Chapter 44 Childhood 2

Chapter 44 Childhood 2

Kibutsuji Muzan was lucky; he found Lady Wada immediately. He glanced at the excited woman kneeling there and quietly went inside.

"Ah, uh..."

Muzan Kibutsuji extended his bone whip, gripping the other's neck tightly and pulling it towards his face. His blood-red vertical pupils stared intently at the other, his tone filled with threat.

"I heard you once obtained the Blue Spider Lily. You'd better behave yourself, or I'll make you suffer worse than death."

The woman struggled to breathe, tears streaming from her terrified eyes, her mouth opening only to utter "ah ah ah" sounds. She nodded and then shook her head, her carefully styled hair becoming disheveled. Her struggles intensified, further ruining her beautiful kimono.

"Muzan... Lord, why don't you... put her down?"

When Iwakatsu climbed in through the window, he witnessed this bizarre act by the scumbag boss. He had originally planned to rush to the scene to see Doma turn into a demon, but he hadn't expected to arrive too early.

Watching Muzan Kibutsuji finally throw the woman to the ground, Iwakatsu felt a little tired.

He grabbed her by the neck and interrogated her, no wonder that scoundrel couldn't find that damn flower in the original novel.

"Cough cough cough cough—".

Lady Wada collapsed to the ground, clutching her purplish-red neck and coughing violently, tears streaming down her face.

"Lady Wada, do you remember now? Do you have any blue spider lilies or not?"

Muzan Kibutsuji walked up to him, looking down at him. He asked in a highly dangerous tone.

"Waaaah—I, I saw it, it was at an auction, it was so beautiful...cough cough cough."

Wada struggled to sit up, his voice trembling as he spoke, tears streaming down his face. His eyes were filled with fear and helplessness as he looked at the other person.

"Stop talking nonsense!"

Kibutsuji Muzan lashed out with his bone whip again. Wada coughed up blood, her chest heaving violently, her vision blurry as she looked at him.

"Cough cough cough cough, that flower, after being auctioned off, was snatched up by a bunch of people, and then... it was torn to shreds... cough cough cough."

Wada covered her mouth, coughing up blood that gushed out between her fingers. Her body trembled, and she collapsed to the ground.

"Damn it!!!"

Muzan Kibutsuji's veins bulged. He felt he had been tricked by this woman. Several bone whips suddenly plunged into her body, absorbing her flesh and blood.

Iwakatsu stood silently to the side, turning to look at the doorway. He sensed someone approaching. Muzan Kibutsuji was still venting his anger, and Iwakatsu was helpless; the other man had come all this way only to find nothing.

"Hmph~ Hmph hmph hmph~".

A light, cheerful tune drifted in from outside, and Iwakatsu recognized it immediately as Doma. He glanced at Muzan Kibutsuji, who remained standing there without making a move.

Doma stopped outside, probably smelling the blood, but just a few seconds later, the other party suddenly flung open the door.

Douma stared at the corpse on the ground, then slowly bent down and touched the woman's head, his beautiful, seven-colored eyes filled with a look of fascination. The head still held a terrified expression.

"Oh dear, what a pity."

Muzan Kibutsuji frowned slightly, looked at Doma, and slowly walked up to him.

"Colored pupils, like glass, are truly rare."

Faced with this situation, Doma raised his head, blinked his seven-colored pupils, and looked at Muzan Kibutsuji's appearance without feeling afraid. Instead, he happily rushed forward.

"This is truly delightful! Are you a ghost?!"

"oh?"

Muzan Kibutsuji, who had intended to leave immediately, stopped in his tracks. He looked at Doma, his red vertical pupils reflecting Doma's face. Kokushibo's mind went blank for a moment; he hadn't expected this situation.

“Oh dear, a believer told me that she encountered a terrible monster, and several warriors saved her. She cried so bitterly, because her family was all dead.”

As if he could feel the pain himself, Doma wiped away non-existent tears and said sadly, supporting himself with one hand.

“She was so pitiful, she was in pain every day, so I sent her to paradise.”

As Douma spoke, he revealed an innocent and carefree smile, which sent a chill down Iwakatsu's spine. Iwakatsu looked at Douma and had a bold guess: he wouldn't have killed that person, would he?

Muzan Kibutsuji also thought of this, and seeing Doma looking thoughtful, he raised an eyebrow at him.

"It's a ghost, and then what?"

"Oh, that's wonderful! Do you have a way to turn me into a ghost too?"

Doma looked at Muzan Kibutsuji with great anticipation. Iwakatsu hadn't expected that Doma would be the one to volunteer to become a demon.

Iwakatsu looked at Doma. Doma's seven-colored eyes seemed to be smiling, but Iwakatsu couldn't sense any emotion from him at all. It was as if everything was just a superficial illusion, like a clown's mask.

"Oh? You want to become a demon? That's rare, isn't it, Kokushibo?"

What does this have to do with me? An elderly man is looking at his phone at the Yansheng subway station.

When suddenly questioned, Yan Sheng's mind went blank for a moment. He mechanically looked at the red vertical pupil that was glancing at him, and the dark gaze instantly brought Yan Sheng's mind back to normal.

"Yes."

Yan Sheng concealed the emotions in his eyes, met Kibutsuji Muzan's gaze without looking away, and answered the question expressionlessly.

"So, why do you want to become a ghost?"

Kibutsuji Muzan casually raised his pale, bloodless hand and looked at Doma with disdain. Doma wasn't annoyed by this attitude; he continued to smile.

“From a young age, I have always thought that it is extremely pathetic and foolish for people to confide in me and hope to be sent to ‘paradise’ for eternal life.”

Doma spoke, his tone devoid of any emotion, as if he were recounting someone else's story.

“My parents were like that, and so are all the people I’ve met. I think people are like a handful of soil, which gets stuck together with water, but after a while they will scatter and become a handful of soil again.”

"Humans are the same. Once they die, they turn into nothingness and feel nothing. After their brains and hearts stop and their bodies decompose, they return to dust. Every living thing has to go through this."

"There is no such thing as heaven or hell. People always prefer to deceive themselves rather than face the truth. They are too fragile, as if everything in the world can cause them pain."

As Doma spoke, his eyes darted around, looking at Muzan Kibutsuji.

“I thought, since they are in so much pain, my mission in coming into this world is to help them and get rid of their suffering.”

"You have a great ambition, and I will grant it to you."

Muzan Kibutsuji sighed, placed his hand on Doma's head, and then his freely retractable black fingernails suddenly pierced into Doma's brain, blood flowing from his fingertips into Doma's body.

Iwakatsu stood there, surprised that Doma was such a realist. He looked at Muzan Kibutsuji, then at Doma, who was suffering.

Doma was very strong, and his demon form lasted for quite some time, while Kokushibo did not leave immediately.

He subconsciously opened the panel, but the task displayed on it still showed no progress. Yan Sheng wasn't flustered; as long as the encounter was fine, he would slowly correct the situation.
