Chapter 11 White Mushrooms
Saul's first public class was learning witchcraft characters.
The one taking the class wasn't a wizard instructor, nor was he even a third-level apprentice.
He is just a second-level apprentice with an unremarkable appearance.
His mind was not on teaching at all, and it was obvious that he took this course just to earn credits.
He spoke very quickly and did not allow people to ask questions.
After raising her hand for the third time and being ignored, Keli puffed up her cheeks in anger.
"Okay, does anyone feel dizzy or even nauseous after hearing this?" The second-level apprentice in charge of teaching finally raised his head and asked everyone a question.
Seven or eight people in the classroom raised their hands, obviously they were all newcomers.
"Heh," the apprentice in charge of the lecture sneered, "With such poor mental strength, I really don't understand how you passed the test."
He slammed the heavy book on the podium shut, straightened his back, and crossed his arms across his chest.
"Noah's script is the most common and basic of all wizard scripts. If you can't even read this script for more than an hour, then I advise you to just give up on advancing to level two."
The few newcomers who raised their hands put their hands back under the table, their faces red with shame. Some people were also indignant, but did not dare to refute openly.
The second-level apprentice bent his knuckles and banged on the cover of the book.
"This is too basic, there's nothing much to say. When you go back and study on your own, if you can read for more than half an hour without feeling dizzy, you'll be considered qualified. If the time is longer, the better, but don't force yourself. I don't want a large number of you to die so soon."
Why did this guy suddenly become so kind as to remind everyone? Thor thought he must have another purpose.
Sure enough, the second-level apprentice's next words were, "If you are really too stupid and need to ask me questions, remember to exchange them with magic crystals or credits."
His eyes fell on Keli who raised her hand several times and he raised his eyebrows.
"But I guess you don't have much money right now, just a bunch of white mushrooms."
He snorted coldly, picked up the book, and walked out of the front door of the classroom with his chin raised in a cool manner.
"White mushrooms?" Kelly turned around and asked Thor in confusion, "What do you mean?"
There is no knowledge about this in Thor's incomplete memory.
Instead, the first-level apprentice who was not a newcomer in the back row stood up and answered Keli while sorting books, "White-skinned mushrooms are the weakest and least valuable, but they are the most delicious."
Most of the people in the classroom dispersed, and only the new apprentices remained.
Doze, who had been trying to curry favor with Kelly yesterday, walked over quickly, and his friend Rocky followed behind him timidly.
Doze pulled on Keli's sleeve and said, "Keli, why are you still with him?"
"What do you mean?"
Doze had seen how Thor dealt with Duke yesterday, and he was a little afraid to look Thor in the eye.
"There are second-year seniors targeting him, don't get implicated."
He didn't dare mention the fact that Sol cheated to pass the apprentice test in front of Sol. He just wanted to wait for a chance to tell Kelly in private and persuade him to stay away from Sol, and preferably move away from Sol's house to avoid being implicated.
"Do you think others will treat us kindly? Ha, white mushroom!"
Keli turned around and walked away, holding the book, imitating the expression of the second-level apprentice who was teaching the class as he left.
Without Keli standing in the way, Doze quickly took a few steps back and looked at Thor warily.
Thor lowered his head, picked up the books and papers on the table, ignored Doze and walked out of the classroom.
After Thor left, Dozer turned back to Rocky angrily and said, "He actually ignored me?"
Rocky frowned, "Let's stay away from him."
The second public class is half an hour later and is a meditation class.
Following the instructions in the apprentice manual, Thor took the crystal ball he had received yesterday and went to another large classroom.
This classroom is fan-shaped, with high sides and low corners. The floor is covered with thick cushions and many people sit in it.
Thor even saw a few second-level apprentices among them.
He found an empty spot and sat down, leaving a seat for Keli next to him.
But as soon as he sat down, a new apprentice on his left quietly picked up the crystal ball in front of him and moved it to another position.
"Childish." Thor rolled his eyes in his heart. He was not a twelve-year-old child, and this level of exclusion would not affect him.
Just before class started, Kelly, who had her hair in pigtails, plopped down to sit on Thor's left.
Thor silently put away the book that was pressed on the cushion on the right.
"I went to ask about the price," Keli told Thor, "...it's really dark!"
"You have magic crystal?"
The new apprentices don’t have any credits yet.
"I bought it with my pocket money."
The class time soon arrived, or even passed, but the person in charge of teaching had not arrived yet.
The newcomers began to whisper to each other, while the old apprentices lowered their heads and sat very quietly.
Thor opened the meditation book in his hand. There was a strange and chaotic illustration every few pages.
Looking down at the pattern for a while will make you dizzy and disoriented, which is much more uncomfortable than reading Noah's words.
Thor was careful to avoid the patterns and read only the words on the book.
But the words on it were obscure and difficult to understand, and there were many rare characters that he didn't recognize at all.
Thor frowned as he did yesterday when he first saw the book.
At this time, footsteps were finally heard again. Thor looked up and saw a tall blonde beauty walking in with a creature that looked like a lizard and a crocodile.
She walked to the front corner of the classroom, untied the chain of the lizard or crocodile, and stood with her hands on her hips.
"For those who are here for the first time, please put your crystal balls aside and listen to me first. For those who have learned it before, please meditate on your own first."
All the elderly people around me flipped through the books one by one, held the crystal ball in their palms, and half closed their eyes.
“Is this what meditation is?” he thought to himself.
The blonde instructor in front of me started talking again, "My name is Monica, and I major in lightning. If you take my class this afternoon, remember not to bring any metal objects with you."
Before Thor realized what her words meant, a blue arc suddenly appeared on Monica's face.
The electric arc appeared and quickly disappeared, but it left a charred mark on Monica's left cheek and neck.
Monica raised her hand and tore off the charred skin completely, revealing the bright red texture underneath.
No blood flowed out, but the bulging muscles looked extremely creepy.
Especially when this huge scar appears on the face of a beautiful woman, the strong contrast makes many newlyweds lower their heads and dare not look at it again.
Thor gritted his teeth and looked at Monica. He had already seen the horrific scene of Kong Sha's half-severed head, and this was the only thing that kept him going.
“Crack, crack, crack…”
The lizard-like and crocodile-like creatures on the ground actually began to devour the charred skin that Monica had thrown away.
What a crunch! Thor and Kelly were both silent.
Each of these wizards is extremely strange. There are a few that look normal, but they are actually not normal inside.
Thor looked down and looked at his white fingertips flowing out of his sleeves.
If he becomes a wizard, will he also become a human like a monster?
Kong Sha's face, the melting little fat man, the disgusting and terrifying Gu Duo teacher, and the teacher Monica who was tearing off a layer of beautiful skin from time to time in front of him...
Is turning into a monster the price one must pay for becoming a wizard?
