Chapter 118: Vicious Attack

She put on a veil and let her long veil hang down to cover her face. She got off the carriage and walked into the restaurant. She did not go into the private room, but found a table in the corner and sat down.

Sure enough, she soon heard the answer she wanted to know.

Sitting next to them were a few traveling merchants, who were discussing business while eating and paying no attention to Xie Wanyun.

"Ah, the things in this world are really clear. Yesterday he was a tyrant, but today he has become a useless person." A guest drank a few glasses of wine and sighed under the influence of alcohol.

"Isn't it? It's quite tragic. As for Zheng Tong," the guest who took over deliberately lowered his voice, "he deserved it, but Madam Xie was too cruel."

Xie Wanyun was a martial artist with excellent hearing, and these words came clearly into her ears.

Her eyes turned cold.

The previous guest continued, "Who says she isn't? How could she be so cruel, even as a woman? It makes me feel cold inside just thinking about it."

Xie Wanyun was a little shocked when she heard this. What happened to Zheng Tong? She had no idea.

"I heard his hands were broken and his eyes were blinded."

"More than that? Even his tongue was cut off!"

Several people spoke in low voices.

A bone-chilling chill rose from Xie Wanyun's heart.

So that's why everyone was avoiding her. Zheng Tong had offended many people, but few were strong enough to retaliate against him, especially since he had just been taught a lesson by Xie Wanyun. Therefore, she was the most suspicious.

"Women have the most vicious hearts. When this woman gets cruel, it's really deadly." The guest said while shaking his head.

Yuzhui got angry when he heard this and turned around to argue with them.

Xie Wanyun held her back and shook her head. She had no evidence to prove her innocence, and rushing to explain would only make people think she was guilty.

She stood up and left the restaurant. Yuzhui whispered, "Madam, why don't you explain? It's obviously not you who did this."

"Since you didn't do it, there's no need to explain. Besides, do you think they will believe me if I explain?" Xie Wanyun said calmly.

"This..." Yuzhui was speechless. He couldn't help but ask, "Do you know who did this?"

Xie Wanyun shook his head, "I don't know."

The Duke of Jingguo held a high position of power, and with his only son suffering such a tragic fate, she would have to investigate thoroughly. Who knew what old stories would be brought up, what unexpected developments would arise? So, for her, the more chaotic the situation, the better. If she wanted to reopen the Duke of Zhenguo's case, she would have to find the right opportunity.

Maybe it lies in this incident?

But who on earth had the guts to destroy Zheng Tong? Most importantly, what was their motive? She was completely baffled.

Zheng Tong had many enemies, but most of them were merchants and ordinary people. For many years, those people had endured their humiliation and were obviously not strong enough to fight him.

Moreover, the means used were cruel and not something an ordinary person could do.

So, who could it be?

Suddenly, a name popped into her mind.

Yan Suizhi. Could it be him? What was his motive for doing this? Was he repaying her kindness by venting his anger just because she saved him?

But she didn't need such a reward from him.

"Yan Suizhi, I really hope it's not you." She whispered.

As for Liu Yun'er, Qin Su'an's leg was injured again, so he stayed at home every day to recuperate. Liu Yun'er also stayed with him and took care of him carefully.

It's just that Qin Su'an was in a bad mood, and he thought that his leg was injured again because of her, so he took it out on her from time to time, glaring and cursing, and Liu Yun'er could only swallow her anger.

That day, Liu Yun'er was in the kitchen preparing medicine when she heard Qin Su'an calling him at the top of his voice.

She quickly told Chunmei to take good care of the medicine and hurried out of the kitchen. Unexpectedly, the remaining snow on the steps had not been swept clean and had frozen, so she stepped on it without paying attention.

Before she could react, she fell to the ground with a cry of "Ouch!". It was cold and she was dressed warmly, so her butt didn't hurt. But the scary thing was that she felt a sharp pain in her stomach, and she immediately broke out in a cold sweat.

Chunmei heard the noise and rushed out to help her, repeatedly asking, "Madam, what's wrong with you? Did you fall?"

Liu Yun'er gritted her teeth and cursed, "Can't you see if I fell?" She struggled to get up twice but failed, and her stomach hurt even more.
