Chapter 59 Braided Hemp Rope

I looked around and it was exactly as I expected. The surrounding environment had changed drastically, and all the traps we had set up before were destroyed.

"Brother Fei, now that the traps are destroyed, what should we do now?"

Jiang Chu looked at me and had no idea what to do.

"There's only one day left today. It's probably impossible to rebuild the trap, but I've come up with the most convenient way."

I pulled Jiang Chu into the jungle.

My eyes wandered through the jungle for a long time before I said, "Wait here for me. I'll go find some vines!"

Basically, my favorite is the white vine, but after the strong wind, the vine disappeared. I walked into the jungle and groped for a long time, but this time my luck was pretty good. I saw what I wanted.

Not far into the jungle, I saw a relatively large tree with vines hanging from its branches, like a weeping willow.

Perhaps it is precisely because of the height of this tree that the vines on it can be preserved so intact, otherwise they would probably have ended up like the other vines.

This tree is too tall. I have lived for more than 20 years and have never seen such a thick giant tree. I don’t know what the scientific name of this tree is, but I pulled a vine at random and took a look. It is about the thickness of a pencil. If it is twisted together to make a simple twisted rope, it should be able to support the weight of a person’s body.

Making hemp rope is very simple, just wrap them around each other, the difficulty lies in connecting them into a long rope.

This kind of physical work was naturally given to me. Jiang Chu was only responsible for collecting vines. I tied a knot between the two pieces of hemp rope like tying shoelaces, but because the vines were not soft enough, the knot was not very tight. So I stepped on it with one foot, held one end of the rope with both hands, and pulled it hard. It was finally tighter.

Before I knew it, it was already noon. I glanced sideways and saw a red sun emitting violent rays of light where the sea and the sky met, baking the earth.

Occasionally a sea breeze blows, and it finally feels a little cool.

"We have to hurry up, otherwise it will be difficult if it gets dark!"

"Um!"

We all sped up our work, fearing that we wouldn't have enough time to finish.

"Done!"

When I was almost exhausted after tying the last part, joy surged in my heart.

"Achu, let's drag it to the edge of the cliff!"

I saw a steep cliff from a distance, the top of which could be used as an excellent ambush site.

Jiang Chu and I each pulled a length of hemp rope and laboriously made our way to the edge of the cliff. The rope was incredibly heavy, and I was impressed by how we could actually make such a long rope. Finally reaching the edge, I found a relatively high ridge and tied one end of the rope to it, even wrapping it around and pulling it to the edge of another ridge about 10 meters away.

I saw that I had left enough hemp rope between the two bulges, and inserted wooden sticks between the ropes. Jiang Chu and I placed stones and logs behind the wooden sticks.

This is a huge project. Fortunately, there are more rubble on the cliff than I thought, otherwise the two of us would have to work hard to find rocks everywhere.

The hemp rope is quite strong. After I rescue the people, I will retreat from here. Jiang Chu's task is only to wait here. After we pass, he will directly cut the hemp rope and injure the enemies behind to buy time.

After making the rope trap, we were both exhausted.

"Although we have completed such a major project, we cannot relax yet. There are still two major projects that we need to complete."

"What big project?"

"Let's go find some food first."

According to the information provided by Jiang Chu, there are currently 5 brothers imprisoned. After all of them are rescued, including the two of us, there will be a total of 7 people. For such a large team, I cannot guarantee that there will be enough food to supply them, so I had to make plans early and prepare the food one day in advance.

"After the typhoon, the fruits on the island were basically gone, and edible food was almost gone."

Jiang Chu followed behind me, looking at the mess around us. I was still relatively optimistic, but this girl was very pessimistic.

"Don't worry, I don't intend to let the brothers eat the fruit. I will let them have a good meal."

After the typhoon, half of the forest was destroyed. This was our opportunity. I had never eaten meat in all the days I had been on the island. This time, the typhoon directly destroyed the habitats of most animals. The animals had no homes and had to migrate everywhere, so my chance came.

If we encounter danger when we go out for an outing and cannot escape temporarily, setting traps to catch prey is undoubtedly one of the best ways to obtain food.

When you're in a survival situation with little food, the last thing you want to do is burn tons of calories. That's why trapping is the best way to catch prey.

Once the trap is set, you just sit there and wait until you catch your prey to avoid wasting precious calories. I thought about using traps to hunt animals when I was on the island earlier, but we had enough food at that time, so I didn't want to take the trouble to make traps. But now we don't have that much food, and after the typhoon, we have no fruit to eat, so I have to consider the actual situation.
