Chapter 47
Tang Ruxin was wrapped in a blanket, holding a cup of steaming water in her hand, and frowned as she looked at the person who was being questioned by the community security guard.
The man was young, looking no more than thirty. His hair was long, dyed green, and he wore two earrings in one ear. He had striking features and a tall stature, the kind of person who would turn heads as he walked down the street. At that moment, he was shaking his leg, squinting at the security guard in front of him with a nonchalant expression, a provocative smile etched in his face.
"Why do you say I threw the flowerpot? Do you have any evidence?"
"If you didn't throw it, why are you running?"
The man sneered and said, "Late at night, in a dark corridor, someone hits you with a shoe without saying a word and jumps on you to attack you. If it were you, wouldn't you run away?"
The security guard looked at Tang Ruxin who was sitting next to him and said seriously, "Don't run. I've never been pounced on by a girl in my life."
The man was startled and the smile on his face almost disappeared.
Another security guard nudged his unreliable colleague with his elbow and continued to ask:
"You're not a resident of this complex. The surveillance footage shows you entered the complex at 5 p.m. What are you doing here?"
The man rolled his eyes and looked out the window of the security room, looking as if he didn't want to care.
Chen Jingzhou stepped forward, put his hand on his shoulder, and asked with a smile, "Want to go to the police station to talk?"
Facing the person who had pinned him to the ground with just one move, he seemed to be still frightened, so he spoke reluctantly:
"I want to buy a house and come to see the environment."
"Did you watch it for more than three hours?"
"Isn't it possible?" He raised his head provocatively and glared at Chen Jingzhou. "This neighborhood is so big, what's wrong with watching for three hours? Is it illegal?"
Yu Lei stood by the wall near the door, looking at his phone, never saying a word.
The door of the security room was pushed open, and Song Mu came in holding a thermos cup. He walked straight to Tang Ruxin and handed the cup to her.
"Ginger soup, my mother made it. Drink some to ward off the cold."
Tang Ruxin shook her head, took it and put it aside, then asked him, "Do you know that person?"
Song Mu turned his head to take a look and said, "I haven't seen it."
"He said he's an industrial cleaning employee at our company, his name is Han Yixiao."
Song Mu was shocked. "You really have a grudge against me? I don't remember that."
After saying these two sentences, Tang Ruxin's throat began to feel burning and painful, and she lowered her head and coughed a few times.
"Drink some. You won't catch a cold if you run barefoot in the snow for so long without a coat." Song Mu picked up the thermos, opened the lid and handed it to her again.
Tang Ruxin took it, set it aside again, and looked at him coldly. Seeing this, Song Mu had no choice but to give up and closed the lid of the thermos cup angrily - he was familiar with this expression, which meant "If you keep talking nonsense, get out."
Han Yixiao was as careless as a piece of meat on a rolling pin, talking nonsense all the time, and no matter how he was asked, he refused to admit that the flowerpot had anything to do with him.
At this time, Yu Lei's cell phone rang and he answered the call.
"Have you finished collecting evidence? Okay, take it back and compare it. Thank you for your hard work overtime. Send me the conclusion first, and I'll write the report tomorrow."
His voice was not loud, but loud enough for everyone in the security room to hear.
Han Yixiao, who had always been nonchalant, finally looked gloomy. He stared at Yu Lei and said through gritted teeth, "You policemen only show up when you're not needed."
Yu Lei put away his phone, tilted his head and looked at Han Yixiao, saying with a half-smile, "Stop acting like a spoiled child. What happened to you, little boy? It's okay. Go back to the police station and tell them slowly. The police will take care of it for you."
Before he could finish his words, Han Yixiao cursed and jumped up, ready to attack.
"Don't move!"
"Sit down! Sit down honestly!"
The two security guards pointed at him and shouted, but Chen Jingzhou was quicker. The moment Han Yixiao moved, he had already raised his hand and firmly pressed it against his shoulder. Chen Jingzhou knew Yu Lei was up to something when he heard his unruly tone.
He and Yu Lei were eating fried noodles on the side of the road when they received Song Mu's call. With just the two of them, there was no one to collect evidence. After all, Song Mu hadn't gone through the proper police channels, and he'd also mentioned that Tang Ruxin had gone after him alone, so they didn't dare delay and came straight over.
"Throwing objects from high places carries a maximum sentence of one year. If intentional, it can constitute endangering public safety by dangerous means, punishable by more than ten years in prison, life imprisonment, or the death penalty. Children, are you ready for prosecution?"
Yu Lei was still smiling, and even threw a cigarette to Chen Jingzhou, looking nonchalant.
Chen Jingzhou raised his hand to catch it, tucked it behind his ear, then patted Han Yixiao on the shoulder and said, "Before the evidence collection has concluded, it's considered voluntary surrender. If you gain the victim's forgiveness, the public prosecution can be converted to a private prosecution, and the case can be dropped through proper mediation. Why would someone so young want to lose their job after getting a criminal record?"
Han Yixiao's face was pale and blue. He knew that these two people were playing the good cop and the bad cop, and he didn't want to fulfill their wishes, so he stiffened his neck and said nothing.
Seeing this, Yu Lei nodded and said, "Okay, take it back."
"Why are you arresting me? Do you have an arrest warrant? You're arresting people?" Han Yixiao immediately stood up and shouted loudly, while swinging his arms to block Chen Jingzhou's touch.
"We still need an arrest warrant for a criminal in flagrante delicto. You've watched too many police and gangster movies!" Chen Jingzhou slapped him on the back of the head. "If you don't cooperate, I'll cuff you."
Han Yixiao was pinched by Chen Jingzhou from the back of the neck and walked out of the security room, and he dared not resist anymore.
"Please take a note." Yu Lei turned his head and said to Song Mu.
"Okay." Song Mu responded, "Can I go to the police station later? I want to take Mr. Tang to the hospital to treat his injuries first."
Yu Lei looked at him meaningfully for a moment, staring at him until Song Mu felt uncomfortable all over, and then he said:
"She has to go too."
Song Mu pondered for a moment, looked at Tang Ruxin's bare left foot, then looked at her wrist which was scratched under her sleeve, and hesitated about how to help her walk.
Tang Ruxin stood up, returned the blanket to the security guard, turned around and extended her left hand towards Yu Lei.
"Hold me."
After these two words were spoken, the security room fell silent for a moment.
Yu Lei raised an eyebrow and looked at her, standing still. "Aren't you very brave? It's just a small injury. Anyone who helps you is looking down on you. Just jump on your own."
Song Mu happened to be standing on Tang Ruxin's right side. Seeing this, he quickly pulled up her right arm and said, "I'll carry you."
When he grabbed her arm, Tang Ruxin cried out in pain. Her right shoulder was bruised, her elbow was bruised, and her forearm had been scraped against the ground twice. The pain was so severe that she wanted to chop it off.
"You! Guess why I, a right-handed person, extended my left hand instead of my right?" Tang Ruxin stamped her feet in agony and yelled at Song Mu, "I can't even lift my right hand! Do you want someone to carry me when I can? Do I have no shame?!"
Song Mu quickly let go of her hand, took two steps back and apologized repeatedly.
Tang Ruxin turned around and yelled at Yu Lei, "Come here!"
"Here I come." He who knows the times is a hero.
Yu Lei hadn't really intended to let her hop out on one foot; he was simply irritated by her recklessness and wanted to manipulate her for a more effective conversation. However, Song Mu scratched Tang Ruxin's fur with his claws, leaving him unable to continue.
On the way from the security office to the car, Yu Lei kept asking her why she didn't let Song Mu carry her. Tang Ruxin ignored him with a cold face. She had thought she was worried that Song Mu couldn't carry her, but now it seemed that she had also seen through Song Mu's thoughts.
Yu Lei glanced sideways at Song Mu who was walking behind him, and saw that he had his head slightly lowered, his expression unable to hide his loneliness.
"You are committing such a sin..." Yu Lei said in a low voice.
