"Hmph." The old horse exhaled two streams of white air from its nose and swung its front hooves lightly with some boredom. Luo Wen stood with his hands behind his back, his brows slightly furrowed. He stood at the city gate and looked around, not knowing what he was thinking about. Suddenly, he heard a slight noise behind him, and Luo Wen turned around.
Su Luoyin lifted the curtain. Her coarse cloth clothes had long been carelessly discarded on the carriage. Her waist-length hair was once again raised straight up. No longer acting like a maid as she had a few days ago, she imitated Luo Wen and gently raised a strand of her hair with a purple hairband. The rest of her hair was casually draped around her waist, but two strands of hair were left by her cheeks, gently brushing against her face in the breeze, adding a touch of alluring charm. She was wearing a light purple gauze dress with scattered flowers, and her waist was tied into a large bow with soft gold silk of the same color. Her smooth white skin and moist eyes were cold and beautiful. Although she had only done a little makeup, she still gave people an inexplicable feeling of being out of touch with the world.
Just wearing a colorful dress, Su Luoyin immediately looked like a lady from a wealthy family instead of a dirty little girl from the village. Luo Wen just watched quietly, and when Su Luoyin walked in front of her, she nodded gently and said, "Let's go."
"Okay," Su Luoyin agreed softly. She hadn't noticed it before, but after a quick wash, she felt a different sensation. Standing next to Luo Wen, also dressed in purple, Su Luoyin was stunned. The colors on their bodies seemed to flow, from Luo Wen to her, and then... tightly wrapped around her.
She had never worn purple clothes before, mostly pink, white and blue. Now, wearing this purple dress, it didn't seem so difficult to accept.
"Let's go into the city." Su Luoyin smiled softly, then looked up and said to Luo Wen, but everything stopped instantly when she saw the scene behind Luo Wen. Even her voice couldn't help but tremble, "This... What's going on?"
Su Luoyin was used to big scenes, so although his expression was normal, his heart was churning.
Behind Luo Wen was like a gloomy picture, with pedestrians coming and going as usual, a prosperous scene. However, if you look closely, you can easily find that their faces are dull, which is why Su Luoyin did not notice it in time when he got off the car.
At first glance, Biancheng now looked normal, but it had become a dead city. The pedestrians coming and going mechanically went about their business without making a sound. The entire city seemed deserted and lifeless. Yet, people kept coming and going, their movements slow and their expressions dull, like controlled corpses. This gave the entire city an eerie aura from within.
"Is this also part of the trap? It's too crude." Su Luoyin couldn't help but frown.
"It's not an illusion." Luo Wen said, "They are the original people of Biancheng."
"Then how did they become like this?" Su Luoyin paused, not knowing how to describe the group of people in front of him who were like zombies, so he just passed it over lightly.
"Backlash, interference." Luo Wen explained simply.
"Although mortals without any spiritual power cannot sense the enormous power within the city, they will still be affected to some extent, not to mention the interference caused by this strange and disturbing spiritual power."
"Interference?" Su Luoyin couldn't help but look at the group of slow-moving pedestrians and asked, "Will they always be like this?"
