Chapter 80 Jinbai's Friends

His face darkened immediately, and he said, "Jin Bai, what are you doing? Why are you so dirty? Where are the people following you?"

Jin Bai said with a grin, "They were so stupid that I easily threw them off."

Xie Wanyun was both angry and amused after hearing this. He didn't show any of it on his face, but simply said with a stern face, "What nonsense! What if something goes wrong? Have you forgotten what happened at the storytelling hall?"

Seeing that she was angry, Jin Bai was also a little scared, so he lowered his head and said nothing.

Xie Wanyun shook his head helplessly, got off the carriage, patted the snow and mud on his body, and softened his tone and said, "Why are you hanging out with these people? Do your uncle and your aunt Gan Min know about it?"

Jin Bai quickly shook her head, "They don't know, Aunt Xie, please don't tell them."

Her dark eyes rolled around a few times, and seeing that although Xie Wanyun had a stern face, she didn't seem to be really angry, she stretched out her little hand to grab the corner of her robe and begged, "Aunt Xie, please don't tell my uncle, otherwise he will lock me up again."

Xie Wanyun snorted coldly and looked around. "If you're afraid of being locked up, then stop messing around! Who allowed you to run around? And hang out with these people..."

"Thank you, Auntie. They are all my friends!" Jin Bai said seriously.

"What?" Xie Wanyun was shocked! How come Jin Bai made friends with a group of little beggars after not seeing him for a few days?

Why does this child have so many problems?

Jinbai reached out and took her hand, puffed out her chest, and shouted loudly: "Xiaodouzi, Fourth Brother, Xiaochuan, all of you come here! Don't be afraid, this is my aunt."

The group of beggars had been frightened and scattered when they saw the tall, magnificent carriage approach. Then, seeing a distinguished lady disembark, their curiosity piqued, and they kept hiding in the alleyways to watch. When Jin Bai called out to them, they gathered around.

Xie Wanyun looked at this group of children. The oldest was only twelve or thirteen years old, and the youngest was only five or six years old. They were all pale and thin, shivering in the cold wind.

I couldn't help but feel a little pity.

Jin Bai carefully observed her expression. This child was very smart and knew that Aunt Xie had softened her heart.

She rolled her dark eyes, pulled over a thin boy, and introduced him, "Aunt, this is Fourth Brother, the leader of the group. He's really amazing. Last time, when Xiaoya was sick, he cured her."

The boy was a little nervous. He straightened his thin body and wanted to call Xie Wanyun, but hesitated and closed his mouth.

Jin Bai let him go and pulled a timid little girl over, saying, "Aunt, this is Xiaoya. Fourth Brother picked her up from the river."

The little girl, only about five or six years old, was so thin it was heartbreaking. She glanced up at Xie Wanyun for a moment before quickly lowering her head. Her ripped pants revealed thin, blackened legs, and her shoes were so worn that her toes were exposed, blackened. Her tiny feet, covered in chilblains, twisted restlessly.

Jinbai let go of her and pulled a boy over.

"This is Xiaodouzi. His father married a stepmother, and she always beat him, so he ran away."

Xiaodouzi looked about seven or eight years old, with a silly smile. Seeing Xie Wanyun looking at him, he shyly scratched the back of his head.

Jinbai continued to introduce his friends enthusiastically.

"Aunt, this is Xiaochuan. His father is gone, so he followed his mother to Beijing to seek shelter with relatives. But they couldn't find any relatives, and their travel expenses were all gone. Now his mother is sick again, and she's waiting for him in a dilapidated temple to beg for food."

"And Qiaomei, Shitou..." Jinbai introduced them one by one.

The children gathered in a circle and looked at Xie Wanyun quietly.

Xie Wanyun looked at these children one by one, and his eyes darkened.

In such a cold day, these homeless children gathered together to keep warm.

I wonder if her children will also end up on the streets like this?

Will someone give him a piece of clothing to keep him warm and a piece of bread to fill his stomach?
