Chapter 171 Qin Suan is unemployed

The Xie family's guards brought a man in, and Qin Su'an groaned inwardly. This man was none other than the merchant Liu Yun'er had approached. It was all over now, the man had been caught red-handed. Xie Wanyun had come prepared, a trap set for him. But then again, if he hadn't been greedy, he wouldn't have fallen for it.

Looking at the cotton cloth again, it was delicate, thick, and warm. The outer packaging was numbered, and a small "Xie" (Thanks) was embroidered in the corner of each piece. It was indeed the work of the Xie family. There were also other military supplies, but they were running low.

The merchant had recently won a big client and his business was booming, making a lot of money. Today, he was busy when suddenly a few people came to his door like wolves and took away all his goods, and then sent them here with the goods.

This man was originally a profiteer who was greedy for profit. Seeing that he had caused trouble in the court, he dared not quibble anymore and immediately spilled the beans.

He begged for mercy with a sad face, "Sir, I know nothing. I just wanted to make some money. I really didn't know these were military supplies. If I had known, I wouldn't have dared to do this even if I had ten times the courage!"

"Don't dare? I think you are very brave. You even dare to touch military supplies. You really want to die. Who contacted you?" Xie Wanyun said in a deep voice.

When she saw Qin Su'an's evasive look that day, she guessed that he was going to take action on this batch of goods, so she quietly sent someone to follow him, and sure enough, she caught him red-handed.

She remained silent, secretly following the merchant and then sent someone to deliver a letter to Zhang, the head official. She had laid the bait and was just waiting for Qin Su'an to jump in.

"Yes, a young lady. She said her husband had some fine goods and could trade them with me. I thought it would be a jerk not to take advantage of such a good opportunity, so I was obsessed with money and did something wrong. My lord, at best, I just passed off inferior goods as good ones, which is not a big deal. I am willing to accept the punishment. Please forgive me, sir."

The merchant cried bitterly.

Xie Wanyun said to Zhang, "Master Zhang, everything has been clarified. My Xie family's business is innocent. Qin Su'an should be dealt with according to the law. Don't worry about my reputation. I will take my leave first."

Zhang had originally thought that all the things had been recovered. Qin Su'an was, after all, the son-in-law of the Xie family. He was wondering what to do if Xie Wanyun asked for mercy. He did not expect her to be so understanding and immediately moved. He hurriedly said, "Madam, please do as you please."

Xie Wanyun walked past Qin Suan without even glancing at him.

"Xie Wanyun, you're so cruel." Qin Su'an was filled with hatred and anger. This time, he was completely screwed. He had known for a long time that Xie Wanyun didn't have such kind intentions. Sure enough, everything she did was to set him up.

And that idiot Liu Yun'er, if she hadn't instigated him, he wouldn't have done it. He blamed this and that, and the fault lay with everyone else. But so what? He still had to bear the consequences.

Zhang reported the matter to his superior, who was furious. The result was quickly announced: Qin Su'an was severely punished with fifty lashes of the cane, dismissed from his official position, and never employed again.

This has ended Qin Suan's career path.

Qin Su'an had been beaten, and although he was already lame on one leg, now both were lame, so it wasn't noticeable. He hated Xie Wanyun so much that he decided not to return to his house and moved directly back to the Marquis' Mansion.

Every day he would wail in pain in his room, beat and scold his servants, and throw things in anger.

The two old ladies were arguing so much that their heads were splitting. But after all, this matter could not be blamed on Xie Wanyun, and besides, they had taken Xie Wanyun's money.

He couldn't bear to blame Qin Su'an, and didn't dare to offend the Goddess of Wealth. He just hated Liu Yun'er. It was all her instigation, and he would never agree to let her move in.

Liu Yun'er had no choice but to go back crying, but she came in from time to time to serve Qin Su'an. Although the two old ladies couldn't stand her, they couldn't keep driving her away. After all, Uncle Qin, who had lame legs, still needed someone to take care of him.

Although she was not driven away, she was not allowed to stay overnight, and she had to leave before Xie Wanyun came back.

Liu Yun'er had no choice but to accept it reluctantly.
