Chapter 176 Violent Explosion
"You've finally come to me... right before my eyes... Kibutsuji Muzan... the demon our clan has been searching for for a thousand years."
Kagaya's voice was very soft, but it was exceptionally clear in the quiet environment. Muzan just stared at him without saying a word.
"Tianyin, what does he look like...?"
Tenon looked at Muzan and answered Kagaya in a calm and clear voice: "He looks like a man between twenty-five and thirty years old, but his eyes are reddish-brown and his pupils are as long and narrow as a cat's."
"I see... I knew you would come... You hate me, and the Ubuyashiki clan, don't you... Only me... You would definitely come to kill me yourself..."
Kagaya's weak voice came through, but Muzan's mood remained unmoved. He coldly said, "I have completely lost interest. The clan leader who has been hunting me for thousands of years has come to such an end. How ugly. You are already rotting with the stench of a corpse, Ubuyashiki."
"Yes, the doctor said I didn't have many days left half a year ago, but I'm still alive, and the doctor has nothing to say." Yaozai trembled as he propped himself up, the bandages slipping down with his movements, and blood flowing from his eyes and mouth as he struggled to sit up.
"This is all because I'm determined to defeat you, Muzan..."
Muzan ignored him and said calmly, "Your floating, empty dream will shatter tonight, and you will be killed by me."
Tenon supported the swaying Kagaya, who then faced Muzan and recounted his connection with him.
"We have married wives from the priestly family generation after generation, so that our children are less likely to die... Even so... none of us have lived past thirty..."
Muzan listened to this tedious rhetoric and refuted it mercilessly, his words particularly harsh. Finally, he placed his hand near his eyes and curled the corners of his mouth into a smile.
“These things have no cause and effect. I have never been punished by heaven. Even though I have killed tens of thousands of people, I have never seen a god or a Buddha in thousands of years.”
They faced off. Kagaya coughed a few times and said, "What is your dream? For the past thousand years... what exactly have you been dreaming...?"
Muzan didn't reply. He felt a strange sensation. He didn't feel hatred towards Kagaya, but rather a strange sense of nostalgia and relief... How disgusting.
As Muzan pondered, he heard the ethereal voices of two children singing a lullaby. They seemed oblivious to his presence, playing with a ball. He frowned; there were only four people in the mansion, no guards or other personnel.
"Let me guess... Muzan, your dream is eternity, your desire is to never die."
"..." I didn't make you guess.
Muzan paused for a moment before replying, "Yes, and it's about to happen, as long as we get Nezuko."
"Your dream will not come true, Muzan."
"You seem very confident about where you're hiding, but unlike you, I have plenty of time."
"You... misunderstand. Eternity is what people long for; it's the longing that is eternal and unyielding. Killing my Demon Slayer Corps is of no consequence; I myself am not that important. You cannot comprehend the longing and connection we've maintained over the years..."
"Boring, your words are truly offensive."
Muzan stared at the other man, no longer wanting to hear Kagaya's nonsense, but the other man simply smiled and said, "Once you die, all the demons will be destroyed, right?"
His words made Muzan waver for a moment. He teleported next to him, his face grim, and extended his sharp nails: "Are you done talking?"
"Hmm, I didn't expect you to listen to what I had to say... Thank you, Muzan."
Kagaya paid no heed to the dangerous aura not far from him. He smiled and leaned against Amane. Just as Muzan made his move, the smell of burning gunpowder spread, and a powerful shockwave suddenly burst forth, accompanied by a deafening roar that shook every inch of the air.
Dust and gravel were hurled high into the air, scattering like leaves in a storm. The fire flashed and disappeared in an instant, leaving behind a trail of heat and destruction. Smoke quickly spread, obscuring vision, and the pungent smell of sulfur mingled with the acrid smell of burning, making it hard to breathe.
The towering flames caused the pupils of everyone who had gathered to shrink, and the flames began to spread into the mountains and forests, replacing the moonlight.
Ichiro saw Muichiro stop ahead and rushed into the fire without hesitation, his hand tightly gripping the Nichirin Blade at his waist, the scorching heat stimulating his senses.
"elder brother?"
Muichiro watched the figure being engulfed by the flames and quickly followed after it.
Muzan had anticipated that his opponent would set a trap, but he hadn't expected it to be this extreme. A massive amount of explosives destroyed Kagaya and his wife and children. The traps were filled with cross-shaped nails to increase their power, intended to delay Muzan's regeneration even by a second.
Muzan could sense the auras surrounding him; they were probably Pillars. He now understood that the other party was using him as bait. At such a young age, he had managed to perfectly conceal his killing intent until the very end, which was truly admirable.
Muzan forced himself to calm down; his body would recover quickly, and he could leave at any time. The other person's last whispers still echoed in his mind.
'You're afraid and want to get rid of Lord Tsugukuni, aren't you?'
Damn it!
Muzan gritted his teeth. That person must have done something. He had a very bad feeling and he had to leave quickly.
Just then, many fleshy spheres suddenly floated up around him, and before he could react, thorns sprouted from them and pierced his body, rapidly growing inside and fixing him in place, making it impossible for him to break free.
Muzan frowned. Although he didn't know whose Blood Demon Art it was, he could absorb this kind of attack in a short time.
"Pfft—".
Muzan suddenly widened his eyes. Before him was a familiar figure, whose hand pierced through the flesh of his abdomen.
"Tamayo—what are you doing here!"
He hadn't expected that the other party had reached an agreement with the Demon Slayer Corps, and couldn't help but roar out loud, while Tamayo simply raised her head, her messy hair sticking to her face.
Muzan noticed the paper talisman on her kimono and knew how she had approached him, but he didn't understand why she would go to such lengths to get close to him.
"Heh, you absorbed my fist, didn't you?" Tamayo smirked, her beautiful, pale face covered in a fine sheen of sweat. "Do you know what's inside my fist? It contains medicine that can turn a demon back into a human. How about that, it worked!"
Her words made Muzan's eyes widen. He tensed his arms and suddenly broke free from Tamayo's hair, his red vertical pupils staring intently at her.
"That's simply impossible."
"I did it! Things are much better now!!"
Tamayo sensed the other person's momentary wavering and mocked mercilessly, completely unconcerned about the hair being torn by the other person.
"You're such an annoying woman... Tamayo." Muzan's veins bulged as he released her hair and stabbed at her head.
"Breath of the Moon - First Form - Dark Moon Palace".
The blade, adorned with a golden crescent moon, flashed past, instantly severing Muzan and Tamayo's arms, and some of the thorns were also cut off in the process.
Ichiro swiftly grabbed Tamayo by the collar and pulled her back, but the iron ball that followed grazed his head and slammed into Muzan, its black spikes smashing his head into pieces.
"Lord Yuichiro? How come you are? Why?"
Tamayo never expected to be saved. She collapsed to the ground, her hair disheveled, and looked at Ichiro, who simply steadied himself and gripped his Nichirin Blade tightly.
"Someone asked me to tell you that your husband and children definitely want you to live happily, and even if you become a ghost, someone will always be with you!"
