Chapter 25

Chapter 25

The abandoned port was surrounded by dark green seaweed, and the sea breeze carried the smells of decay and blood, which were unpleasant to the ears and nose.

Rina stood outside the police line, glanced at the location where the body was found, and then went to the warehouse next door.

This place has been abandoned for many years; the wooden planks are rotten, and they creak and groan when you step on them.

The surroundings were dark, and various discarded items were scattered on the ground, making the warehouse seem particularly eerie.

A musty, cold aura rushed towards her. Rina accidentally stepped into a puddle, and the icy seawater pierced through her canvas shoes with a hiss. A chill ran up her feet in waves.

She turned on her phone's flashlight and shone it around to observe her surroundings.

Suddenly, a giant blue-white lightning bolt appeared in the sky outside the warehouse gate with a loud boom.

Rina's eyelids twitched ominously twice. She turned around to look behind her and found that no one was there.

As you continue walking, the old water pipes rustle and grind again, and a blurry figure flashes across the wall.

Rina held her breath, leaning against the other side of the wall, hesitating whether to go forward and check.

Suddenly, a hand landed on her shoulder, startling her.

"elder sister?"

Rina's lips were slightly pale as she walked to the corner, where she saw two rats dart past.

She gave a faint "hmm".

Perhaps due to lack of rest, her eyes were misty and red, making her appear somewhat emotionally out of control.

Kurosawa Shiran lowered her eyes and their gazes suddenly met in mid-air. She paused for a moment, then subconsciously lowered her voice, "What are you looking for, sister? I've called you several times but you haven't responded."

Rina coughed a few times, covering her lips with one hand, and then glanced at the footprints in the corner of the wall and said, "It's nothing, let's go."

A shadow fell over Kurosawa Shiran's eyes instantly. He walked past her and glanced at the dead end around the corner.

Even with an extremely calm expression and no movement, the killing intent surrounding him could not be ignored.

The oppressive terror emanating from wild beasts is no different.

But besides the garbage everywhere, there were also several rotting dead cats and a pool of foul-smelling blood.

What is my sister afraid of?

"What's wrong?" He held Rina's hand and gently wiped away the cold sweat from her palm. "Your hands are so cold, are you sick?"

In that instant, it felt as if I was being swallowed up by something, and strange fragments of memory surfaced.

Rina felt a moment of dizziness, her upper body stiffened, and she said, "Let's go out first."

Upon hearing this, Kurosawa Shiran gripped her hand even tighter. After leaving the warehouse, she quietly bent down and deliberately moved closer to her. "Sister, should we go to the hospital?"

Rina shook her head, withdrew her hand, took a few steps back to create distance between herself and him, and closed her eyes to try to piece together the fragments of memory that flashed through her mind.

"We made a promise... that my sister would come find me when she grows up..."

A little child wearing a faded, old-fashioned hospital gown had eyes full of sincerity and determination, his long eyelashes fluttering with each blink.

She had long hair, was very pretty, and seemed to be a girl.

She hooked her little finger around her finger.

...in the hook.

Rina's head was throbbing with pain. Before she could even see the other person's face clearly, she suddenly felt a tightness in her chest. Before she was completely plunged into endless darkness, a blinding halo pierced her eyes.

After a moment of dizziness, when he opened his eyes again, Kurosawa Shiran leaned over him, cupping his pale face in his hands, his slender fingers slowly sliding down his chin to his neck.

But the instant their eyes met, Kurosawa Shiran stopped moving. The madness and ruthlessness in his eyes, the murderous look, vanished abruptly.

A very intimate distance, close enough that a slight turn of the head could lead to a kiss.

A slight smile played on his lips as he asked shyly, "Sister, may I kiss you?"

Rina: "......"

Does she really think she didn't see that look in her eyes that looked like she could eat her alive?

When she came to her senses, she realized that her shirt was completely soaked.

Those fragmented images that surfaced in her mind were completely foreign to her.

Is she experiencing memory problems?

Kurosawa Shiran reluctantly nuzzled her chin before withdrawing her hand.

Rina glanced at him expressionlessly, took out her phone and called Sato, telling him to come over immediately.

Kurosawa Shiran lowered his eyes and stared at the top of her dark hair, patiently waiting for her to finish speaking.

After hanging up the phone, he asked, "Sister, shall we go back?"

Rina walked to the edge of the boardwalk, tugged at her shirt collar, and tried to calm herself down by letting the sea breeze blow on her: "You can go back by yourself first."

His expression remained as indifferent as ever.

Kurosawa Shiran didn't know what to say for a moment, her Adam's apple bobbing. "No, I want to stay with my sister."

As he spoke, he pressed it against the wall again.

When Rina saw him coming closer, she turned off her phone screen.

"elder sister--"

However, before she could even act cute, someone grabbed the hood of her sweatshirt.

"You bastard, do you even have a brain?" Sato said with a dark face, dragging the man aside and standing between the two of them. "What were you thinking, keeping someone like this around?"

Rina glanced down at her watch. "The place where the body was found is only a ten-minute walk from this warehouse. If the body is dumped here, there is a high chance it will be swept by the waves to the reef. There are people going out to sea every day, and the body will be found very quickly. This method of disposing of the body is obviously not very clever."

Sato didn't want to know how to dispose of the body properly. "You just said the first crime scene was in this abandoned warehouse?"

Rina slowly hummed in agreement, took off her gloves, and beckoned to him.

Sato immediately understood, pretended to put his hand in his pocket and feel around, then chuckled and took out a pink box and placed it in her palm.

Kurosawa Shiranui's face remained expressionless, but a strange feeling arose in her heart, and she stared intently at the two of them.

Lina curiously opened the box and saw that it was filled with colorful fruit candies, causing a buzzing sound in her ears.

"........"

"Didn't expect that, did you? I quit smoking!" Sato's prank succeeded, and he grinned mischievously as he poured her a cigarette from the box. "The pink one is peach flavored. How about I pour you another one? I remember you like grape flavored ones."

Rina looked away and put the food in her mouth to chew.

After a brief exchange of information, Sato went into the storage room and called the police inspector to have someone come and collect evidence.

For some reason, Rina suddenly stopped in her tracks and looked back without warning.

On the asphalt road along the distant coast, a familiar white sedan is parked.

The woman was wearing a white silk dress and black sunglasses. When she tossed her long hair, the diamond bracelet on her wrist sparkled.

She was looking at her too.

Rina's face immediately darkened. "It's really annoying to be provoked by someone like this."

"Sister?" Kurosawa Shiran blinked thoughtfully, following her gaze.

I saw someone get out of the white car.

It is Arisu and beauty.

Rina looked displeased, dialed a number, and then saw Arisu Kazumi say something to Yui, glance at her phone, and then hang up the phone.

Kurosawa Shiran's blue eyes involuntarily darkened slightly: "Sister, shall I go and call her back?"

"No need." Rina took a deep breath and grabbed his arm.

Arisu Kazumi has already boarded the car.

Yui even called her, "Rina, this little detective wants to stay with me for a few days, you don't mind, do you?"

Rina: "Okay, then I'll bother you for a few days."

After Yui hung up the phone, she nodded to her, and the white sedan quickly drove away.

A light rain began to fall.

The two returned to the car.

Rina leaned back in her seat for about fifteen minutes to recover, while her phone would vibrate every few minutes.

She sat up and said, "Let's go eat."

Kurosawa Shiran stared intently at the phone, her eyes unblinking, clearly filled with immense curiosity. "Sister, what do you want to eat?"

Rina: "It's up to you to decide whether I treat you to dinner."

Kurosawa Shiran: "Is your older sister rich?"

Rina hummed in response, glancing out the car window.

"I'll cook for you, sister. We can go to the supermarket together on the way back to buy some groceries." Having appeased her, Kurosawa Shiran decided to push her luck a little further and carefully took her phone out of her coat pocket.

Unexpectedly, as soon as the device was taken out, another ringtone sounded.

Rina narrowed her eyes slightly, met the gaze of the guilty little dog, and said, "Catch it."

Kurosawa Shiran stared intently at her, her wide eyes gleaming like amber. "Sister, the phone fell out by itself."

As he spoke, he pressed the answer button and turned on the speakerphone.

Damian: "Miss Natsume, which room would you like to stay in?"

Rina: "What, which room?"

"Didn't you ask me to come to Japan?" Damien paused. "Kazumi sent me a message asking me to move to Japan. I've already moved all my luggage to your doorstep, but isn't your house too small? I have so many figurines and nowhere to put them. If it really comes down to it, I'll have to rent a place nearby."

Rina: "What exactly are you guys doing?"

How could someone who hasn't left the house in years move just because of a few messages?

“Japan is paradise for us anime and manga fans. I’ve wanted to come here for ages,” Damian said. “Oh, right, I also brought your boyfriend. You should come back and see him. He seems to miss you. He’s been sniffing your clothes for ages.”

Rina: "Can you keep an eye on it?"

Damian: "Remember to bring it a gift; I think it misses you so much it's almost crying."

Kurosawa Shiran hung up the phone immediately, staring at her pitifully, "Sister, what should I do? I have to go see your boyfriend."

This sounds so awkward.

Rina: "You don't have to go."

"Sister, don't you want me to be found out?"

"Does your sister think I'm beneath her dignity?"

"But that makes sense, after all, we did something dishonorable."

"Even though he is my sister's boyfriend, we can still be very good friends."

"If my sister wants to keep it a secret, then I won't go."

His voice was low, but his tone was serious.

Kurosawa Shiran kept talking in her ear the whole way, and Rina actually fell asleep for the first time ever.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but when she woke up, the car was already parked in the yard.

Rina felt extremely dizzy and got out of the car in a daze. After looking around for a while, she realized that the car had been changed to a Bentley during her nap.

Kurosawa Shiran was carrying a shopping bag from the supermarket, with an exquisite gift box at her feet.

"Sister, let's go inside."

Rina: "......What is this?"

Kurosawa Shiran smiled slightly, "Of course, it's a gift I prepared for him when we first met."

Rina felt a chill run down her spine for no reason, but she didn't say anything.

Hopefully it's not some dangerous item.
