Chapter 96 Cave Exploration

Conan and the others entered the cave, and a faint light shone from the flashlights in their hands, illuminating the eerie stone walls around them.

The cave was filled with a damp atmosphere, the ground was uneven, and water droplets dripped from the cave ceiling from time to time.

"Watch your step, everyone," Conan warned.

They walked slowly forward, and strange sounds came from the depths of the cave, as if something was watching them from the shadows.

Ran Mouri unconsciously moved closer to Conan, her voice trembling slightly: "Conan, I feel like something's off here."

Lin Yu shone his flashlight around and said, "Don't scare yourself. Maybe it's just the wind."

Ai Haibara calmly observed the surroundings and said, "Everyone, stay alert. There might be danger here."

Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew by, extinguishing the flashlights in their hands, and the cave instantly became even darker.

"Oh no!" Conan shouted.

Just then, a rapid crawling sound came from the darkness, getting closer and closer.

"What is that?" Ran Mouri exclaimed.

Lin Yu turned on the spare high-powered flashlight and saw a swarm of huge bats rushing towards them.

"Quickly, squat down!" Conan shouted.

The group quickly crouched down, shielding their heads with their arms. The bat circled above them for a moment before flying away.

"That was a close call." Lin Yu breathed a sigh of relief.

They continued onward, but the cave passage became increasingly narrow, with some sections requiring them to pass sideways.

As they walked, they came to a fork in the road.

"Which way to go?" Ran Mouri asked.

Conan observed the two passages and said, "There seems to be airflow in the passage on the left, which may lead to the exit or a wider space."

So they chose the left-hand passage.

The passageway is filled with stalactites and stalagmites; you could easily bump your head if you're not careful.

"Ouch!" Ran Mouri accidentally bumped into a protruding rock.

"Ran-neechan, are you alright?" Conan asked with concern.

"It's nothing, just a minor scrape," Ran Mouri said.

After walking for a while, they found a deep ravine blocking their way.

"What should we do?" Lin Yu said.

Conan looked around and noticed some thick vines hanging down from the cave ceiling.

“We can use these vines to swing across,” Conan said.

Lin Yu was the first to try. He grabbed the vine, swung hard, and successfully reached the other side.

Then, the others swung across in turn.

Finally, they emerged from the narrow passage and arrived at a huge cave hall.

In the center of the hall was a huge stone platform, on which something appeared to be placed.

They slowly approached the mysterious object, their hearts pounding involuntarily. When they were close enough, they could finally see clearly that it was an ancient treasure chest! It lay there quietly, as if it had been waiting for a long time.

"Could this be the treasure we've been searching for all this time?" Ran Mouri exclaimed, her eyes wide with surprise. Her voice held an undisguised excitement and anticipation.

Conan, however, was exceptionally cautious. He carefully reached out and gently touched the surface of the treasure chest. Feeling its cool, rough texture, he took a deep breath and slowly lifted the lid. Just then, a dazzling light suddenly shot out from inside the chest, instantly illuminating the entire space. The light was as bright as lightning, almost blinding.
