Chapter 206 Extra Chapter: Modern Era 5
When Yan Sheng woke up, the alarm clock hadn't rung yet. He rubbed his eyes, stretched out his arm and groped around for a while, then gripped the cold machine when his fingertips touched it.
He got up, picked up his phone, and glanced at it. It showed that it was a little after six in the morning.
He turned his head, but the seat next to him was empty. He was a little confused. He had gotten up very early, so why wasn't Yoriichi here?
He got up, changed his clothes, went to the bathroom to wash up, and splashed cold water on his face to wake him up. He'd been sleeping so soundly; was he just too hungry?
He opened the door and walked into the living room. Through the glass door, he could see Yoriichi busy in the kitchen, and for a moment, he felt a pang of emotion. He remembered how Yoriichi was completely clueless about cooking back then, and how Ichiro had lectured him several times.
He thought about it carefully, covered his face and sat on the sofa. Compared to his own skill of only making fast food, Yoriichi learned very quickly.
"Brother, you're up a little early today. Is something the matter?" Yoriichi took a bag of red liquid from the refrigerator and handed it to Iwakatsu, looking at him with his fiery red eyes as he asked.
"No." Yan Sheng took it and unscrewed it, a rusty smell wafting out. He took a sip as if it were nothing. He casually turned on the TV, and after noticing that Yuan was staring at him, he turned his head in confusion.
"You seem more human now."
Iwakatsu fell silent, unsure of what Yoriichi meant. He didn't actually need to eat regular food, though Yoriichi always did it with great enthusiasm, even though he could now taste it.
"Yoriichi, you shouldn't say those words again."
He didn't care, but now there were two children at home. If they heard this, they would think Yoriichi was a strange person, even though Iwakatsu always thought that Yoriichi was strange.
"Ah, yes, elder brother."
Yoriichi sat down next to Iwakatsu. The close proximity made Iwakatsu subconsciously move to the side until he looked up and met Yoriichi's dejected expression, at which point he awkwardly turned to look at the television.
"According to the latest news, Usui stated in an interview that he is preparing to retire..."
"Oh?" Yan Sheng looked at the silver-haired man on TV, whose face was full of impatience, and thought carefully. He remembered that he and Yoriichi were there when the man won his first championship. He didn't expect that the man would retire so soon.
He drank the bagged blood and looked strangely at Yoriichi sitting next to him, who seemed to have just been making breakfast.
Yoriichi, aren't you hungry?
“Yoichi has already eaten; it was prepared for Yuta and Muta.”
"Is that so? 'Demon Slayer: Kokushibo Tsugikuni Just Wants to Follow the Plot (Reborn as Upper Moon One)' Author: Sanshui Lin"
Yan Sheng didn't ask any more questions. He opened his phone and squinted at the 7:41 time displayed on it. He had indeed gotten up very early today; the boss's rule was to start work at 9:00, although he always arrived early.
As the two awkwardly watched TV, Yan Sheng's phone rang. He picked it up and saw the message that popped up.
Boss: Didn't you say there weren't many people? I met someone suitable last night...
Why is Muzan up so early today?
Iwakatsu was a little surprised, staring blankly at his phone for a long time. Yoriichi looked at him strangely and asked softly, "Brother? What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, I'm about to leave."
Yan Sheng quickly turned off his phone screen, got up and walked towards the entrance, casually throwing the bag with a little liquid left in it into the trash can.
"Wait, elder brother."
Yuanqi stood up, picked up his briefcase which he had neatly arranged on the table not far away, and quickly stepped forward. He watched as Yansheng put on his shoes and then his suit jacket.
"Why are you here so early today..."
"I didn't finish some work yesterday."
Iwakatsu casually made up an excuse, took the briefcase from Yoriichi, and said something. He looked at Yoriichi's downcast eyes, sighed, and reached out to ruffle the boy's fluffy head.
"I'm leaving, Yoriichi."
"Ah, yes!"
Yoriichi immediately perked up, and Iwakatsu felt as if he could see the tail wagging wildly behind him. He twitched his lips, withdrew his hand, turned around, opened the door, and left.
Even after all this time, Iwakatsu still wasn't used to Yoriichi being like this.
He drove slowly, glancing at the busy cattle and horses on the road, and remembered the message his boss had sent not long ago: a new employee... he wondered if he was reliable.
After parking the car, Iwakatsu checked his watch and turned to walk towards the coffee shop next to the building. The shop was crowded. After ordering a black coffee, Iwakatsu turned around and suddenly felt himself bumped.
"Oh, I'm sorry, sir."
As the sound came, Yan Sheng looked down and saw a girl with black hair, and a boy with pink-to-green hair wearing a mask next to her.
"fine."
Yan Sheng paused for a moment when he saw them, then quickly replied. The girl pressed the boy down and bowed shyly. Only after Yan Sheng reassured her that it was alright did she breathe a sigh of relief and leave.
Be careful.
"Okay, sister. By the way, that brother is really handsome!"
"You are just like your mother."
The two spoke very softly, but Yan Sheng could hear them clearly. He watched them leave, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"Sir, your black coffee is ready."
He heard a voice behind him. Yan Sheng took the coffee from the waiter and walked towards the building. He pressed the elevator button and stared blankly at the changing floor numbers.
It's strange, I keep running into old friends or their sons lately.
After stepping out of the elevator, Yan Sheng looked at the door not far away, strode forward, and the sensor door opened as expected. He walked around the reception area and entered, looking at Muzan lounging in the rest area.
"...Lord Muzan, you've arrived exceptionally early today."
Yan Sheng glanced at him through those red eyes, then casually turned away. After propping himself up, Muzan raised his chin arrogantly and said, "You have a problem with that?"
"No."
Yan Sheng stepped forward and picked up the documents the other party had placed on the table. He had to admit that although the boss was a bit incompetent in management, he was quite capable in other aspects. Looking at the outstanding new employees, he couldn't help but admire them. But when he saw two familiar faces, he paused involuntarily.
This is... truly a matter of fate.
Iwakatsu folded the resumes neatly and returned to his office after Muzan waved him off. He took out the two resumes and materials, looked at them, and after thinking for a long time, assigned them to the execution and marketing departments respectively.
The others were sorted out according to their needs and the positions they were applying for. Yan Sheng was busy until his phone alarm went off, reminding him that he had an appointment that afternoon. After organizing the documents, he picked up his briefcase and drove to the assembly room.
Juheya is a secluded and well-decorated shop. After Yansheng gave the front desk the room number that Yuejianli had given him, he was led through a wooden corridor. He could faintly hear voices from both sides, so it seemed that there were quite a few people there.
As Iwakatsu was thinking, the waiter led him to the door of the private room. The door was designed as an old-fashioned sliding door, and Iwakatsu subconsciously knocked on it. He heard a sound, and then saw the white door being pulled open, and Ms. Tsukimi greeted him.
"Mr. Iwakatsu, please wait a moment, they will be here soon."
Yan Sheng nodded. After all, this was a major client with whom they had a chance to collaborate in the future, and Yan Sheng felt it was reasonable to wait for them. He looked at the several plates of desserts on the table with some surprise. He couldn't help but recall that the information didn't mention that the client liked desserts.
"This time, it's the other party's younger brother, Mr. Iwakatsu. Oh! I forgot to tell you."
"fine."
Although this did make Iwakatsu unhappy, it was Tsukimi who had helped him, so he couldn't really criticize her. He sat there for a long time until a soft knock came at the door. He looked up and saw a face that was both familiar and unfamiliar to him.
"Tsukimi-ri, it's been a long time." The man took off his shoes and strode in, his eyes lighting up when he saw Iwakatsu. He sat down opposite Iwakatsu, casually picked up a decorative flower from the side and handed it to him, asking with a slight smile, "Beautiful lady, would you be interested in getting to know each other?"
