Chapter 47: Reunion with an Old Friend

I had planned to use the coconut shell to collect some rainwater after drinking the coconut juice, but now it seems that this plan has fallen through.

After drinking the coconut juice, my throat felt better. Paired with the hot mushrooms, I managed to get through the day easily.

Food is easy, but the water source is giving me trouble.

After dinner, I walked out of the cave and looked around, but I didn't find the fresh water source I was hoping to see.

But thankfully, God still favored me.

Although I didn't find any water, I did find a few birch trees.

I remember that when we were on a mission and there was no water to drink, the old squad leader brought us birch sap to drink.

The juice is considered a gift from nature and a natural supplement.

I just want to take the juice to drink, and I don't want to harm the whole tree for my own selfish reasons.

I first found a small piece of hollow sycamore branch, which can be used as a conduit or habit.

Then I used a knife to make a small hole in the surface of the birch tree, and then I planted the tube.

The other end of the tube is a coconut shell that I fixed to the ground.

The juice flowed into the coconut drop by drop through the catheter.

I estimated that I would be able to harvest a full bowl of birch sap the next day.

I was too tired today and had no intention of continuing to look for other food.

I don't plan to let the flame in the cave go out. At night, I can find a piece of wet wood nearby to keep the fire going, saving me the trouble of making a fire next time.

I was woken up by the cold the next day. The temperature on the island became extremely low after the rain.

My task that day was very difficult. First, I needed to find food, and second, I needed to make a raft.

At this time, Qin Lan was alone in the cave. The group of people at the foot of the mountain were eyeing her covetously. Although they could not go up the hillside for the time being, the food in the cave was only enough for Qin Lan to use for half a month at most. Therefore, I had to go back within half a month.

My range of activities from yesterday to today is limited to the place where I landed yesterday. I don’t plan to go further, because if there is any danger or wild beast, there is no possibility of escape in my current condition.

I simply found some wild fruits to fill my stomach temporarily.

I didn't find any bamboo around here at all.

My original bamboo raft was already in tatters due to the wind and waves.

I tried to cut down some trees to make a raft, but my knife was not able to cut down the trees, and this was where I encountered my greatest difficulty.

If my guess is correct, if I can't find any bamboo, I might have to stay on this island forever. Of course, this is the most fucked-up outcome I have imagined.

I can't believe the world would play such a big joke on me. I must go back to save Qin Lan.

Maybe I'm not exercising enough.

In order to find bamboo, I expanded my range of activities.

After searching for several hours, I finally found signs of bamboo in one place.

It's just that the grass and trees around here are very messy, which shows that someone has walked there.

But no one should end up here. Could it be a savage?

Although I was a little scared, I couldn't care less in order to go back and save Qin Lan.

Just as I took a few steps forward, I lost my balance and stumbled and fell into a big pit.

The surface of this big pit is decorated with vegetation. It is obviously a man-made trap. It turns out that someone arrived at this island before me.

The cave walls were too slippery and were sealed with bamboo on all sides, so I couldn't climb out at all.

I don't know who set this trap.

Among the currently known people, Xiao Chen is probably the only one who has not appeared.

I subconsciously thought of Xiao Chen, simply because there are too many mysteries about this guy that need to be solved. If these mysteries cannot be solved, then the truth of the conspiracy behind this disaster will probably be buried in the sea.

I can't think so far ahead at the moment, and my own comfort is at stake. For some reason, even though I am in a trap at this moment, I am not worried at all, and my sixth sense tells me that I am likely to get lucky next.

I fell asleep while thinking about this.

I don’t know how long it took, but I finally woke up to a sound of shouting and cursing.

"Damn it! The trap I used to catch sheep got stepped on by someone like that."

"Since I can't eat the lamb, I'll chop you into pieces today."

These words of cursing woke me up from my deep sleep.

The first thing I saw when I woke up was a fat man.

The fat man was bald, and the scar on his left cheek was clearly visible.

"Are you Zhang Biao?"

I've heard this from Liu Qiang before.

"Hey, where did you hear of my name?"

As Zhang Biao spoke, he rolled up his sleeves to reveal the tattoos on his body.

"Are you really Zhang Biao?"

I don’t dare to take Liu Qiang’s words seriously. After all, mercenaries’ words are all lies to protect themselves.

"I'm Zhang Biao from Nanwan, my brother."

"You don't have to try to get close to me, kid. You deserve to be in my hands today. Alright, put on this rope yourself and I'll pull you up. If you try any tricks, be careful of the consequences."

While Zhang Biao was speaking, he threw down a rope and signaled me to put it on myself.

Although Zhang Biao is a bit arrogant, he doesn't look like a bad person. I don't believe that this guy is the planner of this event.
