Xie Wanyun continued to look at the gazelle. The goat was so frightened that it stood there motionless, staring at her with its big eyes.
Others also gathered around, but seeing that Xie Wanyun didn't move and the emperor didn't say anything, they didn't dare to take action.
Dezong looked at her deeply. Then he turned and shouted, "Make way and release that yellow sheep!"
The warriors hurriedly stepped aside. The gazelle, clearly in disbelief, stood there motionless, foolishly. It wasn't until the distant bleating of a lamb reached its ears from the grass that it suddenly awoke, leaping to its feet and darting away.
A smile played on Xie Wanyun's lips, and a hint of relief appeared in his eyes.
Dezong looked at her with an ambiguous look in his eyes.
Yan Suizhi was full of pride and appreciation.
Emperor Dezong was in high spirits and galloped his horse, his hooves treading over a shallow stream and rushing up a ridge.
"Your Majesty, the hunting grounds ahead are no longer within our reach. Please return!"
The emperor was riding a Ferghana horse, which was very fast. In addition, he didn't like being surrounded by people, so the guards had to follow him. When they saw that the emperor had run out of the hunting ground, they hurriedly chased him and shouted at the top of their lungs.
Xie Wanyun's eyes flashed, and she kicked her horse's belly, spurring it on. She was an excellent rider, and without the guards' scruples, she was getting closer and closer to the emperor.
Suddenly, the roar of a wild beast was heard from the top of the mountain ridge, followed by a huge black shadow rushing out!
"Bear!"
Everyone exclaimed in surprise. Everyone knew how dangerous a bear just out of hibernation could be! After a winter of exhaustion, its stored fat and nutrients were almost gone. It was extremely hungry and violent, and would attack any prey it could.
Emperor Dezong's horse neighed loudly and staggered backward.
Dezong tried his best to control the frightened horse, but it was obvious that he was unable to do so.
The black bear was more than two men tall, with thick black fur. It roared angrily at being disturbed and rushed towards Dezong, waving its huge paws.
"Your Majesty!" The crowd in the distance exclaimed in surprise. Some drew their bows, but due to the distance and fear of accidentally injuring the emperor, they dared not fire.
Emperor Dezong had already drawn his sword to fight back, but the frightened horse was extremely difficult to control, and Dezong was caught in a dilemma and in danger.
The black bear had just been stabbed and was furious. It opened its bloody mouth and roared. It looked clumsy, but it ran extremely fast.
Soon he caught up and slapped the horse's buttocks with his bear paw! The horse splattered blood, let out a long and mournful wail, and fell to the ground.
Emperor Dezong fell from his horse and rolled on the ground, avoiding the bear's attack, but his knife fell. Before he could pick it up, the black bear pounced on him, and Dezong could already smell the stench of the beast's mouth.
"It's over. I didn't expect to die here today." Emperor Dezong thought in despair.
"Swoosh!" A heavy arrow broke through the air and steadily pierced the center of the crescent moon on the black bear's chest.
"Ah!" The beast struggled in its death throes, stood up straight and pounced on Dezong.
A white figure attacked like lightning, and a steel knife flashing with cold light had already cut deeply into the white crescent.
It was the steel knife that Dezong had just dropped.
The person holding the knife was Xie Wanyun.
"Your Majesty, be careful!" Xie Wanyun shouted loudly, flew up, and kicked the black bear in the face with a series of fierce and accurate kicks.
The bear was struck by an arrow and then a knife, both in the heart. It was already at the end of its strength, so how could it escape now? Amidst the screams, the bear's eyes were kicked out and it fell to the ground with a loud bang.
Xie Wanyun was worried, so he raised his knife and chopped a few more times, making sure the bear was dead. He then breathed a sigh of relief and saluted Emperor Dezong, "Your Majesty, I am sorry that you were frightened! I am late in helping you, please forgive me!"
Emperor Dezong's clothes were soaked with sweat, and he couldn't muster any strength. He waved his hand and said, "You have done a great service in saving me. I want to thank you very much."
The guards and others arrived at this time. Seeing that the bear had been killed, they felt relieved and knelt down to apologize.
