"That's really a pity..."
Holmes took a sip of his pipe, without a trace of regret on his face:
"I know a friend who has a ship that is docked at Teddington Pier on the lower Thames. It will depart at noon tomorrow and its destination is the United States. If you need anything, I can help you say hello."
"Thank you, but no thanks."
Sakaki Makoto carried Xiao Ai onto the carriage, placed the silver snake cane on his legs, and said:
"I am going back to Lord Baskerville's estate now. Do you want to go?"
"Later, I have something else to do now."
' said Holmes, smiling.
When Sakaki Makoto saw the white chrysanthemum on his chest, he didn't say much. He grabbed the reins, drove the carriage out of the town, and returned to the manor along the same route.
After watching the carriage go away, Holmes stood there for a while and then walked into the tavern hall.
He took off the white chrysanthemum from his chest and placed it on the table in front of Professor Moriarty. He then picked up the cup of ale and started drinking it.
Ten minutes later, the wine was finished, Holmes stood up, threw down a penny and left the pub.
From beginning to end...
He didn't say a word, as if he was an old friend coming to pay tribute to a grave, or as if he was reminiscing about his college days.
"Who is this young man?"
"I am Sherlock Holmes, dear professor, Sherlock Holmes."
"Do you want to learn mathematics? It's a very deep subject."
"Of course, Professor."
"Then come with me. From today on, you are my student. My name is James Moriarty."
"Thank you, Professor Moriarty."
Standing at the door of the tavern, Holmes looked at the rising sun in the sky, lost in thought, and muttered:
"Another beautiful day has begun."
