Chapter 15 Exquisite Slices of Meat

Chapter 15 Exquisite Slices of Meat

In a hurry, Yan Sheng, a wanted criminal, could only find a large courtyard surrounded by forests nearby to break into a private residence. Just as he closed the window and was thinking about how to explain his heinous act to the kind homeowner and get their understanding (physical understanding is also okay), he keenly smelled blood.

A demon's ability to sense the smell of blood is comparable to that of a hunting dog, let alone the smell of human blood. Yan Sheng subconsciously swallowed. He had been so busy completing the tasks given by the system and the scumbag boss that he had forgotten that he hadn't eaten anything since he became a demon.

Yan Sheng watched as the three figures dragged the corpse through Tong Xia's eyes, and slowly walked over. Listening to their voices blaming and accusing each other, Yan Sheng understood the cause and effect of the matter.

The two men and one woman were three siblings who had committed murder and robbery but were discovered and forced to flee. They had been too afraid to go to crowded towns until they wandered to this nearby area. There they met the owners of the house, a kind young couple who, after hearing their story of wandering due to famine caused by a natural disaster, warmly welcomed them and took them in.

The result was a home invasion and murder.

"Why did you hit me so hard? Your face is all bloody and mangled."

"Hey! You're just making excuses. You'd do anything to anyone, let alone someone with such a perfect figure."

"What a beautiful face! Tsk tsk tsk."

"You two, hurry up and finish, okay? You're such a seductive bitch..."

Yan Sheng listened as the two men continued to hurl insults at each other, interspersed with the woman's disdainful curses. Truly, the human heart is treacherous; Yan Sheng never held a rosy view of the world. In this era without a unified system, malice is amplified infinitely.

Yan Sheng didn't pay much attention to his footsteps, but due to his body's natural reaction, his footsteps were so light that they were almost inaudible. When he was not far from the three people, Yan Sheng stopped, his six eyes staring at the door that was only a meter or two away from him.

The three people inside the door were still oblivious, dragging the woman's corpse. The woman at the front forcefully pulled open the door.

"Squeak—".

The door opened, and the daylight illuminated the room, allowing the three men to see Iwakatsu clearly even from the shadows. The man stood ramrod straight, dressed in a kimono with purple snakeskin and black spots, and riding samurai trousers. His high black ponytail had crimson ends, and his height of over 1.9 meters exuded a terrifying sense of oppression.

Yan Sheng turned his head, and his face, with six scarlet eye membranes and golden pupils, was finally revealed in the refracted light. The middle pair of eyes, with their upper iris-like irises, stared at the three of them like cat eyes.

Looking at Yan Sheng, who was clearly inhuman, a chill enveloped the three of them. Just as the woman in front was about to let out a sharp scream, Yan Sheng slit her throat with a knife.

"Shut up."

Yan Sheng's voice was pleasant, but at this moment, such a cold voice froze the other two in place like ice. They opened their mouths but could not utter a sound, and could only watch helplessly as warm blood splattered on them.

Iwakatsu looked at the two indifferently, his gaze shifting downwards to the corpse they were dragging. Iwakatsu bypassed the woman who was bleeding and convulsing on the ground, passing between the two men.

The black ends of Yan Sheng's hair swayed with his movements, causing the two to unconsciously follow his gaze as he squatted down and reached out to brush aside the corpse's disheveled hair.

She looked like a very cute and gentle person. Her oval face was adorable, and even her terrified eyes revealed them to be almond-shaped. Yan Sheng gently brushed his hand across her eyes, a gesture his family had made to him before he transmigrated, to ensure the deceased's peace.

Yan Sheng stood up and mercilessly killed the two men who were trembling like leaves. After careful consideration, Yan Sheng picked up the woman in front of him who was barely breathing, and without hesitation, severed one of her arms, amidst her terrified gaze.

Yan Sheng held the delicately skinned arm, pondered for a moment, and then severed the hand portion. He carried the severed arm to the dining room of the house and carefully washed it with a basin of water.

That's right, Yan Sheng planned to overcome his psychological barrier and eat some flesh and blood to maintain his consciousness. Looking at the severed arm that had been washed clean but was still oozing blood, Yan Sheng felt resistance, but his body's incessant swallowing made him know that he had to try.

Unable to eat it directly, Yan Sheng raised his hand, and a small section of the illusory Kushin appeared in his hand. Based on his experience of making hot pot for himself in the dormitory, Yan Sheng cleanly and neatly deboned the arm, cut it into suitable thin slices, and placed them on a ceramic plate.

Yan Sheng washed his hands and looked at the bowl of uniformly thin slices of meat, wondering when his knife skills had become so good.

Yan Sheng washed a pair of wooden chopsticks and placed them, along with the food, on the low table next to him. After looking around, he took out some tea leaves from the cabinet next to him, brewed a pot of fresh tea, and placed it on the low table as well.

Yan Sheng looked at his exquisitely prepared lunch and praised himself with great satisfaction. "As expected of me, it looks delicious! It would be even better with soda!"

Using his chopsticks, Iwakatsu picked up the thin, pale pink slice, struggled for a moment, and put it in his mouth. The moment it entered his mouth, Iwakatsu felt tears streaming down his face.

So delicious, so incredibly delicious.

Before, Yan Sheng thought: How could I eat human flesh? It's too sinful and inhuman. Now, Yan Sheng thinks: I'm not human to begin with, so it tastes good.

Who could resist that? If it's really unavoidable, eating it occasionally is fine. Yes, it's for the body's needs; not eating it would have serious consequences, and moderate consumption will ensure good health.

While comforting himself, Yan Sheng kept showing off the slices of meat and quickly finished the whole plate. He reached for a tissue to wipe his mouth, only to realize he didn't have any.

"Tsk."

As a clean and handsome young man, Yan Sheng could only tear off a small part of the cuff of his inner shirt, wash it with water, and then wipe his mouth.

Elegance never goes out of style.

After finishing his meal, Yan Sheng began to let his mind wander. He wondered if this behavior would make him unlike himself. Yan Sheng could feel that since arriving here, many of his deeply ingrained behaviors from his past life had begun to change, with only his thoughts and ideas restraining him.

Perhaps it's because of the different times, or perhaps it's because he accepted the memories of Tsugikuni Iwakatsu. The behaviors and thoughts in those memories seeped into Iwakatsu's mind like rain, and Iwakatsu found a delicate balance between his own memories and those of the times.

By accepting the differences of the times while maintaining one's own identity, one can adapt to the environment. This is also true for Iwakatsu.

Forget it, I don't want to think about it anymore. Anyway, I can't go back. Yan Sheng knew clearly that he couldn't go back; his body had already been cremated.

Speaking of which, I even discussed with my second and fourth brothers what to inscribe on their tombstones after we die. I wonder if they still remember. I think I said something like, "Don't come empty-handed, at least burn some good things for me," hehe.

Alright, since it didn't go to the underworld, I won't need it even if it's burned.

Bored, Iwakatsu scrolled through the map, wondering where he should go next. Japan isn't actually that big, and for Iwakatsu, who'd been traveling everywhere since childhood, there wasn't much to choose from. Maybe he should go to Kyoto.

Iwakatsu casually decided on the rest of the itinerary.
