Chapter 71 This…

Chapter 71 This…

Rina prides herself on being a very wary person, so the sudden appearance of a... inexplicable husband is still quite strange.

She leaned back on the sofa, flipping through the documents that Kurosawa Shiran had compiled.

The text describes her work experience, upbringing, social network, and how she cruelly abandoned the giant rabbit.

Most of these are related to her lost memories, but they are not coherent; it's clear that some things have been deleted.

For example, the opportunity that led her to join the detective agency, and Suzuki Takeshi's final act of mercy.

After watching for a while, a hint of a smile appeared in the brown pupils behind the gold-rimmed glasses.

She asked, "Neither of the sniper's two bullets hit the heart?"

Kurosawa Shiran cleared the table, washed his hands, sat down next to her, and said in a serious tone, "The wind was very strong that day, and the scene was extremely chaotic. As snipers, they were indeed derelict in their duties."

Rina chuckled softly and continued flipping through the documents in her hand. "I'm not telling the truth."

"Sister," Kurosawa Shiran drawled, then began to whine again, "Why do you have to pursue this matter? Anyway, it's all over now, and you can't go back to Japan. There's nothing wrong with settling down here."

Indeed, for a wanted criminal, living in seclusion is the best option, but with her mind blank, Rina is still a little unaccustomed to it: "Are you happy?"

“Sister, you can’t wrong me. If you think that way about me,” Kurosawa Shiran grinned mischievously, “then I’ll have to shut you up.”

Rina narrowed her eyes and subtly changed the subject: "Losing memories is such a troublesome thing."

“The doctor will be here soon,” Kurosawa Shiran said. “Let him examine you first.”

"That's quite thoughtful," Rina said. "What kind of work do you do?"

Kurosawa Shiran: "At school."

Rina: "..."

Is it really appropriate for someone approaching 30 to be into such a young and immature woman?

Kurosawa Tokiaki: "At the University of St Andrews."

The two were talking normally, but somehow they got closer and closer. Rina keenly sensed something was wrong. "In the royal family's back garden, you still have ties with the royal family?"

It has to be said that some people have naturally keen intuition, and even if they lose their memory, their minds remain exceptionally sharp. Kurosawa Shiran reached out and intertwined his fingers with hers. "He's just an illegitimate child. I guess he'll take a dislike to me one day and treat me like a beggar. But I will definitely take good care of my sister and won't let her suffer."

Rina felt a chill run down her spine, and before she could react, Kurosawa Shiran pulled her onto his lap. "Sister, would you like some fruit?"

Rina glanced at the fruit plate on the coffee table, which contained nine kinds of fruit, all cut very neatly, almost as if they were carved.

She looked at Kurosawa Shiran incredulously, wondering where he got the idea to say it. "Looks pretty good—"

Before she could finish speaking, Kurosawa Shiran picked up a skewer, stuck a piece of strawberry in it, and put it to her lips. "Then I'll feed you, sister."

Rina was extremely unwilling to adopt this posture, and besides, she had hands and feet; it would be too embarrassing for her to look like a newlywed bride.

She placed one arm against her chest, saying, "Put me down first."

Kurosawa Shiran didn't move, he just blinked. After a moment of stalemate, just as he was about to pull his hand back, Rina couldn't bear it, grabbed his wrist, ate the strawberry, and then took the opportunity to escape.

Rina saw the violin in the shop window and was a little surprised. "You can play the violin?"

Kurosawa Shiran used the skewer to pick up a piece of strawberry, put it in her mouth, and said, "It's my older sister."

Rina: "Can I take it off and take a look?"

Kurosawa Shiran lay back on the sofa, propping her chin up as she quietly watched Rina, her eyes fixed on her without ever looking away. "Does my sister have to be so polite with me?"

"Of course, what if I break something meaningful?" Rina pushed open the glass of the display window, took out the violin, gently brushed her fingertips across the strings, and then tried to draw a series of delicate notes with the bow.

Kurosawa Shiran said, "When I was sick, my sister would play the violin for me, but that only happened once."

“I have some fragmented memories in my mind,” Rina paused what she was doing and slowly began to speak. “My parents hoped that I would become a musician when I grew up, but I felt that I had no talent in this area, so I gave up.”

A smile flickered in Kurosawa's blue eyes as he chewed on a strawberry and swallowed it: "I guess my sister isn't interested in the violin."

Rina: "Don't expose me."

Kurosawa Shiran: "My sister likes more exciting things."

Just then, the apartment doorbell rang.

Kurosawa Shiran got up to open the door.

The doctor came in carrying a briefcase, followed by an assistant who was dragging a large suitcase.

The two spent about three hours examining Rina.

As a result, apart from lacking some rehabilitation training, there were no major problems with his body.

Rina asked, "Why did I lose my memory?"

The doctor said, "When people are subjected to strong stimuli, they may subconsciously forget some things, which is called stress-related memory impairment. This situation is only temporary. After a few weeks, as the brain's stress response weakens and the hippocampus function recovers, the memory will gradually return."

Rina raised an eyebrow, but Kurosawa's blue expression wasn't very pleasant.

After the doctor gave her a few instructions and left, Rina was in a pretty good mood. She picked up her violin again and practiced, playing a long, melodious tune that enveloped the entire room.

Then, out of the blue, she said, "That doctor cheated on his wife."

"What?" Kurosawa Shiran was taken aback, and it took her a moment to realize what she was talking about.

“He said it himself. His wife went on a business trip this month, but she smelled of women’s perfume. Ordinary colleagues wouldn’t put their fragrance on their collars. Maybe for convenience, he even took off his ring and put it in his pocket.” Rina’s sensitivity to unusual signs was ingrained in her bones. She gave a mischievous smile and said, “What are you feeling guilty about? Did you cheat on me?”

Kurosawa Shiran was indeed somewhat absent-minded, and even forgot to deny the following sentence, "I'm just worried about my sister regaining her memories."

“There’s nothing to be afraid of,” Rina said, standing by the window with her back to him, her violin draped over her shoulder. “Painful memories won’t break me, because I haven’t sold my soul to the devil.”

Even if you've experienced the most painful feelings and the most heart-wrenching emotions in the past, you can't stop moving forward.

Through each increasingly profound and unforgettable baptism, the phoenix will surely rise from the ashes.

Kurosawa Shiran was silent for a while, quietly waiting for her restless heart and blood to calm down. "If I cheat on my husband, my sister will make me a chain, then lock me in a dark room and torture me every day."

Rina chuckled and said casually, "Isn't this a reward for you?"

Kurosawa Shiran made no attempt to hide her true thoughts, and couldn't help but smile, saying, "Sister really does understand me the most."

As soon as she finished speaking, a very soft sound filled the room, like a feather slowly falling, as if the whole world had slowed down. Just as that soft sound was about to fade away, the next note followed unhurriedly. She let down her guard and immersed herself in the gentle music.

The eye of the storm is the most unique part of the storm system.

Rina is like the eye of a storm, extremely calm, while Kurosawa Toki is the outer gale that sweeps everything away. People often think that the gale is the most destructive, but little do they know that Rina controls that storm.

The two are a match made in heaven.

Author's Note: I haven't decided on the specifics of the side story yet, but I can share some details with everyone. I started writing this story after watching the Lewis Heroes series. I really love the style of British dramas—it's so elegant!!! I also love the cinematography. I originally wanted the male and female leads to start their crime-solving careers in London, a cute young detective x a cunning female detective, but my writing and brainpower are insufficient. After finishing this story, I feel like I've lost a lot of my precious hair [crying][crying][crying]. I have to put it on hold for now, and I still have work... My life is a mess, and this is the only place I can find peace.

Thank you for reading.
