Chapter 24 Tanjiro, calm down!

Tamayo was tricked into becoming a demon by Muzan when she was 19 years old hundreds of years ago. After becoming a demon, she went berserk and killed her husband and young child with her own hands.

Driven by her resentment towards Muzan and her own strong will, she briefly broke free from Muzan's control and conducted medical experiments and modifications on herself, thereby reducing her desire for human blood. Now, by donating blood to replenish the blood bags for the project for a certain period of time, she can maintain her sanity.

Yushiro, standing beside her, is a former critically ill person who was successfully assimilated into a demon using his own blood within 200 years. He also uses blood from blood bags to eat and satisfy his hunger.

After hearing Tamayo's explanation, Tanjiro had a look of sudden realization. They drank blood without harming people, which is why they didn't have the same smell as normal demons.

“Miss Chika, I don’t think you are a ghost, but you faintly emit a ghostly scent. The girl over here is a ghost, but the ghostly scent on her is even lighter than ours. Please tell me, what exactly happened to you?”

Tamayo spoke very seriously, and if it weren't for Yushiro's intervention, she would have immediately performed a "dogeza" (a deep bow) for Chinatsu and Tanjiro.

Normally, it would be very impolite for one person to evoke another person's painful past memories, but it was fine with Chika because she often had these memories in her dreams, and she had long since "adapted" to them.

Then Chika began to recount the tragedy that had occurred in the Kamado family. Even Tanjiro didn't know the details of this part of the story, and he listened quietly beside her.

Perhaps because Chinatsu's memory of this part was too vivid, Tanjiro and Tamayo felt the same sense of powerlessness as if they were there when she told the story.

There was no way to resist. The opponent was the Demon King, someone who stood at the top of this world. The thought of someone of this level slaughtering Kamado's mother and a group of minors, who were not even as good as normal adult men, was enough to make one despair.

Tanjiro clenched his fists, gritted his teeth, and his already red eyes became even redder.

Unforgivable! Unforgivable!

Tamayo, standing to the side, also pursed her lips; her resentment towards Muzan was not much different from Tanjiro's.

After learning about each other's situations, the two shook hands, made peace, and became friends.

Tamayo is a doctor who has been researching a drug that can kill Muzan. Don't think that Tamayo is wasting her time. You should know that Muzan was not born a demon king. In fact, Muzan was originally a human until he met the most outrageous existence in Demon Slayer: a doctor.

Through the doctor's actions, a frail human was successfully transformed into a cold-blooded demon king.

"Um... Chika? Could you give me some of your blood? And Nezuko's blood too, I want a little bit of both... I want to do some research..."

"Of course, no problem."

"Thank you so much!"

Chinatsu took the blood-drawing tool from Tamayo, drew some blood, and handed it back to Tamayo. Tamayo looked at the blood carefully and examined it. On the surface, she couldn't see anything unusual about it.

However, you can't see the blood. You can't see it in Chika either. Because of the blood draw, a small wound was cut and it has already started to scab over. Although it can't compare to the regeneration speed of a demon, it is still a speed that a normal person could never achieve.

"It's unbelievable."

Yushiro, standing beside her, couldn't help but complain about how quickly Chinatsu's wounds were healing.

After collecting blood from Nezuko, Tamayo expressed her hope that if given the opportunity, she could collect some blood from high-ranking demons, as this would help her experiments.

In order to turn his sister back into a human as soon as possible, Tanjiro took the quick blood-drawing knife given to him by Yushiro and nodded seriously to Tamayo.

Just as Tanjiro was about to ask Tamayo if she had any further thoughts on Nezuko's situation, he suddenly froze.

A peculiar scent wafted into his nose from a distance, and he could smell it despite the distance.

This was the second time he had smelled this odor; the first time he had smelled it was when his family was murdered.

Muzan! Muzan! Muzan!

Tanjiro's breathing suddenly became unusually rapid. He clenched his fists and stood up with a thud, turning his head to look in the direction from which the smell was coming.

He was absolutely certain that he could identify the strange smell that lingered in the house when the family was wiped out—it was the Demon King Muzan!

Tanjiro instinctively raised his foot, ready to rush towards the direction from which the smell was coming, but just as he was about to rush out, Chinatsu, who had also stood up, reached out and grabbed Tanjiro's shoulder.

"Tanjiro, calm down."

"Sister! That's Muzan! That Muzan!"

"Even if it's Muzan, do you think you can get revenge now? It seems you've misjudged your own strength because you haven't encountered any strong demons before," Chika said calmly, looking at Tanjiro.

The original owner of the body had personally experienced the oppressive power of Muzan, and Chinatsu knew the strength of Muzan in the story. In the original work, when Muzan met Tanjiro, Muzan ultimately held back and fled the scene, sending two of his demon subordinates to test Tanjiro.

But one can't be too afraid of the unexpected. The difference in strength is too great. What if Muzan is reckless and comes to test Tanjiro's strength personally? He might just get "1A and be instantly killed".

"Now is not the time. Let's take some time to calm down. We must avenge this wrong, absolutely."

Chinatsu's words gradually calmed Tanjiro down. Tanjiro took a deep breath and sat down on the ground again.

"You're right, sister. That's the Demon King, an opponent even Master couldn't handle. We have no chance of winning right now," Tanjiro murmured softly, his head bowed.

"However, sister, I have never seen that demon named Muzan. What does he look like?" Tanjiro asked again after a moment of silence.

After only a second or two of hesitation, Qianxia blurted out, "Michael...Jackson?"

"ha?"

Not only Tanjiro, but also Tamayo and Yushiro beside him showed puzzled expressions.

"Michael is..."

Tamayo said that she had never heard of the name Michael Jackson in all her years of life. Was he someone that Chika and the others knew or were related to?

Chika coughed awkwardly. Even if this were a fictional world, or even a world with completely equal culture, Michael Jackson wasn't born until 1958. He wasn't even born in the Taisho era yet…
