Chapter 5: The Unexpected Visitor

4:37 pm.

Ichiro Shibasaki had been standing on the rooftop for two hours. The crowd watching below had blocked the road. Cars could not pass through the intersection and had to stop and honk their horns. The police officers led by Inspector Megure were busy maintaining order, as busy as industrious little bees.

Even so, more and more people gathered to watch.

It seems that joining in the fun is not a tradition in China. Every country has the same attitude towards gossip.

Somehow the news that Ichiro Shibasaki was going to commit suicide got out, and reporters swarmed in with cameras, flashing non-stop. Some even crossed the cordon and wanted to go upstairs for an interview, but fortunately they were stopped by Inspector Megure.

As you can imagine, the headline of tomorrow's morning news will be: Shocking! Shibasaki Ichiro, the president of Shibasaki Trading, committed suicide by jumping off a building yesterday afternoon!

Look! Japanese industrialist representative Shibasaki Ichiro lost hope in life. Is it a loss of humanity or a loss of morality? We asked experts to answer for us...

And so on.

Those who came to watch the fun were not afraid of making trouble. Some of them became impatient of waiting or tired of looking up, and started shouting at Shibasaki Ichiro to jump faster.

Ichiro Shibasaki's face became even paler. Seeing that the situation was not good, Makoto Sakaki knew that there was no time to continue searching for the criminal slowly.

"Inspector Megure, please evacuate the crowd immediately and let irrelevant people leave!"

"I think the police can still do this."

Facing the questioning voice in the headset, Megure Jusan blushed and said, "Mr. Sakaki Makoto, are you doubting the police's ability to handle the case?"

".....Yes, that's what I mean."

Sakaki Makoto said bluntly.

"The criminal is hiding in the crowd. It's impossible to check them one by one. If we want to find the murderer, we have to narrow the scope."

"Evacuating unnecessary people is the best solution!"

Megure Jusan's eyes lit up and he suddenly understood.

"I understand!"

"After the crowd is evacuated, there must be a criminal among those left behind!"

"Although I don't know why the criminal caused such a big fuss, but since he hasn't called me yet, it means he is still waiting and watching!"

"Since he has a purpose, there is no way he will leave!"

Sakaki Makoto on the rooftop immediately covered his face. Megure Jusan's slowness made him not know what to say.

Is this how all Japanese police handle cases?

With a police officer like this, the prisoners would wake up laughing in their dreams!

Unless this is all police tactics.

As long as the criminal is laughed to death, the police can justifiably close the case without having to provide for the criminal's retirement. It's really killing two birds with one stone.

After all, in Japan, prisoners' lives in prison are more comfortable than those outside.

The prisons in Japan are different from those in China and some eagle countries. The treatment is very different.

An ordinary prison: a bed, a toilet, a cramped space...the better ones even have a table.

Japanese prison: tatami, washbasin, windows with good lighting, towels, LCD TV...all daily necessities are available.

If it is a room for multiple people, it will be even more luxurious, with an independent bathroom, a tiled sink, faucets, tatami mats, hangers and other daily necessities installed according to the number of people.

In addition, there are balanced meals. During major festivals, the three meals will be luxuriously upgraded. You can even eat omelette rice, pizza and fried food...

The Japanese believe that there is no freedom in prison and life is boring. The greatest pleasure for prisoners is eating. If the food is not good, they are worried that the prisoners will become irritable and unstable.

Absolutely humanized and integrated.

Library, gymnasium, bathing area (hot springs), complete medical services...

Best of all, it's all free.

But the prison won’t give you such good treatment for free, you have to work.

What’s even more frustrating is that in prison, the working hours are strictly eight hours a day, with no overtime.

Get up at 7:50 in the morning to go to get off work, get off work at 4:30 in the afternoon, and have a 15-minute break in the morning and afternoon. There is no pressure, no need to worry about mortgage and car loans, no need to get drunk with clients, and someone will prepare three meals for you every day. After dinner, you can watch TV, read... As long as you don't break the rules, you can do whatever you want.

There will also be holidays on weekends.

Is this a prison?

It's simply heaven!

As to why the prisoners are treated so well, the Japanese authorities have also made an official statement: We want the prisoners to forgive themselves for their mistakes and they must serve their full sentences.

Even if he is sick, he must be cured and then continue to stay in prison.

Well, the prison has been turned into a nursing home.

Japanese prisons are also known as the happiest prisons in the world.

Some elderly people who have no one to rely on will find ways to go to jail.

In an interview with NHK TV, an 83-year-old inmate in Japan's Aomori Prison said that because he was too old to find a job and had no fixed residence, he did not meet Japan's minimum living security requirements, so he went to a temple and stole 140 yen in incense money and successfully moved into a "nursing home."

Ps: Life in prison is destined to be boring, and bullying happens from time to time. It is better outside. Please don’t commit crimes.

At Megure Juzo's order, the police began to evacuate the crowd.

Many onlookers were driven away, but some who were reluctant to leave stayed.

Several idle elderly people, leaning on crutches, stood outside the cordon, looking at Ichiro Shibasaki with concern. There were also several office workers who were planning to go home after work, housewives who had just bought discounted toilet paper from the supermarket, two female high school students wearing Teitan High School uniforms, and several men standing on the roadside smoking.
