Chapter 185 I don’t care what others do, as long as you trust me

The waiter brought out the dishes in a steady stream, luxurious and exquisite. Xie Wanyun frowned slightly and stopped them, saying, "That's enough. The three of us can't eat so much. It's such a waste."

"No waste. The dishes in this restaurant are very unique. I just want you to try every one of them." Yan Suizhi whispered.

Xie Wanyun's heart moved, but he remained silent.

Jinbai is a child after all. Seeing so many delicious foods, his attention was immediately drawn to them. He took a bite of this, tasted that, and was very busy having fun.

Xie Wanyun busied herself with caring for him, while Yan Suizhi kept serving her the food. Xie Wanyun was humble, so she returned the favor. The group chatted and laughed, the atmosphere warm and harmonious. To an outsider, the scene looked like a family of three outing, yet the individuals involved were unaware of the situation.

Jinbai was full and clamored to go play in the pavilion in the center of the lake, so the two got up and followed him.

Jin Bai trotted ahead, followed closely by several servants, while Yan Suizhi and Xie Wanyun walked at a leisurely pace.

Although the weather has warmed up, it's still a bit chilly. A gentle breeze ripples the lake's surface. The clear water gently laps against the shore, making a gurgling sound, and the water plants sway and rise in response to the current.

The path paved with white stones is winding and the grass is green on both sides of the road.

Xie Wanyun suddenly felt something was unreal. She turned her head to look at the person beside her. Yan Suizhi was wearing a black robe and a bright red cloak, which made his face look like a beautiful jade and his appearance was extremely beautiful.

"Yan Suizhi." She no longer called him Lord Yan.

"Hmm?" Yan Suizhi stared at her, his pupils dark, highlighting Xie Wanyun's pretty figure.

"You haven't forgotten the Xie family, and you haven't forgotten my father, right?" Xie Wanyun stared at him.

Yan Suizhi's eyes shone brightly, he pursed his thin lips, and clenched his slender fingers into fists in his sleeves.

Xie Wanyun waited quietly for his answer.

Yan Suizhi was in a fierce struggle. Could he tell her? The answer was still no. What he was doing was too dangerous. He alone would go to hell. Mimi and Jinbai, they had to live well, live for him.

A deep sigh escaped his lips.

"How could I possibly forget? Without the Duke of Zhenguo, without you, I would have long since become a starving man on the street, and there would be no way I would be the Deputy Minister of the Cabinet, Lord Yan, today."

"If that's the case, why did you abandon the Xie family that day? That was the most difficult time for the Xie family, and you chose that time to join your political enemies. You must have your reasons, right? Can you tell me? After all, I am the only blood of the Xie family, and no one has more reason to know the whole story than me." Xie Wanyun looked straight into his eyes, but his eyes were too deep, so deep that she couldn't see through them and couldn't understand them.

"Don't ask, Meimei, I can't tell you." Yan Suizhi's eyes were gentle, and his voice was even gentler, like a spring breeze. But he was extremely firm.

"It's enough for you to believe that I haven't let the Duke of Zhenguo down, and I haven't let the Xie family down."

Xie Wanyun was furious. She had thought they had finally gotten to the point where they could be honest with each other, but Yan Suizhi still hid everything from her.

She said angrily, "What's the point if I'm the only one who believes it? Don't you care at all about what others say about you?"

Yan Suizhi didn't care at all and smiled faintly. All the charm was concentrated in his eyebrows.

"Why should I care what others do? I just want you to believe in me. Meimei."

Xie Wanyun's expression was gloomy. Well, since he wouldn't be honest with her, why should she keep pestering him?

Jin Bai had already run to the center of the pavilion and waved at them, "Uncle—Aunt Xie—come here quickly—"

Xie Wanyun also waved at him, turned around and said to Yan Suizhi, "You play with Jin Bai for a while. I have something else to do in the shop, so I can't go over. I'll take my leave first."

"Mianmei!" Yan Suizhi shouted in a low voice.

Xie Wanyun's body trembled slightly, but he did not stop and walked away without looking back.

"Mianmei, I'm sorry. When the time comes for me to tell you, I'll tell you everything without reservation."

Yan Suizhi stopped and murmured as he looked at her figure getting farther and farther away.

"Sir, Madam Xie has gone far away." Qingshu stood aside and reminded in a low voice.

"Oh, are you gone?" Yan Sui repeated subconsciously.

"Yes, sir. Miss Zhou is here and is waiting for you in the mansion." Qingshu answered cautiously.

"Miss Zhou?" Yan Suizhi's mind obviously hadn't come to its senses yet, and he didn't know who this Miss Zhou was.

"Ms. Zhou Mengdie. You saved her before."
