After walking around the courtyard, Conan and his three friends had already become familiar with the terrain. The house where the Ogawa family lived was surrounded by green plants in a circle. If you look down from the sky, it looks like a small town nestled in the mountains.
Buildings that are too densely packed will result in poor lighting, so this house was designed in the shape of a U when it was first built, with a courtyard outside and another courtyard in the middle of the mouth.
After surveying the terrain, Conan and his three companions completed the task assigned by Sakaki Makoto, but they did not return immediately. Instead, they planned to take the opportunity to go to the kitchen and collect more clues.
Following the aroma lingering in the air, Conan and the other three came to the kitchen door and were shocked by the scene before them.
The kitchen was bustling with activity. Three chefs, two tall and one short, who were almost as fat as balls, were busy working. Pots and pans were clanging. Large pieces of salmon were being fried in an orange-yellow oil pan. There were more than a dozen casseroles on the stove nearby. The off-white thick soup was boiling, which complemented the old tofu perfectly. The noise from the range hood was deafening, and the three chefs had to shout to communicate.
"Ryuji! Where are the shrimps I asked you to prepare?! Hurry and bring them here! The soup will be ready soon!"
A tall chef with a round jaw stood in front of the casserole and shouted without turning his head.
"Right behind you! I peeled it ten minutes ago!"
The tall, round-faced chef, who was squatting in front of the chopping board and cutting kohlrabi, sweating profusely, raised his head and shouted.
"Miso soup! Ryuzo! Is the miso soup ready?!"
Standing next to the oil pan, the short, dark-faced chef who looked like a fat monk glanced at the menu on the wall and asked the chef in charge of cooking the soup:
"Mr. Yoshio has to have miso soup with every meal. It's a must!"
"Damn! I forgot!"
Putting the spoon heavily on the table, the tall fat chef named Long San who was guarding the casserole cursed inwardly, bent down and took out a cylindrical stainless steel pot specially used for cooking soup from under the iron table, put it in the pool to collect water, while not forgetting to take care of the casserole.
There were obviously only three of them, but they managed to create a feast like a full Han banquet.
If you think about it carefully, this is actually normal. After all, the Ogawa family is large, and three people have to prepare three meals a day for more than a dozen people. The key is that they cannot cope with it. The food must be exquisite and fresh. The Japanese have seven or eight kinds of side dishes for a meal, and the preparation is extremely cumbersome.
Under tremendous pressure, the three chefs gradually became a team. Of course, this was probably related to their "tasting".
As a chef, you have to taste the food before serving it!
Just like the basic ethics of a detective...
"Should we go in?"
Seeing the scene in the kitchen, Kidd said awkwardly:
"I feel like now is not the time to disturb them... Damn, that short, dark-faced chef is reaching into the frying pan!"
"Compared to other fish, salmon meat is too soft and tender. If you want to maintain the taste, you must not fry it for too long. Put it in hot oil to set it, and then fry it in the pan. This will lock in the freshness."
Hattori Heiji said calmly:
"Some chefs know how long to fry based on their experience, but real chefs want to ensure the quality of their dishes, so when frying, they will pinch the skin of the salmon and take it out when it is slightly hard. However, the fish cannot be taken out of the pan during this process, otherwise the food will cool down and the taste will be ruined."
Conan, Kidd, and Sera Masumi all turned their heads and looked at him in surprise:
"Do you know so much about cooking?"
"...My mother taught me. She said cooking is something everyone should learn, regardless of gender, so she often taught me how to cook when I was a kid."
"Then why haven't I seen you do it?"
Conan looked doubtful. He couldn't cook. It was hard for him to even cook noodles. He relied on Xiaolan to take care of his daily life. When he heard that his good friend could cook, he felt a sense of being abandoned by the revolutionary team....
Resentful.
"Of course you haven't seen it. My mom said that boys who can cook are the most handsome, so I have to hide it and show it off after I get married to amaze everyone."
“.......”
Conan was stunned for a moment:
"Are you sure your aunt isn't afraid that you'll be too popular and be kidnapped by someone, so she's asking you to keep it hidden?"
"Impossible. My dad and He Ye's dad were both there at the time. They agreed with what my mom said."
"Hey, hey, hey, it's obvious that they are in cahoots and have secretly planned to trick you!!!"
"Is there?"
Hattori Heiji was stunned, but after thinking about it, he found that he was not so resistant in his heart, so he said:
"It doesn't matter. Just cheat. It's not certain who will cheat whom."
What is enlightenment?
This is called enlightenment!
What's wrong with being cheated by your future father-in-law?
Have questions?
"What do you think? If I sneak in now, can I eat the delicious food before the criminal poisons me?"
Looking at the golden salmon just out of the pan on the plate, Kidd looked interested:
"No matter how strong the poison is, it will be destroyed by high temperatures. Now those fish pieces must be non-toxic..."
"Who are you?"
When the chef in charge of cutting kohlrabi in the kitchen put the shredded vegetables on the plate, he saw Conan and his friends peeping from behind the door. He looked at them for a while, then suddenly slapped his head and realized something:
"Oh! You must be Mr. Yoshio's guests! Are you hungry? Don't worry, the meal will be served in ten minutes."
Because Yoshio Ogawa decided to go home at the last minute, the three chefs didn't have time to prepare anything at first. They hastily listed a menu and then started working in a hurry.
