The city's peace didn't last long. Before Conan and his friends could even properly rest, a mysterious invitation was delivered to them.
The invitation envelope was black with a gold question mark printed on it, but there was no sender's name or address. Conan opened the invitation and found a gold-embossed card inside that read: "Dear detectives, I have prepared an unprecedented challenge for you. If you have the courage, come to the abandoned clock tower tomorrow night at eight o'clock."
"Who could this be?" Ran Mouri looked at the invitation, filled with doubt.
Lin Yu frowned: "It feels like a trap."
Nightshade said, "But if we don't go, we might miss an important clue."
Ai Haibara calmly analyzed, "No matter what, we must be fully prepared."
After a moment of contemplation, Conan said, "Everyone, get your weapons and equipment ready. We'll be there on time tomorrow."
The following evening, Conan and his friends arrived at the abandoned clock tower on time. The area around the clock tower was completely silent, with only the faint moonlight illuminating their figures.
"Why is there no one here?" Ran Mouri looked around warily.
Just then, the clock tower's bell suddenly rang, its sound particularly jarring in the quiet night.
"Watch out!" Conan shouted.
A group of men in black rushed out from all directions and surrounded them.
"You've finally arrived." A deep voice came from behind the man in black.
A tall man stepped out, his face obscured by a silver mask.
"Who are you? Why did you invite us here?" Conan asked.
The man sneered: "Who I am is not important; what matters is the challenge you are about to face."
After saying that, the man waved his hand, and the men in black launched an attack on Conan and the others.
Conan and the others quickly launched a counterattack, engaging in a fierce battle with the men in black. Ran Mouri's karate was still sharp, each move full of power; Lin Yu's high-tech equipment played a huge role, with electric currents keeping the men in black from getting close; Nightshade was agile, moving freely among the men in black; and Ai Haibara provided support from the rear.
While fighting, Conan observed the masked man's actions. He noticed that the masked man had been watching their battle closely, seemingly waiting for something.
"Everyone be careful, he's up to no good!" Conan shouted.
Just then, the masked man suddenly pressed a button in his hand, and the ground began to shake violently, revealing a huge trap beneath their feet.
"Oh no!" Lin Yu exclaimed.
Conan and the others fell into the trap. The trap was filled with a pungent smell, and it was pitch black all around.
"Is everyone alright?" Conan asked.
"I'm fine," came Ran Mouri's voice.
"I'm fine too," Lin Yu, Ye Ying, and Haibara Ai all replied.
Conan took a flashlight out of his pocket and illuminated the surroundings. They discovered that the trap was filled with various mechanisms and traps.
“We must carefully find the exit,” Conan said.
They carefully navigated the traps, avoiding one obstacle after another.
Suddenly, a stone gate appeared in front of them.
“This could be the exit,” Nightshade said.
Conan stepped forward and carefully examined the stone gate, discovering some strange symbols carved on it.
“This might be the password to open the stone door,” Ai Haibara said.
Conan began to ponder the meaning of these symbols, and after some effort, he finally discovered the pattern in the code and opened the stone door.
Behind the stone gate was a long passage, at the end of which there seemed to be a glimmer of light.
"Let's go quickly," Conan said.
They moved quickly along the passage and finally escaped the trap.
However, when they escaped the trap, they found themselves in an unfamiliar place. It was a huge laboratory, filled with all sorts of advanced instruments and equipment.
"Where is this place?" Ran Mouri asked.
Just then, the masked man reappeared.
"Welcome to my laboratory. This is where I conduct my research," the masked man said.
"What exactly are you researching?" Conan asked.
The masked man smiled: "I'm researching a power that can change the world."
Conan and the others exchanged glances, their hearts filled with vigilance.
The masked man continued, "And you will become my experimental subjects."
After saying that, the masked man pressed a button, and the instruments in the laboratory started to operate, beams of light shining towards Conan and the others.
"Everyone be careful!" Conan shouted.
They dodged the attacks of the light while searching for an opportunity to retaliate.
Ran Mouri spotted a control panel for the instruments and rushed over to try and shut them down.
The masked man noticed Ran Mouri's actions and rushed towards her, trying to stop her.
Upon seeing this, Conan, Nightshade, and Lin Yu rushed towards the masked man and engaged in a fierce battle with him.
Ai Haibara assists Ran Mouri in trying to crack the console's password.
After a fierce battle, Conan and his friends finally defeated the masked man and shut down the device.
"It's finally over," Lin Yu said, panting heavily.
Just when they thought it was all over, an alarm suddenly went off in the laboratory.
"Oh no, this place is going to explode!" Nightshade shouted.
Conan and the others quickly escaped the laboratory.
As they ran out of the lab, a huge explosion came from behind them.
"That was close," Ran Mouri said.
Conan looked at the ruins in the distance and said, "Although this crisis has been resolved, I feel that things are not over yet."
Sure enough, not long after, they received a new challenge...
