyed, and drew his sword to fight Laozi. But Laozi did not linger in battle, and left the Immortal-Trapping Gate to return to his thatched hut.
Now, when Yuanshi Tianzun of the Chan Sect saw Laozi return, he hurriedly greeted him with his disciples. After they sat down in the reed hut, Yuanshi asked, "Brother Dao, what did you think of the scene inside the formation today?"
Laozi laughed and said, "Although he set up this evil formation, it is difficult to break it in a hurry; I hit him two or three times with my cane. I took Duobao Daoist to Xuandu with my Wind and Fire Futon."
Yuanshi said, "This formation has four gates, and only four powerful individuals can break it. My brother and I can only handle two of them. There are still two gates that no one in our sect dares to break. You and I are not afraid of this sword, but how can others withstand it?" Laozi nodded and looked at Yuanshi again. Yuanshi cautiously asked, "I have heard that the two of you in the West also possess some great techniques. May we ask for your assistance?"
Before he could finish speaking, Laozi glared at him and said, "This is a matter of the East. What does it have to do with those two from the West? Junior brother, you must not have such thoughts, lest you be cursed by others." He then added, "Let us go together again tomorrow. We should be able to break this formation."
When Yuanshi saw that Laozi did not agree, he gave up and closed his eyes to rest and prepare for the battle the next day.
Two days later, the two indeed went to break the formation as agreed. When they arrived at the front of the formation, the golden bell rang. The Tongtian Sect Leader came out of the formation and saw that the two had arrived. He was annoyed and did not go forward to pay his respects. Instead, he confronted the two saints.
Yuanshi angrily said, "You are truly not a son. We, the Three Pure Ones, are of the same body. My senior brother is the eldest, and I am slightly inferior, above you. Why do you treat us as nothing when we come here today?"
Tongtian's face flushed red, but he still bowed and said, "Greetings, senior brothers."
Laozi remained expressionless and waved his hand, saying, "Junior brother and I signed the 'Investiture of the Gods' together in the Zixiao Palace. Now you are stubbornly clinging to one idea and setting up the evil formation 'Slaying Immortals' here. This is not right. I hope you will put away this formation as soon as possible to avoid involving the common people and offending the Heavenly Dao. It would not be good if you were punished by the Master."
Tongtian's face turned red as he said, "Back then, we signed the 'Investiture of the Gods' and clearly stated that it was a contest between disciples. Yet you two have repeatedly descended to the mortal realm to bully the weak and even bestowed your most precious treasures upon my disciples. This is truly going too far. Guang Chengzi has insulted our great sect. How can we let this go? You should stop talking and just come and break the formation."
Yuanshi was furious and said, "You are truly unrepentant and stubborn. Today, let's see my two senior brothers break your Immortal Slaughtering Formation."
Upon hearing this, Tongtian was displeased and turned to enter the formation. Laozi and Yuanshi split into two groups, one heading towards the Immortal Slaughtering Gate and the other towards the Immortal Trapping Gate. As soon as they entered the formation, Tongtian unleashed lightning with his hand, causing four swords to vibrate. The sword energy surged in all directions, heading towards Laozi and Yuanshi. Laozi took the lead by erecting the Heaven and Earth Profound Yellow Exquisite Pagoda to block the sword light. Yuanshi had no defensive treasures, so he could only use his Jade Ruyi to strike at the sword light. However, it was not as dense as the sword energy, and occasionally, there were gaps, breaking through Yuanshi's protective golden lotus.
With the Xuanhuang Pagoda protecting him, Laozi was unaffected by sword attacks. Wielding his flat staff, he struck at Tongtian Jiaozhu. Tongtian Jiaozhu, left with no other choice, drew his Qingping Sword and fought Laozi alongside him. The sword and staff flew up and down, shattering the void wherever they passed, only to be suppressed by the sword light within the Zhuxian Formation before returning to their original state. Yuanshi also turned around, taking out his treasured Pangu Banner and attacking Tongtian. Tongtian, fighting two against one, though somewhat clumsy, grew stronger with each battle, eventually holding both opponents in place with a single sword strike.
The sword, often hailed as the "king of weapons," is an ancient weapon that is long and narrow, pointed at the front, with a short handle at the back and blades on both sides. It is the ancestor of short weapons, a formidable weapon in close combat. Sword techniques primarily involve chopping, slashing, striking, parrying, blocking, sweeping, intercepting, thrusting, stirring, pressing, hooking, and sweeping movements, combining strength and flexibility, flowing freely, gracefully and nimbly.
