Chapter 39 Changing one's mind

Upon hearing the shout, Madam Wang frowned and looked at Wang Yuzhen, who was dressed in her wedding gown, with displeasure. She said, "Why aren't you in the bridal chamber? What are you doing out here?"

After speaking of Wang Yuzhen, Madam Wang looked at the nanny and maid who had accompanied her and said unhappily, "What are you all good for? How could you let Madam come out at this time?"

The nanny and maidservant immediately knelt down, not daring to utter a sound. They had tried to persuade her, but Wang Yuzhen insisted on coming, and they had no choice.

After all, she's not just a young lady from the household now, but also the Lady of the Marquis. What if these servants disobey her, and she finds a pretext to beat them or sell them off?

"Aunt, don't be angry. I came here of my own accord." Wang Yuzhen made an excuse for the nanny and maid, knowing that she shouldn't have come.

But she couldn't get over it; she couldn't overcome that hurdle in her heart.

Today, during the wedding ceremony, she was utterly humiliated. After much thought, she finally suspected Yunzhi. Previously, when the old lady tried to poison Yunzhi, she had seen through the scheme immediately. At that time, she had guessed that Yunzhi was capable of using poison.

After what happened today, she thought and thought, but she couldn't possibly have eaten something wrong. Since she didn't eat anything wrong, then someone must have poisoned her. Otherwise, why would she fart at this particular time of year?

Having figured this out, she was filled with rage. Upon learning that the old lady had stopped Yunzhi, she could no longer sit still; she wanted revenge, she wanted to humiliate Yunzhi severely. Otherwise, she wouldn't be able to swallow her anger.

"Outrageous! What kind of bride runs away from home?" Madam Wang shouted angrily, "Someone, take Madam back to her bridal chamber."

"Aunt, please don't send me away, okay? As you know, what happened today has not only humiliated me, but also the Marquis's mansion and you, my aunt. And this whole thing was Yunzhi's doing. So, I can't leave; I have to get my revenge."

Hearing this, Yunzhi finally reacted, looking coldly at Wang Yuzhen, and said, "Wang Yuzhen, you can eat more, but you can't say whatever you want. Which eye of yours saw me do this? You can't control your mouth, you make a fool of yourself, and you blame others for losing face. You really are of the same ilk."

"Yunzhi, do you dare swear to God that what happened to me today wasn't done by you?"

Why should I listen to your oath? I didn't do it in the first place.

“You wouldn’t dare, so this matter is inextricably linked to you.” Wang Yuzhen looked at Yunzhi with hatred in her eyes, convinced that she was responsible for everything.

“Wang Yuzhen, judging a case requires evidence. Show me the evidence! You’re just making baseless accusations and saying I did it. What, you’re trying to pin the blame on me when you’re the one with the problem? You’re dreaming.”

"You?" Wang Yuzhen's face was very ugly. She had no evidence. But her intuition told her that Yunzhi must have been behind it.

At this moment, she couldn't help but feel a pang of regret, regretting that she had brought Yunzhi along. If she hadn't invited her, would this whole thing have been avoided, and would she have avoided losing face?

But time cannot be turned back, and what's done is done; there's no use in regretting it now.

Since regret was useless, she had to vent her anger. Therefore, Wang Yuzhen's face turned cold, and she suggested to Wang Shi, "Aunt, Yun Shi is being ungrateful. We can't let this go. Luckily, I have some good food here. Let's give it to her."
