Chapter 104 Sweet Moments [IF Route] (The End)

Chapter 104 Sweet Moments [IF Route] (The End)

Mu Qingheng's fingers, which were resting on the side armrest of the chair, curled slightly. Gone was the casualness from before; he stiffly withdrew his hand.

He lowered his eyes and answered softly in a low voice, "...Yes."

"Impossible!" The Heavenly Emperor shook his head inwardly after saying this. His son was so outstanding, with unparalleled elegance and charm throughout the Six Realms. No one could match him in either appearance or ability. How could he possibly have a secret crush on someone who didn't reciprocate his feelings? Sigh, how could that be?

Mu Qingheng loosely clenched his fist, pressed it to his lips, and coughed lightly. He felt his cheeks were slightly hot, and he wasn't sure if they had already turned red. "Father, I... I'm because..."

He pursed his thin lips, paused for a moment, and continued, but in an even lower voice: "It's because she's not yet an adult."

The Heavenly Emperor's expression immediately became quite interesting. "Heng'er, you... the little girl you like hasn't even reached adulthood yet? How young is she? You... how could you... uh..."

Seeing that his father seemed to be thinking in a more and more inappropriate way, Mu Qingheng was both amused and exasperated, and immediately explained, "He's not a child. He's a little younger than Luo Luo, but he'll be an adult soon."

"Oh, that's alright."

The Heavenly Emperor, unaware of anything, immediately stood before his son, pondering thoughtfully. "According to the Holy Ancestor's rules, one can marry upon reaching adulthood, so there won't be much time. However, since Heavenly Clan girls can be engaged at any time, they don't necessarily have to wait until adulthood. I think this matter should be settled quickly, lest something unforeseen happens and someone else gets engaged..."

After all, it was his child who had taken a liking to her, so she must be an exceptional girl, one in a million.

“Father, no,” the Heavenly Emperor was happily making plans when Mu Qingheng suddenly stopped him softly, “Don’t make a decision so early, she’s still too young.”

The Heavenly Emperor, being an experienced man, immediately understood what was going on upon seeing Mu Qingheng's demeanor. He couldn't help but tease her, "You silly child, I hadn't noticed before that you were so deeply in love. Look at this, it's not even a hint of anything's happened yet, and you're already protecting her. I'm really curious, which family's daughter has bewitched our Heavenly Clan's Crown Prince?"

Mu Qingheng looked helpless and smiled slightly: "Father, I'm not an adult yet, please don't worry about me."

The Heavenly Emperor curled his lips. He knew how sharp his son's eyes were. He had barely shown his attitude before his son saw through him: "Father knows. Fine, even if you tell me who she is, I won't secretly arrange it for you. Are you at ease now?"

Mu Qingheng chuckled softly and remained silent.

I'm relieved, and my father has promised he won't break his word. But if this girl were anyone else, he could certainly tell her the truth without hesitation right now. However…

Let's not worry him any more.

As he stood up, his handsome features were full of determination and seriousness. "Father, it is true that I am moved. I dare not lie to you when you asked, but she is still young and does not understand. We should not disturb her too much."

"Besides... I'm telling you the truth today not because I want to arrange a marriage with her, but because I want to ask you, Father, not to bother choosing another woman for me. My mind is made up, and I will never change it."

Mu Qingheng said in a low voice, "Then there is no place for anyone else in my heart."

His tone was soft, but his words were firm.

Seeing his expression, he couldn't offer any advice and could only acquiesce for the time being: "Father knows and won't arrange any other women for you. But... well, there's no but. Let's just wait and see."

...

On the day of Mu Luo's coming-of-age ceremony, Mu Qingheng got ready early and came to find her. Today was the most important day for Luo Luo, so he naturally took on the role of her guide.

Just then, Mu Luo finished tidying up and saw Mu Qingheng come in. Her eyebrows curved into a bright smile: "Brother, you're here so early."

Mu Qingheng raised an eyebrow slightly in surprise. His younger sister was always aloof and composed, as if she was born with the majesty of a princess. It was rare to see her smile like this.

He didn't know what made her so happy, but seeing her joy, Mu Qingheng's smile deepened, and he reached out and gently pinched her ear: "That's good, you should smile like that from now on, smile like a fool."

Mu Luo glared at him, then calmed down considerably. She cleared her throat and raised a long eyebrow. "Brother, Father has already promised not to arrange any marriages for me. After my coming-of-age ceremony, he agreed to arrange a marriage between me and Awei. You deserve a lot of credit for that."

She patted Mu Qingheng on the shoulder and said, "Thanks."

"What nonsense are you talking about? What do you mean by matchmaking?" Mu Qingheng said, laughing and crying at the same time. He tapped her forehead. "If you're happy, that's all that matters. I hope I haven't misjudged you. The King of Donghai is a man you can entrust your life to. It won't have been in vain that I helped you this time."

As she said the last sentence, Mu Luo winked meaningfully.

Mu Qingheng glanced at her.

Mu Luo rested her chin on her hand, her eyes full of teasing smiles.

There was really no other way. Mu Qingheng looked outside, then turned back and whispered, "Luo Luo, about this matter..."

Mu Luo smiled and patted Mu Qingheng on the shoulder, "You are still just an ordinary person after all. When you first fall in love, your eyes seem to speak volumes, and you are so innocent."

"Shut up. Your hair ornament is crooked, let me straighten it for you."

"oh."

Unbeknownst to them, the Heavenly Emperor had overheard their conversation. According to the rules of the Heavenly Clan, parents were not allowed to come on the morning of the coming-of-age ceremony. However, the Heavenly Emperor, out of love for his daughter, couldn't resist the urge to see her, so he concealed his presence and sneaked over for a quick look.

He seemed to understand what he was hearing, but he held back and didn't ask immediately.

Two days later, in the evening, after Mu Luo finished dealing with the miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Heavenly Emperor, she went to report to him. After she finished reporting everything, the Heavenly Emperor mysteriously called her over, "Luo Luo, come here a little, Father has something to ask you."

Mu Luo walked over and casually sat down to one side: "Hmm, what's up?"

"It's this..." The Heavenly Emperor cleared his throat, looking curious. "Your brother, didn't he fall for a girl? Do you know anything about this? Tell your father, which family does this girl belong to?"

Mu Luo looked the Heavenly Emperor up and down, hissed softly, rested her chin on her hand, and her beautiful eyes were full of cunning: "Father, you should ask my brother about this directly."

"Ha, I wanted to ask, and I did. Do you think he'd tell me? This kid has nothing yet, but he's protecting people like the apple of his eye, not even telling his own father."

"Really?" Mu Luo clicked her tongue a few times. "I didn't know that our Crown Prince of the Celestial Clan was such a devoted lover. But it's not surprising. He seems like a loyal and virtuous person."

The Heavenly Emperor glared at her: "Go away, stop talking nonsense. What do you mean by loyal and virtuous? Is that a word to describe a man? I'm talking to you about serious matters. Who exactly is this girl?"

Mu Luo paused, cleared her throat, and leaned back in her chair with her hands in her pockets: "Because you are his father, naturally I can't hide it from you. I am his sister, would he tell me something like this?"

Her question was delivered with conviction, and the Heavenly Emperor looked up at the sky. He felt that Mu Luo's words made sense, and after stroking his chin for a moment, he nodded: "That's true. Heng'er is reserved and composed, and deeply in love; she certainly wouldn't tell too many people on her own initiative. Since you don't know, then Mengmeng must know even less..."

Mu Luo curled her lips into a smile: "That's right."

The Heavenly Emperor sighed, his face full of resentment.

Seeing his intense curiosity, Mu Luo couldn't help but chuckle, licking her lips as she casually offered words of comfort: "Father, don't be too anxious. This can't be kept secret forever; you'll find out someday."

"You don't need to tell me that. I'll have to sign the engagement certificate myself." The Heavenly Emperor curled his lip.

...

After Mu Luo brushed off the Heavenly Emperor, he stopped causing trouble and simply let things take their course. A couple of days later, some turmoil broke out within the demon race, and he was so busy that he couldn't pay attention to anything else.

In the past, when the demon race was in turmoil and they were unable to resolve the situation on their own, they would seek help from the celestial race. Mu Qingheng was already adept at handling such matters and went directly to the celestial race.

Half a month later, Mu Qingheng had just returned from the demon realm when he heard that Mengmeng had been punished by the Heavenly Emperor.

The one who came to report was his chief bodyguard, who was always meticulous and understood his thoughts. He stopped him directly at the Nine Heavens Gate.

Upon hearing this, Mu Qingheng immediately changed direction, disregarding his own palace, and headed straight for the Heavenly Emperor: "Tell me the details of what happened."

"Yes, Your Highness. The little princess punished a local official surnamed Chu under the command of Chief Tan of Nanyin Mountain this afternoon..."

Mu Qingheng paused slightly and glanced at him.

As the head guard hesitated, he asked in a deep voice, "Isn't the Princess in the Celestial Realm?"

"Your Highness, the Princess was sent by His Majesty to Jade Realm to handle some matters. She has been gone for two days and has not yet returned."

Mu Qingheng nodded slightly, raising his slender hand slightly. "I understand. There's no need to say anything more."

As soon as he finished speaking, he didn't linger any longer and strode towards the Heavenly Emperor's Palace.

***

Mu Meng stood to one side of the main hall, her fair face full of stubbornness. She looked up at the Heavenly Emperor, then looked down at her hands, where a faint red mark was clearly visible in the center of her fair palm.

The Heavenly Emperor casually craned his neck to glance at it, then cleared his throat and said somewhat awkwardly, "Are you angry?"

Mu Meng pursed his lips and didn't say anything.

The Heavenly Emperor rubbed his hands together. "Wasn't Father in a hurry just now? And... he probably didn't use too much force..."

Just then, Mu Qingheng walked in from outside.

Upon seeing the Heavenly Emperor, he hurriedly bowed and then walked straight towards Mu Meng. With his keen eyesight, he noticed the red mark on Mu Meng's palm even before he got close. He immediately quickened his pace, stepped forward, and gently took her hand in his.

Mu Meng looked up at him, her clean, bright eyes glistening with tears: "Brother."

Mu Qingheng responded softly, "Mm."

"When did you get back? Were you tired on the way? Did you encounter any danger in the demon realm? Were you injured?"

"I just arrived, everything is fine, don't worry," Mu Qingheng said softly, raising her eyes to smile gently at Mu Meng before turning her gaze to the scar on her palm.

Mengmeng rarely caused trouble and almost never made her father angry. Even if she did something wrong, she was usually punished by copying a book. Using a ruler was considered a serious punishment.

Mu Qingheng turned and glanced at the Heavenly Emperor.

The Heavenly Emperor was just feeling something was strange, and when Mu Qingheng glanced at him, he was startled.

He was taken aback for a moment and felt a little guilty, but then he straightened his back and said, "What, if the child does something wrong, can't I punish him?"

He thought to himself, "Is it really necessary? I just lightly tapped him with the ruler." Who knew Mengmeng was so easily hit? His hand swelled up from just that little tap. Besides, when he disciplined him before, he hit him much harder, and he never reacted this strongly.

Mu Qingheng felt extremely distressed, and although he tried to hold back, he couldn't help but say, "Father, if you want to scold Mengmeng, you should pay attention to your methods. How could you hit her?"

Without waiting for the Heavenly Emperor's reply, he held Mu Meng's hand as if it were a precious jewel. A flash of light appeared at his fingertips, and he gently brushed across her palm. In the next instant, Mu Meng's hand was restored to its original state.

The Heavenly Emperor stared in disbelief: "Heng'er, is this really such a minor injury? You don't need to make such a fuss, do you? This is the highest level of healing magic, it's practically a life-saving technique, and you're using it to... heal this wound??"

"Hmm," Mu Qingheng replied to the Heavenly Emperor, his tone suggesting that he found nothing wrong with it. He then looked at Mu Meng and asked softly, "Mengmeng, does your hand still hurt?"

Mu Meng smiled at him, shook her head slightly, and looked very obedient: "It didn't hurt that much to begin with."

Looking at her smiling eyes, Mu Qingheng couldn't help but smile as well. He reached out and touched her hair, resisting the urge to hug her tightly. He turned to the Heavenly Emperor and said, "Father, if Mengmeng does anything wrong in the future, you just need to tell her nicely. She is well-behaved and sensible, and has always been the most obedient. You must not hit her again."

"...What if they don't listen?"

"If she doesn't listen, hand her over to me and I'll talk to her."

Mu Qingheng naturally understood the Heavenly Emperor's thoughts and said softly, "Father, you know Mengmeng's temperament. She would never do anything out of line without a reason. Since she has punished someone, that person must be able to bear the punishment."

But he never imagined that one day he would be inferior to his own son. This child, unknowingly, had grown from a lonely child into a strong and upright man, and now, to protect his younger sister, he actually dared to challenge his father.

The Heavenly Emperor was speechless for a moment: "Yes... Father shouldn't have hit her... But it was just a very light touch. I didn't use any force at all. It hurt more when my hand hit the corner of the table... Sigh, never mind. You've spoiled her to the point of obsession. I'm too lazy to talk to you."

“Mengmeng, now that your brother is back, come and tell him what you did.”

Mu Meng gave an "oh" and hesitated about how to start. Just as she was thinking, Mu Qingheng smiled and pinched her cheek. "Alright, don't be embarrassed. I roughly know why you punished her."

The Heavenly Emperor raised an eyebrow and asked in surprise, "You actually know? Tell me why."

Mu Qingheng was slightly taken aback, a strange look flashing in his clear, star-like eyes. Judging from the Heavenly Emperor's tone, it didn't seem like a question, but rather that he was genuinely unaware of the inside story: "Father, don't you know the whole story? Then why are you angry? And why did you punish Mengmeng?"

The Heavenly Emperor rubbed his nose. "I'm not quite sure yet... but Heng'er, you don't know, no matter what, Mengmeng did go a bit too far this time. She is the border official of Nanyin Mountain, a person of some standing, and her elder. Even if there was some verbal conflict, you can't just throw her into the Heavenly Prison."

Mu Meng felt his brother's gaze, swallowed hard, and looked at him uncertainly.

I don't know what my brother was thinking. Did he think I was being arrogant and domineering? He called out somewhat guiltily, "Brother..."

"It's nothing," Mu Qingheng said with a smile, even pinching her little nose. "I didn't realize you were so imposing."

The Heavenly Emperor coughed twice beside him: "What are you doing? What do you mean 'nothing's wrong'? Mengmeng is still young, not even an adult yet. Is it appropriate to just throw a high-ranking official of a realm into the Heavenly Prison like this?"

Mu Qingheng smiled slightly, then straightened his face and explained in a deep voice, "Father, that's because..."

"Your Majesty, Lord Tan of Nanyin Mountain requests an audience."

Mu Qingheng's words were interrupted by the person who came to announce his arrival. The Heavenly Emperor glanced at him and waved his hand, saying, "Please come in."

With such a commotion today, how could Tan Yaojia not come? After all, that's her border official.

Soon Tan Yaojia walked in. She was wearing a bright red dress, and instead of a woman's gentle temperament, she exuded a heroic and wild air.

Upon entering, she first gave a respectful but not servile bow, saying, "Greetings, Your Majesty."

He then turned to the side and bowed in turn, saying, "Greetings, Your Highness the Crown Prince and Your Highness the Little Princess."

Mu Meng returned the greeting respectfully, while Mu Qingheng merely bowed slightly, appearing distant and indifferent.

The Heavenly Emperor wore a polite smile and gestured with a slight wave of his hand, saying, "Lord Tan, please excuse the formalities and have a seat."

"Thank you," Tan Yaojia bowed slightly. "I should not refuse Your Majesty's offer of a seat, but I am ashamed to accept it. I have come here today to apologize to Your Majesty."

She lowered her head, her face showing some shame, and said, "Your Majesty, I have failed to properly supervise my subordinates, which has led to their willful and unruly behavior. I beg Your Majesty to punish me."

The Heavenly Emperor was slightly taken aback: "What... what do you mean?"

Tan Yaojia said, "Recently, I broke off the engagement that I had been betrothed since childhood. After that, some unfounded rumors began to circulate in the region. The official Chu Rou believed them and not only failed to manage the situation properly, but even spread them widely, which has damaged the reputations of both me and His Highness the Crown Prince. Previously, I had considered Chu Rou as an elder and had a deep affection for her, always regarding her as my mother, so I could not bear to reprimand or punish her. I never expected that this would lead to such a disaster. Your Highness the Princess must have heard her inappropriate remarks before she took action to discipline her. This is all due to my failure to discipline her properly. I beg Your Majesty to punish me."

After listening to what had happened, the Heavenly Emperor understood. No wonder Mengmeng hesitated to answer when he asked earlier; it must have been something unpleasant. He nodded slightly and said, "I see. There are no outsiders in the hall right now. I wonder what Lord Chu said? Tell me the truth so I can determine her guilt."

Tan Yaojia hesitated for a moment: "This..."

“Father, there’s no need for Lord Tan to elaborate on the details,” Mu Qingheng said, glancing back at Tan Yaojia before looking at the Heavenly Emperor and speaking in a deep voice. “They’ve spread rumors about my close personal relationship with Lord Tan, but it’s all just hearsay and not worth listening to.”

The Heavenly Emperor's brows furrowed. If it were just a personal relationship, then so be it; Heng'er wouldn't have interfered. It must be some kind of private affair.

That Chu official really dared to speak so boldly, but I wonder if she even had a brain. Not only did she implicate his child, but she also almost harmed her own lord.

The Heavenly Emperor suppressed his anger and asked in a low voice, "Heng'er, did you know about this beforehand?"

Mu Qingheng nodded: "Yes, I heard about it in the demon realm a couple of days ago, and I was planning to deal with it after I got back..."

At this point, he glanced down at Mengmeng, his expression softening, and continued, "Unexpectedly, Mengmeng ended up doing it for me."

His voice was low, and after he finished speaking, he glanced at Tan Yaojia in a light but not heavy way.

The latter immediately understood and bowed, saying, "I am grateful for Your Highness's help. It was my fault for failing to discipline you properly. I hope you will forgive me."

Mu Meng smiled and shook his head, saying, "I dare not accept such praise, Lord Tan is too kind."

Mu Qingheng breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing that Mengmeng's tone was light and her eyes were relaxed, she did not seem to be upset or depressed. Only then did he feel at ease.

His eyes seemed to hold a subtle glimmer, imbued with a serene gentleness.

The Heavenly Emperor glanced at the two of them.

Thinking of this, I couldn't help but look at my daughter with a pang of heartache and guilt.

Then the Heavenly Emperor waved his hand at Tan Yaojia, "Lord of the Realm, there is no need to feel too ashamed. This was not your intention. In fact, your reputation has been affected. I will not punish you. However, Chu Rou's words and actions were inappropriate and implicated His Highness the Crown Prince and the Lord of the Heavenly Clan. We must not be lenient in dealing with this person."

"She is currently being held in the Nine Heavens Gate's prison, but the Heavenly Clan must provide a reason for punishing you. This concerns the two of you, so it's not very convenient. Therefore, you should take her back and deal with her as you see fit within the realm. Just one thing: I absolutely do not want to hear any more unfounded rumors or hearsay."

Tan Yaojia immediately replied, "Yes, Your Majesty, please rest assured."

Heng'er has always spoiled his younger sister to an extreme degree, and today was no exception. However, there was something unusual in his eyes than before.

That was definitely not the look a brother gives his sister.

Even when he tried to hold back, he would still glance at Mengmeng unintentionally, and the tenderness in his eyes was something he couldn't shake off.

Mengmeng, that girl, would occasionally look up at her brother, her straightforward and passionate gaze revealing her thoughts clearly.

Based on Heng'er's performance before the connection was established... the Heavenly Emperor felt he could confirm it.

No matter how absurd it may seem, it still happened.

He coughed lightly and snorted in a rather sarcastic tone, "So that's why you were only telling me half the story that day."

Abruptly, a question posed out of the blue, left Mu Meng somewhat bewildered: "Father, what are you talking about? Are you talking about me?"

She didn't understand at first, but Mu Qingheng was so perceptive that he immediately grasped the meaning and glanced at the Heavenly Emperor with some trepidation.

The Heavenly Emperor glared at him.

Mu Meng asked in confusion, "Father, why are you glaring at my brother? He didn't do anything wrong."

He muttered to himself, "Just in case, we need to be careful now, for the sake of the future."

The voice was too low for Mu Meng to hear clearly, but Mu Qingheng, with his strong spiritual power, heard it perfectly. After a slight pause, he couldn't help but smile with lowered eyes.

With such a handsome face and unparalleled charm, his smile seemed to make the world pale in comparison.

Look at how pathetic he is!

The Heavenly Emperor glared at him again, exasperated, and waved him away impatiently: "Alright, alright, stop standing around here. Go do what you're supposed to do. I have a lot of things to do."

"Yes." Mu Qingheng agreed with a smile, then pulled Mu Meng, who hadn't yet reacted, away.

The Heavenly Emperor stared at their retreating figures for a while, then shook his head and chuckled, "These two children..."

*

On the way back to the palace, Mu Meng looked back and whispered to Mu Qingheng, "Brother, what did Father mean by those last few words?"

"It's nothing," he said with a smile.

Mu Meng didn't ask any more questions and nodded. Anyway, she didn't care much. As long as her father wasn't angry and she was exempted from copying books, that was enough.

As she walked, she looked up and saw that the mulberry flowers by the palace wall were in bloom. She excitedly patted Mu Qingheng and said, "Brother, wait here for me. I'll go pick a flower."

Mu Qingheng followed her gaze and looked over, his eyebrows slightly surprised: "The mulberry flowers are gray and bare, they're not pretty at all."

"But the elixir made from mulberry flowers is the most effective at removing scars, and you still have a scar on your shoulder."

After saying that, Mu Meng smiled at him and happily ran over.

As Mu Qingheng watched her retreating figure, his heart felt as if it were being gripped by an invisible hand. A bittersweet feeling welled up inside him, and his expression softened little by little. His bright, star-like eyes were filled with an intense, unyielding tenderness and desire.

A gentle breeze carried his soft voice, carrying his deep affection and love to the heavens.

"Mengmeng, grow up quickly. Your brother will always be waiting for you."

...

...

As the light dissipated, countless images gradually became transparent, disappearing bit by bit like wisps of smoke into the air, and everything around returned to tranquility.

Mu Qingheng opened his eyes.

Her thick, long, curled eyelashes trembled slightly, and her dark eyes slowly swept across the surroundings, as if still searching for the afterimage of the vanished scene.

He stood there stunned for a long time, then slowly lowered his head and gave a slight smile.

It was indeed a beautiful dream.

That was so wonderful, he didn't even dare to dream about it.

So beautiful, that was the path he was destined to take.

He respected and loved his father and his younger sister, protecting them under his wings and taking on the responsibilities he should bear.

But in reality, he ultimately took a different path.

Mu Qingheng looked down at his hands, suppressing the bitterness welling up in his eyes. From now on, he would never let the person he loved suffer even the slightest harm.

Different paths lead to the same destination; hopefully, it's not too late.

She ran over happily and hugged him affectionately, her face very close to his, her bright eyes reflecting his image. "Are you still feeling unwell? You seemed a little uncomfortable earlier, are you alright?"

Mu Qingheng instinctively reached out and hugged Mu Meng, gently embracing her. Then he realized that it was still dark outside. This illusion had spanned many years, but only a few moments had passed in reality.

He lowered his head, gazing at Mu Meng's beautiful face. The way her eyes curved made him momentarily dazed. He reached out and gently stroked her delicate cheek: "Mengmeng..."

"Hmm? What's wrong? You look a bit silly," Mu Meng said with a smile.

Infected by her smile, Mu Qingheng also smiled and leaned down to gently kiss her forehead. "Mengmeng, I'm sorry."

Mu Meng was baffled: "Why are you apologizing again... Ah, I know, you looked a bit off just now, did your Soul Shattering Dream flare up?"

Mu Qingheng didn't want to lie to her, "Yes, but don't worry, it's a very good illusion."

"Really? You'd apologize for a good illusion?" Mu Meng was a little skeptical.

However, my brother said before that even if he had an attack, it wouldn't be a severe torment. Judging from his face, he doesn't look like he's been tortured by excruciating pain. Could it be that what he said was true?

Seeing that he remained silent, seemingly deep in thought, Mu Meng smiled slightly, cupped Mu Qingheng's face in her hands, and said earnestly, "From now on, we must not say sorry to each other anymore. If we were to be precise, wouldn't I also have things I've done wrong to you, but I've never said them to you..."

“You never did,” Mu Qingheng interrupted instinctively, his eyes softening as he gently tightened his arms around me. “You never did anything to wrong me.”

Mu Meng cleared his throat to remind him.

Mu Qingheng chuckled, gazing at Mu Meng's gentle and lively appearance. Her picturesque features were etched into his heart, transforming into a soft, misty pool. "Alright, it was my fault, brother. I won't say such things again."

He leaned close to her ear and changed his words, saying, "Mengmeng, I love you, and I will treat you well."

Mu Meng couldn't help but laugh as she listened, revealing a row of clean, even teeth that made her look incredibly cute. She affectionately wrapped her arms around Mu Qingheng's neck, about to reply with a few sweet words, when she suddenly saw Mu Qingheng blink.

"What's wrong?" Mu Meng asked curiously when she saw him suddenly freeze in place, even though he had been perfectly fine just a moment ago.

"Mengmeng," Mu Qingheng glanced out the window, "Why did you come here alone so late? Why don't you listen to your brother?"

He coaxed, "Sweetie, don't be stubborn. This is someone else's house, and it concerns your reputation..."

Mu Meng was about to explode with anger, and pinched his waist hard with her small hand.

Having suddenly learned his lesson, Mu Qingheng dared not say anything. His phoenix eyes were full of innocence as he looked at Mu Meng very meekly.

Oh well, that's just how he is. Let him be.

Before leaving, Mu Meng hesitated slightly, then suddenly turned around quickly, gave Mu Qingheng a quick kiss on the lips, smiled, and ran away.

Mu Qingheng gazed at her charming and radiant back, shook his head with a helpless smile, gently touched his full, red lips with his fingertips, and couldn't help but lower his eyes and smile.

Different paths lead to the same goal; there's still time.
