Chapter 169 The Transfer of the Potion
Ichiro pulled Yukiko off his face, and with his other hand took the cloth bag from her paw and placed it on Tanjiro's bed.
Tanjiro, out of curiosity, reached out to touch Yukiko, but just as he was about to make contact, Yukiko slapped him hard with her wing.
Tanjiro: (?–?)
Ichiro carefully took out the letter and opened it. He only read the first sentence before confirming that it was written to him by Iwakatsu. He read on carefully, his expression gradually becoming serious, his brows furrowing slightly, as if he were pondering some important matter.
"Ichiro?"
Tanjiro noticed the change in Ichiro's mood and a sense of worry rose in his heart. He looked at Ichiro with concern, trying to find an answer in his eyes. However, Ichiro simply smiled at him and gently shook his head.
"It's alright, don't worry. I need to go see Miss Shinobu. You get some rest." After saying this, Ichiro immediately got up and left the ward. His steps were a little hurried, clearly indicating that he had something important to do.
Tanjiro watched Ichiro's departing figure, his heart filled with doubt. He didn't know why Ichiro was in such a hurry to find Shinobu Kocho.
Following Shinobu's instructions, he hurried towards a room deep within the Butterfly Mansion. However, just as he was about to reach the door, he didn't notice the figure that had quietly appeared around the corner and bumped into it, feeling dizzy and seeing stars.
"Yiro?" A familiar voice rang in his ears. Yuichi looked up and saw that it was Yoriichi. Yoriichi was a little surprised to see Yuichi shaking his head so vigorously. He hadn't seen him recently and had heard that he had joined the Pillars' training program.
"Ah, Yoriichi-nii," Yuichiro said, looking at Yoriichi with a surprised expression. He had thought Yoriichi was no longer with the Demon Slayer Corps; he hadn't expected to meet him here.
"Still alive and kicking." Yoriichi looked at Ichiro. He had come to the Butterfly Mansion on the side to help Lady Tamayo get the poison from the wisteria flowers. However, seeing that Ichiro was alright, he was also very relieved.
"?" Listen to what you're saying, are you even speaking human language?
Yuichiro hesitated, feeling extremely annoyed. He wanted to curse, but knowing he couldn't beat the other man, he could only suppress his anger. He replied with a forced smile, "Of course, I can jump all the way to Tokyo."
"It probably won't work," Yuanyi said expressionlessly. Yuichiro twitched the corner of his mouth, but in the end, he didn't say anything.
The two of them walked side by side into the courtyard, and as soon as they stepped inside, they could clearly hear Shinobu Kocho and Kanao's conversation.
Shinobu Kocho's words were resolute and calm. She said, "If he eats me, it will be the same as ingesting 37 kilograms of toxins, which is about 70 times the lethal dose."
The air fell silent. Ichiro stepped forward and appeared in front of the two. He hadn't expected that what Iwakatsu Nobuyuki said was actually true, and his expression became complicated.
"Ichiro-kun?"
The two were surprised to see each other there. Ichiro stepped forward and held a test tube in front of the other person, the dark blue liquid inside swaying with his movements.
"Use this."
Shinobu Kocho took the test tube and carefully examined the liquid inside. A hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, but she quickly regained her composure.
She said softly, "This is... the potion that Ms. Tamayo researched, the No. 01 Restoration Potion. I remember this potion; its function is to suppress and kill the Demon King's cells, thereby achieving the effect of breaking free from Muzan's control and restoring consciousness, with a high chance of turning back into a human."
Shinobu Kocho remembered that the materials used to make the reagents included a rare blue liquid, and in the end, only three reagents were made. At first, she thought that the other party was giving them to her, but the other party gave a negative answer.
'I've already broken free of Muzan's control. This was originally meant for those with an excess of blood, and I might die there anyway.'
"Add this to your Nichirin Blade. He asked me to give it to you because he wanted you to live." Ichiro was also learning about the potion's effects for the first time, and he was actually a little angry; he hadn't expected Iwakatsu to not mention it in the letter. (Actually, the other party didn't know either.)
Shinobu struggled in silence for a long time. Her grip on the potion tightened unconsciously, and the chaos and struggle in her heart surged like a tide.
Finally, she let out a long sigh of relief, as if she had temporarily put down the heavy burden in her heart. Looking into Ichiro's eyes, she said earnestly, "I will reconsider my approach. Please thank him for me."
He nodded slightly, turned and walked out. He saw Yoriichi standing not far away. Yoriichi's figure was elongated in the afterglow of the setting sun, appearing particularly lonely. The emotion revealed in his eyes, which Yuichiro could see from their long-standing friendship, was worry and unease.
"Brother Yuanyi?"
Yuan opened his mouth, his voice low and slightly hoarse: "That potion... did my elder brother give it to you?"
——
Two days later, Tanjiro finally attended the Pillar training he had been longing for.
The first item was endurance training arranged by Tianyuan, which involved long-distance running according to the other party's requirements, and reaching the qualified standard within a certain period of time, thereby improving the individual's physical strength and endurance.
As soon as Tanjiro arrived, he saw Tengen angrily whipping the group of members who were exhausted and lying on the ground with his wooden sword.
"Your basics are a complete mess. You run so slowly. You can't even do something this simple?! You're already hopeless? Get up now!"
"Mr. Yu Sui!"
Tanjiro excitedly ran over. His arrival seemed to bring a pleasant surprise to Tengen. When Tengen saw him, a happy smile appeared on his face: "Yo! Long time no see. I heard you've hit the Upper Moon again. You're still in good shape. You're lucky. Keep waking up your sluggish body!"
"Yes! I will do my best."
Generally, it takes about ten days for qualified people to be allowed to go to the next Pillar. Tanjiro successfully met the requirements and went to Muichiro's place ten days later.
As Tanjiro approached the training ground, a sense of defeat washed over him. He stopped and peeked through the wide-open door. He saw Muichiro moving across the training ground at an astonishing speed, defeating several team members in succession, and finally gently pressing his wooden sword against the neck of one of them.
"Fine, you're dead. You've really not improved at all."
The downed team members looked frustrated, and one of them couldn't help but shout, "Damn it!"
Tanjiro stared blankly at the scene, momentarily stunned. Then, Muichiro's gaze swept over him, and a warm smile instantly bloomed on his face.
"Tanjiro—you've arrived!" Muichiro's voice was clear and powerful, like a refreshing spring that instantly dispelled the dullness of the training ground.
Tanjiro immediately snapped out of his daze and nodded seriously: "Yes! Please guide me."
