Chapter 59 Extra Volume
The remaining matters were too targeted, and Tang Ruxin didn't want Song Mu to get involved again. He had already been in danger once.
She accessed the company's human resources system and retrieved the information of employees who had joined Donghe Refining in the same year as her. She compared it with the hidden danger investigation statistics sent by Song Mu. She singled out the devices with the highest concentration of man-made hidden dangers and searched the departments where the people who had joined the company in the same year as her worked. Tang Ruxin narrowed down three names: Tong Jiayu, Han Yixiao, and Liu Wei.
——The devices to which these three belonged had the largest number of man-made hidden dangers detected.
Tang Ruxin sent Liu Wei's employee information to Yu Lei, leaving a message asking him to help check his family background and recent contacts. Yu Lei didn't reply, probably still asleep.
Tang Ruxin then called Chen Jingzhou to inquire about Han Yixiao's situation. Chen Jingzhou explained that Han Yixiao had been released the previous day, having secured Song Mu's forgiveness. In the absence of substantial damage, the case was not within the scope of public prosecution; they had simply been trying to scare him.
Tang Ruxin sat at her computer, looking at the profiles of Han Yixiao, Liu Wei, and Tong Jiayu. She noticed something in common: their parents' names were all left blank. While the company's statistical information was filled out by employees themselves, the parent name field wasn't mandatory. But it seemed a bit of a coincidence that all three of them had left it blank.
Han Yixiao and Liu Wei both had collective household registrations, settled in the Donghe Refining and Chemical employee dormitory. This meant they had previously held temporary household registrations, just like Tong Jiayu. The three of them likely knew each other for a long time, even longer than she and Tong Jiayu.
Could these two people be from the same place as Tong Jiayu? Tang Ruxin picked up her phone, then remembered that Yu Lei was still asleep, and put it down again. She was powerless to find information and could only rely on the police, but she might try other things.
Tang Ruxin tied her long hair close to her scalp and donned a chestnut-colored wig that barely reached her earlobes. She chose a long-brimmed baseball cap, changed into a sharp black tracksuit, and finally put on a down vest before heading out.
She arrived at the company's dormitories, located very close to the Donghe Refining and Chemical Plant, a fifteen-minute walk away. Unmarried, non-local employees often choose to live here. Although the rooms are single, the accommodation is much cheaper than renting in the city, and utilities are included. However, once married, the company requires employees to voluntarily move out. For those who refuse to do so, the accommodation fee will be slightly higher than for single employees.
Tang Ruxin remembered that Tong Jiayu also had a room here. Sometimes, when she was too tired after the night shift, she would sleep in the dormitory before going home.
There were six buildings in total, the first three for boys and the last three for girls. Liu Wei and Han Yixiao both lived in the first building, on the fourth and fifth floors, respectively. This building was closest to the road, and from the tea restaurant across the road, one could clearly see the windows of their rooms.
Tang Ruxin was wearing a baseball cap, black-framed glasses, and the collar of her down vest was turned up to cover her chin and mouth. At first glance, it was difficult to recognize her with her short hair.
She sat in the tea restaurant until dark, spent more than two hundred yuan, and went to the bathroom three times. Finally, the light in Liu Wei's room in the building opposite came on.
The curtains were open, and Tang Ruxin pushed down her prescription glasses on her nose as she couldn't see clearly through the glass.
Liu Wei was slightly overweight and short. His profile photo didn't look impressive, and he couldn't compare to Han Yixiao's looks. He was an ordinary person who would be hard to recognize in a crowd. At this distance, Tang Ruxin couldn't see his face clearly. She only saw that he was constantly on a video call.
However, there was no light on in Han Yixiao's window downstairs.
Tang Ruxin sat there until the restaurant closed. It was already nine o'clock in the evening, and it was already dark. She turned up the collar of her clothes to cover her face, pulled her hat down, and walked towards the dormitory area across the street.
Adult dormitories didn't restrict access by gender; outsiders simply registered. However, the dorm supervisors worked regular hours, so Tang Ruxin didn't even bother registering. The only problem was that, while women weren't restricted from entering the building, a woman suddenly appearing at night would still be noticeable.
Tang Ruxin was lucky; she didn't run into anyone until she reached the fourth floor. The dormitory had wooden doors, so the soundproofing wasn't great. She stood in front of Liu Wei's door, listening against the panel for a moment, and discovered that his video call was still going on.
Liu Wei seemed to be losing his temper, his voice sometimes high and sometimes low.
"I told you not to go... You deserve it! Now that it's a big deal, you know... Stop talking nonsense, it has nothing to do with me. I didn't do anything! Get lost... Even if you make trouble for Sister Tong, I'll still say the same thing... Threaten me? You have the guts... Fine, if you have the guts, go ahead..."
Tang Ruxin didn't hear everything through the door, but she heard the two words "Sister Tong" clearly.
She lowered her eyes and smiled bitterly. People can indeed improve. With enough training, even sadness can be worn into a callus, becoming dull and hard.
"Do you think those people in the company are stupid?! Suddenly identifying so many man-made hidden dangers... That's right! They can't just eliminate them and call it a day. They must strengthen the scene... Are you crazy? Do they need manpower? They need cameras! Shut up, idiot... I'll tell you when you come back. Hang up, I have a call."
"Hey, Sister Tong... I know, I'm trying to persuade him... It's okay, I'm holding him down, the little guy doesn't dare to do anything rash... Yes, most of the mines he planted have been cleared by the company... There's nothing we can do, I don't know who suddenly had a brain and accurately cleared the mines we planted... Okay, okay, I get it."
The room became quiet. Liu Wei seemed to light a cigarette. There was the clicking sound of a lighter, followed by the sound of starting up a computer.
Tang Ruxin slowly stood up and was about to leave when she heard someone say behind her:
"Who are you looking for?"
She was startled and froze in place, listening so intently that she didn't notice someone coming up behind her.
"What are you doing? Why are you lying on someone else's door?" the man asked loudly.
Tang Ruxin immediately turned and walked quickly towards the stairs. The man tried to stop her, but she pushed him away. Before she could take a few steps, Liu Wei opened the door and came out, chasing after her without saying a word. Tang Ruxin jumped down the stairs in two steps and rushed downstairs.
The footsteps behind her continued, but they showed no sign of getting closer. Liu Wei was fat and not as agile as she was, so he couldn't catch up to her for a while. Then Tang Ruxin heard Liu Wei yelling "Catch the thief" behind her, and she was so angry that she almost went back to fight him.
It was a good move for the villain to complain first, and this trick really worked. Not many people were walking outside on the first night of the Lunar New Year, but after he shouted like that, the few passers-by looked over here.
Taking advantage of the darkness, Tang Ruxin turned out of the dormitory area and headed for the green belt beside the road. As she did so, she threw away her glasses and took off her hat, ducking down and hiding behind a few trees.
"Where did the thief go? Did anyone see him?"
Liu Weigang ran out of the dormitory gate, put her hands on her hips and asked the passers-by who came over breathlessly. Some pointed in her direction, and some pointed to the other side.
Taking advantage of the hesitation, Tang Ruxin took off her wig and let her long hair fall down over her shoulders. Her down vest was reversible, so she turned it over and wore the gray side outside.
Tang Ruxin stood up, put her hands in her pockets, and walked across the street as if nothing had happened. Her car was parked over there, and as long as she got in, she would be completely safe.
When she got to the car, she unlocked the door and was about to get in when a hand suddenly reached out from the darkness beside her and slammed her door shut.
Tang Ruxin's breath caught, and she slowly turned her head to see Han Yixiao smiling at her with his eyes narrowed.
"Director Tang, long time no see."
