Chapter 203 Side Story: Modern Era 2
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Tanaka quickly stood up and handed over the bag he was carrying. He acted so composedly that it was as if he wasn't the one who had just been clinging to Iwakatsu's leg.
The other person casually took it, then looked at Yan Sheng, who had also exited the elevator, and asked in a puzzled tone, "Who are you?"
Iwakatsu snapped out of his daze, met the unfamiliar gaze of the other person for a moment, and then slowly replied, "Hello, I am... Iwakatsu Tsugikuni, who was invited for an interview by Aogiri Co., Ltd."
Upon hearing this, the man frowned slightly, as if searching for something deep in his memory. After a moment, a look of sudden realization flashed across his eyes.
"Interview? Oh, I remember now." He nodded slightly, carefully scanned Iwakatsu, and then turned to walk towards the glass door. "You passed. Tanaka, you're here just in time. Take him to his workstation."
"?" Yan Sheng was full of question marks. He hadn't even taken out his resume from his briefcase yet, and he was already hired so casually?
Yan Sheng wanted to ask more questions, but the other person had already entered through the glass door. He sighed helplessly; the other person's appearance was all too familiar.
"I knew you could do it, sir." Tanaka shook Iwakatsu's hand with great enthusiasm, making Iwakatsu feel quite uncomfortable.
He smiled, subtly withdrawing his hand; he was still uncomfortable with physical contact from strangers. Following Tanaka inside, he found the space not only spacious and elegant, but also equipped with brand-new, fully-equipped facilities.
"This...is better than I expected." Yan Sheng felt that for a new company, this was not just good, but extremely good, even better than the environment of some medium-sized enterprises.
Renting out an entire floor in a commercial building in Tokyo's most bustling area is enough to show that this person is indeed very wealthy.
"The master originally wanted to buy it, but considering the young master's personality, he decided to rent it for a few years so the young master could try it out first." Tanaka smiled, pushed open a door leading to a simple office. He checked his phone and turned to Iwakatsu.
"Mr. Ji Guoyansheng, I have just carefully reviewed your electronic resume. The detailed experience and outstanding abilities you have demonstrated all highlight your exceptional qualities. Therefore, I have taken the liberty of assigning you the position of general manager."
Iwakatsu, who was just applying for a regular office job: ...Don't make decisions on your own!
Yan Sheng felt physically and mentally exhausted. Normally, he would have left without looking back, but this time he chose to stay. After all, he had promised. Oh well, he knew that person's temperament.
That's right, that arrogant rich young master is Muzan reincarnated. It has to be said that he was incredibly lucky to be reincarnated and still be so rich and powerful.
With the other person's face exactly like his past life and that arrogant attitude, Iwakatsu couldn't even hypnotize himself. After Tanaka left, he sat in a chair and contemplated life.
It really caught me completely off guard.
He scrolled through the company information document, rubbing his temples, feeling his headache worsen. Besides him and Muzan, there were only four people in the company now. They were only brought in to help because Muzan didn't know how to run a business; there had been a few others before, but they all ran away after only a few days.
Should I be thankful that at least I'm not short of money? Yan Sheng frowned and sighed.
Indeed, he was not short of money. Tanaka was probably worried that he would run away, so he kindly told him that the Muzan family mainly dealt in the oil industry, so it was okay for them to lose money in the early stages.
However, this feeling of relief didn't last long, as Muzan's sudden appearance interrupted his thoughts. The other man barged in without hesitation, strode forward, and slammed his hand on his desk.
His black curly hair swayed with his movements. He slightly raised his chin and looked down at Yan Sheng with his red eyes, saying, "I'm leaving now. I'm off work today. Here's your access card. Open the door yourself tomorrow."
Muzan's words were concise and direct, without any hesitation. After speaking, he didn't care about Iwakatsu's reaction and simply pushed open the door to leave, leaving Iwakatsu standing there in a daze.
Knock on the door! Wait, are you the boss?!
Yan Sheng snapped out of his daze, covered his face as he looked at Muzan's retreating figure, and decided he should hurry up and find out the situation before starting the recruitment.
However, he still needed to clarify some specific details about the company. After waiting for a long time without receiving a reply, he gave up on the idea of working overtime, packed his things, and left.
This unreliable behavior is exactly the same as before.
Yan Sheng got into the car and was just about to start the engine when his phone rang.
He frowned slightly, shifting his gaze from the chaotic road ahead to the caller ID on the screen—it was Yoriichi. After a moment's hesitation, he gently pressed the answer button.
"Brother, have you finished your interview?" A familiar voice came from the other end of the phone, carrying a hint of concern and expectation.
"Hmm." Iwakatsu replied casually, one hand on the steering wheel. His thoughts were still on his conversation with Muzan, and he seemed somewhat distracted by Yoriichi's question.
"So, what was the result? Are you satisfied?" Yoriichi seemed oblivious to Iwakatsu's perfunctory attitude and continued to inquire.
"not bad."
"That's wonderful. Brother, you are excellent at everything you do."
The voice from the other end made Yan Sheng feel inexplicably guilty, so he could only skip the topic and instead ask the other person, "Did you receive the message I sent earlier?"
“I saw it and replied to my elder brother.”
"..." Oh ho, he didn't see it.
Yan Sheng's heart skipped a beat. His initial guilt instantly turned into embarrassment. His mind raced, trying to figure out how to answer the other person. Fortunately, Yoriichi didn't dwell on it too much and instead asked about other things.
After hanging up the call that had been giving him a headache, Yan Sheng looked ahead carefully. There weren't many cars around, which made things much easier for him.
After parking his car, Yan Sheng went to a convenience store to buy a bottle of water. He was casually sending messages when he looked up and saw a very familiar figure from behind.
"Yoichi?"
Yan Sheng followed curiously. There was a girl with the other person, which made him feel a little strange.
"Thank you, Mr. Yoriichi."
A clear, pleasant voice rang out, and Iwakatsu saw Yoriichi smile, a rare occurrence, as he handed the bag to the girl. "You're welcome. Take care on your journey."
"Okay, goodbye!" the girl said with a smile, and jogged away.
Yan Sheng was very curious, genuinely curious, after all, this was the first time in so many years he had seen Yoriichi act like this with a woman. As he pondered this, a voice behind him startled him.
"Brother?"
"!!!" Iwakatsu suddenly turned his head and saw Yoriichi had silently come over at some point.
"What are you doing here, elder brother?"
With that same relaxed and expressionless face, Yan Sheng shook the water in his hands, smoothed it out, and replied, "Who is this, buying water?"
“She is the reincarnation of Koga. My brother probably hasn’t met her. She was my former wife.” Yoriichi said calmly, taking the briefcase from Iwakatsu’s hand.
Yan Sheng turned his head in surprise; he hadn't expected it to be his former sister-in-law.
Don't you want to be with her?
“Xiao Ge has a fiancé. Compared to someone as useless as me, that person is the best for Xiao Ge.”
Yoriichi's voice was very calm, but Iwakatsu managed to detect a rare hint of sadness in it.
“You are not a useless person.” Yan Sheng was not good at comforting people, so he could only dryly refute his words.
“Brother, thank you. Actually, I’m doing very well now, and I’ve been with you all this time.” Yoriichi said, a faint smile curving his lips, his smile as bright as the sun.
Iwakatsu felt a stomach ache reflexively, coldly averted his gaze, and quickly walked forward, saying, "Oh."
"Wait for me, elder brother."
