7:55 PM, Yokosuka Expressway.
Heavy rain fell from the sky, hitting the top of the armored vehicle. Through the window, Sakaki Makoto saw the private cars driven aside. Except for them, no one could pass through the highway intersection.
Kota Komura did what he said and blocked the road in the name of an exercise. The highway will remain closed for the next hour.
The private car owners were dissatisfied, but they did not dare to vent it. After all, the soldiers in front of them with live ammunition were not joking, and they really dared to shoot.
The helicopter squadron provided high-altitude escort and advanced together with the team led by Yasuki Domon, successfully passing the checkpoint and entering Yokosuka. The several armored vehicles that Makoto Sakaki was riding in followed for a distance and then turned into a mountain road on the side, avoiding the main traffic route with many people and eyes.
Everything is going on in an orderly manner and no accidents have occurred so far.
Ten minutes later, the armored vehicle stopped halfway up the mountain. There were forests on all sides and no houses were living there. Only the city at the foot of the mountain was still bright.
"Mr. Sakaki, the armored vehicle is too big a target. We can't continue riding it."
After getting off the car, a special forces soldier stepped forward in the rain and turned on the positioning device on his wrist. The screen was full of dark green lines, with numbers engraved on both sides and a red dot flashing in the center. If you are not a professional, you can't understand it at all.
"According to the location you provided, we are only 1 kilometer away from the valley..."
The special forces soldier pointed to the red dot in the center and said:
"We will then hike through the forest below, bypass the US military base, and head to the rear of the Maritime Self-Defense Force base. If everything goes well, we will be able to reach our target location before 8:15."
Sakaki stared at the map, observed the actual terrain for a while, and suddenly said:
"There's nothing wrong with the idea, but the route is a bit risky. I came to Yokosuka for a survey before and found that there are many minefields around the US military base. If we walk through the forest and want to bypass the US military base, we must cross at least one minefield. If we accidentally detonate a mine, the US military will receive the news immediately... and our actions will be exposed."
"We carry mine survey tools."
The soldier asked someone to bring some detectors:
"This is the best route planned by the headquarters. After all, Yokosuka has two military bases. The defense is flawless and not easy to break through. If you don't take the risk of passing through the minefield, you won't be able to reach the valley at all."
"Um...."
After thinking for a while with a frown on his face, Sakaki made a phone call and contacted Hiroki:
"Hiroki, can you find a more perfect route?"
"At 38.5° northwest of you, there is a road built 45 years ago. It was originally intended to be a channel for the US military to transport supplies. However, because it is located in an area prone to flash floods, the road was only built one-third of the way and then stopped. It has been abandoned ever since. Fortunately, the design drawings at that time were not discarded. The US military even entered them into the database. I will send the design drawings to your mobile phone..."
Hiroki's voice came from the microphone:
"It is not possible to set up minefields in areas prone to flash floods. You can pass through there, but please note that the US military has set up a sentry post at the end of the road. That is one of their key defense areas."
"What's the use of that?"
The special forces soldier asked in confusion:
"Since it is an abandoned road and there is a US military outpost at the end, they must have installed defensive facilities. The US military cannot ignore such loopholes. If we choose to pass through the road, won't the risk be greater?"
"You are right, but..."
Hiroki chuckled:
"If I told you that the US military sentry post at the end of the road was connected to the civilian power grid, would the result be different?"
"Civilian power grid?!"
The special forces soldier was shocked:
"Didn't they use their own generators?!"
"When the highway was built, a village was planned to be demolished. Originally, the ruins of the village were to be covered by the highway, but after the highway construction was stopped, the ruins were not dealt with any more. To save trouble, the US military placed a sentry post in the village. The circuits they used were all the official power grid of Yokosuka. As for the generator, they did have one, but it was just an old-fashioned small generator, which was not enough to support all the electricity used by the sentry post..."
Hiroki said while holding a lollipop:
"If it were any other weather, the generator might still work, but it's raining heavily today, and the weather is cold and damp. Apart from the soldiers on duty, most people will probably stay indoors to keep warm. The village ruins are mostly wooden buildings, and there's a forest here. To prevent wildfires, the heating facilities at the US military outposts must be electric. As long as I cut off their main circuit, the large amount of electricity consumed in a short period of time cannot be supported by small generators, and they will definitely trip!"
"Without electricity, the American army is no different from a blind man. By the time they put on their night vision equipment and go out on patrol to repair the circuit, you will have already bypassed the sentry post!"
This is much more reliable than crossing a minefield.
"No wonder the US military listed the design drawings of this highway as important information..."
The special forces soldiers looked delighted. If they could really pass through the highway, they could save further time!
This is one of the few flaws of the US military!
"The map has been sent. I will cut off the power supply when you reach the outpost."
After packing up their equipment, Makoto Sakaki and the soldiers picked up their M4 carbines, turned on their night vision goggles, and followed Hiroki's instructions. Sure enough, they found an abandoned road in the northwest. As no one had used it for many years, the road was in ruins and surrounded by weeds, making it the perfect place to infiltrate.
Braving the heavy rain and walking on the muddy ground, Makoto Sakaki and 50 special forces soldiers advanced quickly. In just 5 minutes, they saw the abandoned village that Hiroki mentioned.
Although it is called a ruin, the US military actually made some minor repairs to it after they stationed there. The village built on a high place is brightly lit, with tall strong lights sweeping back and forth, and US soldiers can be vaguely seen patrolling around the camp.
After dismantling the infrared detector outside the camp, Makoto Sakaki hid behind a tree and sent a signal to Hiroki to take action.
Hiroki is also a tough guy. He knows that it is difficult to hack into power grid facilities through ordinary means, and the really important equipment needs to be turned on and off manually. So he did the opposite and let Noah's Ark hack into all smart devices in Yokosuka that can receive signals and turned on all controllable electrical appliances.
After a short delay, the entire Yokosuka suddenly lit up on the map. Televisions, air conditioners, electric lights, factory machines... almost all equipment began to operate at full capacity at the same time. The entire city revived in the darkness, like the heartbeat of a giant dragon. An immeasurable voltage instantly flowed along the circuit into the city's central power grid. The overloaded motors hummed and sparks flew, and then... with a snap, the fuse blew.
The dragon fell silent again and closed its eyes. Yokosuka... suddenly dimmed on the map.
