Chapter 200 The Ideal Future
"I brought you daifuku. Don't you like sweet food the most?" Yan Sheng opened the wooden box he was carrying, placed the small dish inside in front of the tombstone, and sighed.
He didn't remember much about them before he fell into a coma; he could only recognize them and recall a few things when they met. But as he merged with Iwakatsu Tsugikuni, he truly experienced his life. Iwakatsu stood up and looked at them silently. Unlike the previous ones, the old tombstone had no photos of them, only a few words.
How foolish of me to stay in that place for so long just to see you. But it's a good thing you stayed there, otherwise I was really worried I wouldn't remember what you looked like.
"Let's go."
Iwakatsu turned to look at Yoriichi, who had been standing to the side. Yoriichi nodded and followed Iwakatsu away. They looked up and saw the four people who had rushed over with flowers, placing a bouquet in front of each tombstone.
"Yoriichi-san! Kokushibo-san!" Tanjiro exclaimed with delight upon seeing the two, and strode forward to them. Kokushibo nodded to them; they were much more familiar with Yoriichi than with him.
"We've come to visit our former teammates," Yoriichi said calmly, reaching out to pick up the bouquet that was about to fall from Nezuko's head. After exchanging a few words, they parted ways, and Tanjiro only realized what had happened after watching the two figures disappear.
"Oh no, I was going to return the earring to Mr. Yoriichi. It was a gift from his mother."
Zenitsu bent down and placed the bouquet in front of the tombstone, replying casually, "Then I'll ask my older brother if he can help. He's been corresponding with Mr. Iwakatsu."
"Why don't we just ask the cook? Don't they live together?" Inosuke said, picking up the bouquet he had scattered. His words made Tanjiro realize something. The four of them worked late into the night, even placing bouquets on the obviously old tombstone.
"Eh." Nezuko's voice caught Zenitsu's attention. After finishing the bouquet, he went to Nezuko's side and saw a daifuku and a purple flower in front of the tombstone.
"It's amazing that poppies can bloom so beautifully at this time of year." Zenitsu looked at them curiously, but didn't reach out to pick one up. His words attracted the attention of the others, who also gathered around.
"Purple poppies? They must have been planted by Mr. Iwakatsu and Mr. Yoriichi. Let me see, the First Water Pillar, does it have any special meaning?"
Seeing the three people's puzzled looks, Zenitsu puffed out his chest and said, "It represents parting and comfort, but giving it to a friend is a way of wishing them well."
——
As Iwakatsu and Yoriichi walked, their footsteps were exceptionally clear in the quiet environment. Suddenly, a few cherry blossom petals drifted down in front of Iwakatsu. He stopped and was captivated by the delicate petals, lost in thought.
Yoriichi noticed that Iwakatsu had stopped, and turned to look at him, equally stunned by the scene before him. The cherry blossom tree swayed gently in the breeze, Iwakatsu's purple kimono and long black hair intertwined, making him appear like a painting.
"What's wrong?" Yan Sheng looked at Yoriichi, tilting his head in confusion. Yoriichi simply shook his head slightly, a fleeting, unfathomable emotion flashing in his eyes.
That's weird.
Iwakatsu didn't pursue the matter further, and the two continued on their way. They ran into Mitsuri, who was with Iguro.
Mitsuri's long hair, like cherry blossoms in spring, gradually turned to grass green, shimmering with a soft sheen in the sunlight. She stood side by side with Iguro, a faint pink bubble filling the air between them, a sweet atmosphere that was truly touching.
Seeing the loving couple, Iwakatsu recalled the engagement news that Muichiro had mentioned before.
"Oh! Hello~." Mitsuri bowed warmly to the two of them, and Iguro beside her nodded politely, his eyes shining with a gentle light.
"I heard you're getting married, congratulations!" Yoriichi also remembered the news and sincerely wished the two of them well. These words made Mitsuri blush and cover her face shyly, her long hair swaying gently with her movements, and a faint blush rising to her cheeks.
"Thank you!" Mitsuri looked at Iwakatsu with a happy smile on her face. Suddenly, she remembered something, and her eyes shone with determination: "I've found him! The perfect husband for me."
Seeing that the other person was clearly speaking to him, Yan Sheng was taken aback for a moment, then remembered and smiled, "Congratulations."
"Thank you!" Mitsuri expressed her gratitude again, her voice filled with joy and satisfaction.
After the four said their goodbyes, Iguro looked at Mitsuri, who was shaking her head happily, and his heart filled with tenderness. He asked softly, "Mitsuri, are you very familiar with that person?"
"Eh!" Mitsuri blushed a little at Iguro's intimate address. She turned her head, put her finger to her lips, blinked, and said playfully, "It's a secret~."
Iwakatsu and Yoriichi, who were not far away, could hear each other. Yoriichi turned to look at Iwakatsu without saying a word, but his gaze made Iwakatsu break out in a cold sweat and couldn't help but glance over at him.
"What's up?"
"Brother, can you tell Yoriichi?"
"Brother, can you tell Yoriichi?" Yoriichi's eyes were full of expectation, as if he was waiting for some answer from Kokushi.
However, Iwakatsu coldly refused: "No." After saying that, he walked quickly forward, ignoring Yoriichi behind him who was hanging his head like a large dog.
As they approached the Butterfly Mansion, the two saw Ichiro and Muichiro coming towards them. The two were inseparable, clinging to each other like conjoined twins. Ichiro noticed Iwakatsu and Yoriichi first, and he pulled Muichiro, who was wrapped around his neck, forward with a bright smile on his face.
"Brother, are you guys done with your work?"
"Okay, let's go back." Iwakatsu patted his head and replied. Ichiro nodded, tugged at Muichiro, and said in a dissatisfied tone, "Get up, you're so heavy."
"elder brother--."
"Stop." Yuichiro coldly interrupted Muichiro's coquettish offensive. Muichiro pouted and could only tug at the other's clothes with a unhappy expression.
The two followed behind Kokushibo and Yoriichi, their steps light and carefree, typical of children. The sun began to set, its afterglow bathing them in a warm golden light.
"Speaking of which, who went into the kitchen today? It's a complete mess!"
"It's not my brother, I think it's Yuan Yi."
"Feel sorry…"
