The courtyard was ablaze with lights as countless Kongming lanterns slowly rose into the night sky. The stars themselves seemed dim, but the artfully arranged lanterns illuminated the darkness, creating a truly magnificent sight.
In the courtyard, Xiu could be seen holding the last burning Kongming lantern, the light illuminating his handsome face.
Upon seeing his beloved appear at the door, the corners of his lips couldn't help but turn up. After a moment of silence, he parted his lips and said, "Miss Jiangyao, I've finally waited for you."
Jiang Ge suddenly patted Jiang Yao beside her and found that Jiang Yao's face was blank, her right hand was resting on the eaves, and she was staring at the Kongming lantern in the sky, at a loss for what to do.
Upon hearing someone call her name, Jiang Yao looked down to find the source of the sound and glimpsed the person in the center of the courtyard, who was none other than the big bad Xiu.
The Kongming lantern in their hands slowly rose, blocking the way between the two, their gazes following the last lantern until it disappeared into the night.
Jiang Ge inexplicably felt the air was filled with the sour smell of love. Excuse me? ??? Sorry to bother you, excuse me. She consciously took a few steps back into the shadows.
Xiu lowered his eyes to secretly observe Jiang Yao in the distance, but unfortunately, he met Jiang Yao's gaze. Their eyes met, and they smiled slightly. An awkward feeling of being caught peeking arose spontaneously.
Jiang Yao's eyes stung, and tears welled up again. A strange emotion arose in her heart, a feeling she had never experienced before. She felt utterly unfamiliar with the man in the courtyard and began to seriously observe him for the first time.
His face was smooth and fair, with sharp, cold features. Beneath his long, slightly curled eyelashes were a pair of eyes as clear as morning dew, and his lips, as pink as rose petals, were slightly pursed, forming a beautiful curve.
Xiu seemed to be quite handsome. Jiang Yao was surprised that she had such a thought. Her face turned red and then she ran back to her room.
Xiu noticed something was wrong. Why had Jiang Yao run away again? Had he scared her? Or had he made her cry again?
Xiu ran swiftly towards Jiang Yao's room, taking three steps at a time. Just as he was about to step through the threshold, Jiang Ge stepped forward to block the door frame and reached out to stop Xiu from rushing in.
"How can a man force his way into a woman's boudoir? Please have some self-respect." Jiang Yao's expression was solemn, showing no emotion whatsoever, even though Xiu was a friend she had known for a long time.
"This! I haven't even apologized yet, and Miss Jiangyao has already run away. I'm worried about her." Xiu looked anxious, not knowing what to do.
"Hey, I'll go take a look right now. You wait here and don't take a single step!" Jiang Ge sighed softly, her eyes wide as she reminded Xiu, who was standing by the door frame.
"Go quickly! I will obey and wait for your news at the door." Xiu's serious demeanor made Jiang Ge somewhat convinced.
Jiang Ge returned to the room and saw Jiang Yao sitting on the edge of the bed, her limbs folded and her head resting on her knees. Jiang Ge took a deep breath and walked towards the bed.
Jiang Yao consciously looked up and saw that the person who came was Jiang Yao. She felt a little lost for no reason. Jiang Ge sat down next to Jiang Yao, stroked Jiang Yao's hair, and did not speak, as if waiting for Jiang Yao to take the initiative to confide.
"Jiang Ge, what's wrong with me? I'm becoming more and more prone to crying."
Jiang Ge did not respond, but that did not stop Jiang Yao from continuing to pour out her heart.
“Since he came back, I feel more and more like I don’t recognize him anymore, and I have a new feeling about him.”
"Is it because I've never really known him before, and I feel like he's special to me?"
