Chapter 121 Flying a Kite

"I like it, I like it!" Jin Bai couldn't bear to put it down after taking it in his hand.

"This kite comes with a whistle. When the whistle blows when it flies, it feels just like the real thing." The vendor said as he picked up the bamboo whistle and blew hard.

The whistle sounds high and clear.

"Ah! That's great!" Jinbai suddenly saw another big monkey kite. The monkey was golden all over, scratching its ears and cheeks. Its expression was very lifelike, and its eyeballs were still moving.

The vendor laughed and said, "Guys all like monkeys. This monkey's eyes are alive. They turn when it flies, just like the real thing."

"Thank you, Auntie. Can you fly a kite with me, please?" Jin Bai begged with a look of longing on her face.

"Okay! Choose whichever you like," Xie Wanyun said with a smile. She had always been strict with her children, but for some reason, she couldn't be tough when it came to Jin Bai.

"Thank you, Auntie!" Jin Bai was overjoyed and simply called her Auntie, not even saying thank you. He picked up the big monkey and wouldn't let go, running away in a hurry to release it.

Xie Wanyun looked at the child running and laughing, and heard his silver bell-like laughter, and suddenly felt a little jealous of Yan Suizhi.

Yan Suizhi also arrived, and the two of them stood quietly watching Jin Bai fly the kite.

Jin Bai ran around, but the kite was probably too big for him to reach high enough, so he couldn't get it up. Panting, he ran over and coquettishly put the spool of thread into Xie Wanyun's hand, "Aunt Xie, please hold it for me for a while. I'm tired."

Then he turned around and pulled Yan Suizhi, "Uncle, can you help me put it away?"

Yan Suizhi patted his head and said, "Okay."

Xie Wanyun lowered his head and sorted the spools of thread.

Her long eyelashes fluttered gently on her lower eyelids, her nose was high and her lips were red and sparkling.

Her hands were graceful, her fingers long and slender, but her palms were covered with calluses, the marks left by years of sword practice.

Yan Suizhi stared at her hand without blinking, feeling a dull pain in his heart and feeling heartbroken.

"Uncle! Fly the kite quickly!" Jin Bai saw him in a daze and hurriedly urged him.

"Okay, okay." Yan Suizhi regained his composure and raised the kite high.

Xie Wanyun loosened the string, and the giant monkey soared straight up, its black eyes moving vividly.

"It looks so good!" Jin Bai clapped his hands excitedly and jumped and shouted.

Xie Wanyun smiled as she watched the kite soar higher and higher. Her long black hair danced in the wind, and the corners of her black robe fluttered and rustled.

Dressed in black, with a figure of graceful proportions and a lean, upright body, he stood quietly in the snow, looking mysterious and aloof.

Yan Suizhi looked at her almost obsessively, with a myriad of emotions surging in his eyes.

Looking down at the delicate little Jinbai, he saw a hint of wet red at the corners of his eyes.

The three of them stood together—Yan Suizhi was stunningly beautiful, Xie Wanyun was elegant and refined, and Xiao Jinbai was as pretty as a fairy. The picture was remarkably harmonious.

Before they knew it, a lot of people had gathered around them, looking at them with envy.

Xie Wanyun looked around; she didn't like being watched like this. Then she looked at Yan Suizhi, who seemed completely unconcerned.

She felt that she had never understood him.

"Jinbai, can you hold the thread yourself?" Xie Wanyun bent down to look at Jinbai and handed him the spool of thread.

Jinbai nodded repeatedly, took the spool, and ran. Seeing the big monkey flying higher and higher, he laughed excitedly and shouted, "Higher, farther!"

Jin Bai ran away. Xie Wanyun looked at Yan Suizhi with a deep gaze and a cold voice.

"Master Yan, was it you who did this to Zheng Tong?"

Yan Suizhi's body stiffened, and he looked back at her. His eyes, which were as bright as stars, suddenly dimmed, and his lips were tightly pursed into a line.

"Broken hands, blinded eyes, cut tongue, did you really do this?" When Xie Wanyun said these words, he felt a chill rising from his body.

Yan Suizhi watched quietly, his eyes as deep as a dry well. Light blue veins appeared faintly on his already pale face.

Remain silent.

Just when Xie Wanyun thought he wouldn't speak, he let out a light breath and nodded, "It's me."
