Chapter 193 Collapse
"Tanjiro!!"
The moment Zenitsu saw Tanjiro, the fear and helplessness in his heart seemed to find an outlet, and tears streamed uncontrollably down his cheeks. Seeing this, Tanjiro gently patted Zenitsu's shoulder, offering him silent comfort, before turning his gaze to Muzan, his eyes filled with determination and anger.
Tanjiro's memories flooded back like a tidal wave, each scene tearing at his heart. He saw those who suffered misfortune because of Muzan, the devastation of their homes and the separation of their loved ones.
Finally, his thoughts lingered on the snow-covered wooden cabin, once a haven for him and his family, now only filled with crimson blood and the smell of rust. He thought of Nezuko, tears streaming down her face; her vertical pupils and sharp teeth clearly told him that she was no longer human.
Anger and hatred burned like wildfire in Tanjiro's mind. He gritted his teeth, his hands clenched into fists, and his entire body trembled. He vowed that no matter the cost, he would avenge his family and all those innocent people.
Giyu walked to Tanjiro's side. He could feel the intense killing intent emanating from Tanjiro, which worried him. He drew his Nichirin Blade, his voice low and suppressed, as if speaking to Tanjiro, or perhaps reminding himself: "Calm down... calm down."
"You're so annoying! You people are so persistent, it's really irritating. All you ever talk about is revenge for your parents, your enemies, and your brothers. At least you've escaped unscathed, isn't that enough?" Muzan's tone was full of impatience and contempt. He couldn't understand the emotional bonds between humans and the root of their hatred.
"So what if my family members were killed? As long as I'm happy, everything will be fine as usual. Just treat me as a natural disaster and don't bother to investigate anything further."
"I don't understand why you can persuade and force others to accept the loss of lives in natural disasters, but you insist on investigating the matter thoroughly when someone is killed by a demon." Muzan's question was full of sarcasm and disdain, as if he were mocking the hypocrisy and contradictions of humanity.
The other party's calm and indifferent words stirred intense anger and grief within them. Muzan's words were like an invisible blade, piercing the deepest wounds in their hearts. He shook his hand, and the blood at his feet gradually changed color, becoming viscous.
Tanjiro's expression turned cold, his eyes seemed to lose all color, and his tone became extremely flat: "Muzan, you are a creature unworthy of living in this world."
Seemingly unwilling to waste any more words, Muzan swung his arms, which had transformed into whips, like two freely retractable blades, so fast that it was difficult to keep up.
When Muzan made a move, Zenitsu scooped up the injured Kaigaku and moved him away to a safe place.
Tanjiro and Giyu tried their best to dodge, using every move they could muster, feeling the whip graze past them again and again. Tanjiro concentrated, his eyes unable to keep up with the speed of the whip, he could only dodge by feel, and beads of sweat streamed down his forehead.
Taking advantage of the moment when Muzan was dealing with Giyu, Tanjiro crouched down and closed in on his opponent with incredible speed. Before Muzan could react, Tanjiro twisted and dodged the whip Muzan lashed out, his Nichirin Blade blazing with golden-red flames as he swung it at Muzan.
Success! They avoided it!
However, Muzan's reaction speed was equally astonishing. His cold expression flashed by in an instant as he dodged Tanjiro's attack. Tanjiro, having exerted too much force, lost his balance and fell to the ground. Worse still, one of his eyes was slashed open by Muzan's whip, blood streaming down his cheek and staining half his face red.
"Tanjiro!!"
As the whip lashed down again, Zenitsu flashed like a golden lightning bolt, precisely deflecting Muzan's attack with his Nichirin Blade. He gritted his teeth, his muscles tense, resisting Muzan's attack with all his might. At the same time, he grabbed Tanjiro's haori, quickly pulling him away from the danger zone.
"Breathing of Thunder - First Form: Lightning Flash - Divine Speed".
"Hold him back, don't get any closer!" Giyu shouted as he quickly retreated, his eyes fixed on Muzan.
Muzan was utterly disgusted. He didn't move an inch, but simply swung his arm, the whip still striking relentlessly. His eyes were filled with indifference and disdain, as if mocking their powerlessness and struggle.
He sensed Iwakatsu's presence and wanted to ask him something, but the insects in front of him kept distracting him, while the information Nakime kept sending him occupied his mind.
"You want to delay until the sun rises? What a waste of effort... the sunlight can't reach the Infinite City."
Blood began to drain, and his eyes and sense of smell couldn't react in time, causing Tanjiro's steps to become increasingly unsteady. As he dodged another whip attack, he stumbled, and his head involuntarily slammed into a wooden board.
Oh no, the wall! I was so focused I didn't notice my surroundings.
The whip came at lightning speed, like a shadow, and at the critical moment, Mitsuri burst through the wall and appeared above Muzan's head, her pink Nichirin Blade waving like a ribbon with her movements.
"Love Breathing - Land Form - Cat Feet Love Wind"
As Mitsuri's body spun, her supple Nichirin Blade whirled and slashed, not only deflecting Muzan's attack but also striking towards Muzan himself. However, Muzan's skin seemed indestructible; the blade left no mark as it passed.
Mitsuri, having missed her attack, immediately retreated. At the same time, Iguro scooped up Tanjiro and quickly moved aside. His tone was cold, but his eyes revealed a hint of concern: "Useless coward... get out of here."
Muzan frowned. Nakime knew all the movements and relayed them to him. The information she conveyed was that Kokusatsu had broken free from Yoriichi and appeared alone in the Infinity Castle, stopping five people, including three Pillars, and severely injuring two others. How did this happen? Why did these two appear before him unharmed and without warning?
"What are you doing, Nakime!"
"What are we doing? We're manipulating this woman's vision, of course."
The voice that answered him was unfamiliar to him. He could sense a man standing behind Nakime, whose hand was inserted into Nakime's head. The man's extraordinary skills and aura revealed his identity as a demon.
"Muzan, for the sake of the most important person to me, for her wish, go to the surface!!!"
As he finished speaking, the Infinity Castle, which had only been swaying, began to distort, and their surroundings constantly changed. The shifting pressure made everyone uncomfortable, and Tanjiro and the others tried their best to maintain their distance from Muzan.
——
The Infinite City shook violently. Yan Sheng leaped up a few steps to dodge the changing buildings, as collapsing debris continued to fall.
The Infinity Castle was about to collapse. He knew the story was coming to an end. He frowned and, after parting ways with Ichiro and the others, began searching for Yoriichi.
Given his familiarity with the place, it should have been easy for him to find it, but he couldn't, and a sense of panic left him feeling lost and helpless.
He frantically tried to reassure himself, "It's alright. The shaking of the Infinite City proves that the two of us haven't met." The moment he passed through the wooden door again, the building began to collapse. He crouched down on the wooden planks beneath his feet, feeling the sensation of being thrown upwards at breakneck speed.
"Bang—".
The ground shattered, and countless wooden planks and wall fragments flew everywhere. Yan Sheng flipped over and landed steadily on the ground. He stood up and quickly rushed towards Muzan's direction.
