Chapter 114 Meeting the Protagonist
“Brother, it seems to be over.”
When the two arrived, the bright moon hung high in the night, but contrary to their expectations, there was no summer festival being held as they had been told.
It was as if something had happened; everyone around was rushing around.
Yan Sheng walked up to him, looked around, and sensed a faint trace of a ghost.
"Oh my, did you come here specifically to participate?"
Yoriichi Tsugikuni stopped a well-dressed woman, who blushed when she saw the two handsome men who looked alike.
"That's a real shame. There have been a lot of girls under the age of sixteen going missing lately, so for safety reasons, the summer festival has been cancelled."
"Okay, thank you."
After thanking the woman, Ji Guoyuan walked back to Yan Sheng's side and slumped down.
"I'm sorry, elder brother."
Yoriichi Tsugikuni hadn't expected this. He hadn't been paying close attention to the latest news, causing Iwakatsu to make a wasted trip with him. He said this in a sullen tone, while Iwakatsu, on the other hand, didn't seem to care. To him, it didn't matter whether it happened or not.
Honestly, when I go to summer festivals now, it feels like I'm strolling through a food street, or one of those trendy streets that pop up temporarily for holidays. They don't offer any new ideas, and I'm tired of seeing the same things all the time.
"Let's wander around then."
Iwakatsu suggested, as he was also a little curious about the ghosts staying here, and secretly glanced at Yoriichi Tsugikuni's face, which remained unchanged.
The two walked along the street when suddenly, Yoriichi Tsugikuni sensed something and stopped.
Kokushi's aura as an Upper Moon demon was too strong. Even though he suppressed it, Yoriichi Tsugikuni, who was next to him, had difficulty sensing the other subtle demonic auras around him.
Unless the other party has no intention or time to hide it.
"What's wrong?"
Iwakatsu turned to look at him, but Yoriichi Tsugikuni was staring at a wall. Iwakatsu thought that he might be looking at the ghosts in the alley.
Yan Sheng knew this, of course; it was so obvious, but he just didn't say it.
"Brother, may I go over there?"
Yoriichi Tsugikuni turned to look at Iwakatsu, his fiery red eyes seeming to see through all his thoughts.
"good."
Iwakatsu watched as Kikunojo leaped onto the wall before slowly following him, noticing that the other man's speed had slowed considerably.
Tsk, you're worried I'll sneak away, but you don't even realize that if I wanted to leave, it would be a piece of cake.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni looked at the end of the street, where the boy held his Nichirin Blade to the neck of the demon, questioning it.
"I can't say."
The long-haired ghost suddenly became agitated, shaking his head and trembling, his back slamming against the wall as a result.
"I can't say! I can't say! I can't say!"
Tanjiro Kamado remained silent, sensing the fear emanating from the other man. As if seeing something, the other man's intense emotions caused his severed arms to regrow, and he swiftly reached out to grab Tanjiro.
"brush--."
The red blade, wreathed in flames, cleaved the out-of-control demon in an instant, its shrill screams echoing around it. Tanjiro Kamado could smell the scorching heat.
Very strong; the person who made the move must be an extremely powerful individual.
Tanjiro Kamado rushed back to Nezuko Kamado's side, looking warily in that direction, determined to stop her at all costs.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni walked up and was somewhat stunned when he saw that Tanjiro Kamado looked similar to Tanjiro Kamado.
He hadn't expected to encounter his friend's descendant here, nor that the surviving child had joined the Demon Slayer Corps. His gaze lingered on the girl behind the other person, his eyes darkening.
Tanjiro Kamado looked up at Yoriichi Tsugikuni and recognized him instantly as the person he had brushed past years ago. Yoriichi's long black hair with red ends and his crimson haori had left a deep impression on Tanjiro.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni walked up to him, and seeing that the other party was warily holding the girl in his arms tighter, he carefully squatted down to look at Tanjiro Kamado at eye level.
“My name is Yoriichi Tsugikuni, and I am a friend of your elders.”
Looking into those lifeless red eyes, Tanjiro Kamado involuntarily relaxed a lot.
There was no trace of lying, only a deep sadness and a touch of nostalgia.
"Hello, my name is Kamado Tanjiro." He looked at the other person and replied, then seemed to realize something was wrong and showed Nezuko's face in his arms. "This is my sister, Kamado Nezuko. She had a little accident."
If the other party was able to kill a demon, it proves that he was well aware of it, or that he was also a member of the Demon Slayer Corps.
"It will be alright."
Yoriichi Tsugikuni patted Tanjiro Kamado's head, then turned his gaze to the man beside him who was shedding tears.
"Mr. Kazuki, are you alright?"
After helping his sister to rest, Tanjiro Kamado approached the man and asked him with concern.
"...I've already lost my fiancée, do you think I'll be fine?"
The man's eyes were unfocused, and tears streamed down his face. He asked calmly, and could only see a red figure squatting down in front of him.
"Sir, the dead cannot be brought back to life; you must look forward."
"No matter how much you lose, there is no other way but to live on with strength, no matter how severe the blow."
Hearing their conversation, the man suddenly became agitated. He grabbed Tanjiro Kamado by the collar and shouted, "What do you know? Kids like you, people as capable as you!"
Yoriichi Tsugikuni didn't speak, but lowered his eyes. Tanjiro Kamado gently grasped the wrist that was holding him, revealing a sorrowful smile, which startled Yoriichi into letting go.
"Here you go. It would be good if Miss Riko's personal belongings were kept here."
Tanjiro Kamado stood up and handed the piece of clothing containing the ornament to the other person. Yoriichi Tsugikuni also stood up, his gaze falling on Iwakatsu, who was holding Nezuko Kamado.
"Midouzi."
Tanjiro Kamado stepped forward and looked up at the man in the purple kimono before him, who looked exactly like Yoriichi Tsugikuni. His pupils contracted as he looked into the man's red eyes, and his body involuntarily tensed.
It smells like a ghost; the person in front of me is definitely not human.
"Elder brother."
Yoriichi Tsugikuni walked over and said something that startled Tanjiro Kamado. He looked at Yoriichi, whose gaze remained fixed on Kokushibo.
"Your sister."
Iwakatsu bent down and placed the shrunken Nezuko Kamado back into Tanjiro Kamado's arms, his movements carrying a subtle tenderness that made Tanjiro Kamado stare at him in a daze.
"thank you."
He carefully placed the unconscious Nezuko Kamado into the wooden box, locked it securely, and then carried it on his back. Yoriichi Tsugikuni watched, lost in thought.
"Hello, my name is Kamado Tanjiro."
He looked up at Iwakatsu and introduced himself earnestly, a move that surprised Iwakatsu. Kamado Tanjiro could sense that the other was very strong, but there was no dangerous aura about him, nor the rotten smell that other demons possessed.
The other person was surrounded by a warm scent, with a faint lemon aroma, which gave Tanjiro Kamado a comfortable feeling.
These two people might be like him.
