"Bring me the account book." Xie Wanyun said coldly.
The shopkeeper quickly brought out a stack of account books and placed them on the table, secretly wiping away the sweat from his face. This restaurant was his treasury, and he was falsifying accounts and running up deficits. Qin Su'an was a poor manager and didn't understand the market. Every time he came, he'd just pretend to look at the books, then curse and get angry, only to be tricked into leaving with some lies. Chunyilou was his world, and he could do whatever he wanted.
Xie Wanyun flipped through a few books and spotted the problem. He wondered if Qin Su'an had a brain of his own. He couldn't even see such a big loophole. It would be strange if he didn't lose money running the restaurant this way.
Xie Wanyun closed the account book, said nothing, and went to the warehouse to check. He was shocked when he saw it. The shopkeeper and several managers had treated Chunyi Tower as their own treasury, and had cheated Qin Su'an, the sucker.
She didn't want to watch anymore and sent them away. One of the managers was dissatisfied and chased her to ask for her wages. Xie Wanyun sneered, "Okay, by the way, I'll settle all the money you've embezzled over the years."
The man immediately lost heart, and the others, seeing that things were not going well, packed up their bags and left in shame.
Xie Wanyun posted a notice that Chunyilou would be closed for three days for renovations. She planned to transfer a few capable people from Chenlou to help revamp the place. After all, it was now her responsibility, and she would turn this mess into a treasure trove.
She then visited several other tea shops and department stores, finding the situation similar. These were clearly high-quality assets, yet they had become tainted by the Qin family's hands. Xie Wanyun's swift and decisive actions, and after a series of reforms, these shops were beginning to show results.
That day, she came to a house. The reason she came here was because it was a house that was currently rented to an official whose family lived in another place. Unlike a shop, it did not have business risks and benefits.
The official was about to be transferred elsewhere and was planning to return the house to the Qin family. Wei hadn't intended to take the deed out at the time, but she'd accidentally brought it along with her belongings. By the time she discovered it, Xie Wanyun had already taken it. If they were to ask for it back, they were worried Xie Wanyun wouldn't give it back, and they were also afraid she'd become suspicious and refuse to manage the business with all her heart. Besides, the house was real estate, so there was no fear of her playing tricks on them; it would only show their sincerity.
Xie Wanyun looked outside the house and found that the environment here was very good. The yard was full of flowers, plants and trees. The yard was not big but it seemed to be winding and deep. It was located in the city center but was quiet in the hustle and bustle.
The Qin family clearly has such a nice house, but they all stay in her Zhenguo Mansion and rent out their own house. This is really a smart calculation.
She also found this place familiar, but she couldn't remember where it was until she turned a corner and realized it was very close to Yan Suizhi's residence. She felt inexplicably relieved.
She and Qin Su'an would eventually divorce, so it was time to take note of the house. If she could reclaim the house, she and Yan Suizhi would become neighbors, which would be nice.
Xie Wanyun raised the corners of his lips unconsciously.
Now that she had full control of the Qin family's assets, she carefully inspected them one by one and discovered that in addition to the few rooms handed over to her by the two old ladies, there were even more assets hidden away. These things were all taken away from her by them through coaxing and deception, and unexpectedly, they fell into her hands again after a series of twists and turns.
She went through it carefully and figured out all the properties and shops. She wanted to make the Qin family return them just as they had taken them from her.
These people had sucked enough of her blood.
When she first married into the Marquis of Yuanxing's Mansion, the mansion had already fallen into decline and even the house had been mortgaged to pay off debts. Without saying a word, Xie Wanyun had the whole family move into the Duke of Zhenguo's Mansion and changed the name of the mansion to the Marquis of Yuanxing's Mansion.
Then he was bullied, deceived, and drugged by this family, turning into a half-crazy fool.
She finds it unbelievable when she thinks about it now. Was she under a spell back then?
