Chapter 118 The Disappearing Cocoon

Chapter 118: Disappearing Cocoon

The evil spirit thing is a bit strange. Logically speaking, a sensor that is not turned on is a useless mirror and it is impossible to see the evil spirit.

But Byron and Nick didn't think that Saul was mistaken.

Anyway, whether Thor saw an illusion or not, there are only two possible results: the evil spirit exists or it doesn't.

"This is the entrance to Chuishou Valley. There can't be any powerful evil spirits here." Nick activated the sensor and checked the surroundings again.

No spirits were found.

"But Thor, why did you put the sensor on the ground?" Nick raised his head curiously, and the corner of his mouth twitched slightly, "Is it because you are too short to reach it?"

“Puff!”

Thor immediately turned to look at Byron angrily, but he only saw Byron's calm face and innocent eyes.

Thor's eyes shifted to Byron's throat. He swore that it must have been torn just now! However, the problem of height was not something he could solve now, although he firmly believed that he could grow to 1.8 meters.

"Right." Thor returned to the topic. He looked around again and made sure there were no headless monsters around. Then he whispered to the two of them, "I just saw a lot of... monsters with only heads and two feet. But they disappeared before you came back."

Thor lowered his voice again, "I didn't dare to alarm them. Do you know what kind of monster that is?"

He looked up and saw that Byron's face began to twitch.

On the other side, Nick's pupils suddenly shrank and there was obvious fear in his eyes.

"Pah!" Nick suddenly slapped himself. He looked up with a ferocious expression, "Those... monsters, are they gone now?"

Seeing that Nick was not in a good state, Thor nodded quickly, "They are all gone, otherwise I would not dare to ask you."

"I'll be alone for a while." Nick stood up suddenly and went into his tent.

After a while, a moan was heard from the tent, the kind that came from the person who covered his mouth tightly but still let out a little sound.

Byron fared better. His throat was split. “Fortunately, you didn’t alarm them. They were human-headed monsters. They could only be seen in the depths of the Valley of the Hands.”

Byron saw the confusion in Thor's eyes and sighed, "I didn't tell you before because the more people know about the existence of human-headed monsters, the easier it is to encounter them. I didn't expect you to encounter them anyway. If you attract their attention, they will probably turn you into a human-headed monster too. And you yourself will even forget that you were once a normal person."

So that's how it is. No wonder Byron and Nick didn't say a word about such a dangerous monster.

"How many monsters did you see?"

“… all over the floor.”

"Hiss..." Byron took a breath of cold air. He immediately stood up and walked to Nick's tent. "Nick, vent your anger quickly. We'd better leave here now."

Nick inside responded vaguely.

Byron came back and told Sol, "Don't dismantle the equipment, just move it to the car. Let's move to another place."

Because they were afraid that the man-headed monster might come back at any time, Byron and Thor only took the important things with them and simply gave up on the tent.

Apart from some books, Thor didn't bring much with him. But when he picked up his backpack and walked out of the tent, he suddenly froze.

Where is the cocoon of the nightmare butterfly?

Thor suddenly saw the human-headed monster when he was observing the cocoon that looked like a small silver ball.

After that, because of nervousness, he didn't pay attention to the calluses on his hands.

Looking back now, I can’t remember at all whether I put the cocoon away or not.

Thor quickly searched through his pockets and then laid on the ground to look for it, but he didn't see the silver ball.

"It's impossible to lose it. Could it have fallen to the ground and been picked up by the human-headed monster?"

Thor simply sat down, closed his eyes and began to recall.

"No, the moment I saw the human-headed monster, I no longer felt the object in my hand, so I never thought of the Nightmare Butterfly's cocoon."

Thor clenched his hands and slowly opened his eyes. "Yes, the cocoon disappeared in an instant."

After becoming a wizard apprentice, the memory is enhanced by the spiritual body, and there will be no mistakes such as forgetting where you dropped something the last moment.

He could even recall the little things he had done by concentrating on his memory.

So, Thor was sure that he didn't lose the cocoon accidentally, but that the cocoon disappeared in an instant.

At that moment, he didn't notice it at all, and only realized something was wrong after he calmed down.

"Thor!"

Senior Byron outside has already started urging us.

Thor glanced at the tent unwillingly, "Did it escape on its own, or was it stolen by some other being?"

Damn, he hasn’t even started researching yet!

But it's no longer safe here.

Even Senior Byron, a third-level apprentice, was afraid.

Thor cannot take this lightly.

He left the tent in a hurry, feeling full of regret.

At this time, Nick finally recovered from his emotional disorder and rushed back to the wooden spider with his things in his arms. However, his hands were covered with bruises, and he didn't know if it was caused by him pinching himself.

Saul already knew that because Nick was studying emotional witchcraft, he usually deliberately suppressed his emotional changes.

But if you can't help laughing or being afraid, you will have an extreme emotional outburst.

For example, laughing so hard that you faint, or being so scared that you vomit.

This side effect is actually very scary because it is usually fine, but if you encounter an extreme situation and cannot handle it calmly, you may be in danger.

Thor guessed that this might be one of the reasons why Nick had not been able to be promoted to level three.

The wood spider started up and quickly left the camp, which was already unsafe.

When Thor looked out the rear window, he vaguely saw a mass of heads at the foot of the mountain.

He looked away and pretended he saw nothing.

Opposite Thor was the mirror of the soul wave sensor.

Because they were in a hurry, they did not disassemble the instrument, but moved it directly onto the wooden spider intact.

This caused the originally spacious carriage to become crowded, and the three people had to sit against the wall.

As soon as Thor saw the mirror, he remembered the dark shadow that had appeared in it. He felt a little uncomfortable and simply turned his head away.

However, the moment he looked away, he suddenly seemed to see a silver light.

He immediately turned his gaze back.

His blurry and distorted face was reflected in the mirror, but no silver light was visible.

"Did I see it wrong?"

Thor moved his face closer so that his distorted features became clearer in the mirror.

But I still didn't see anything wrong.

Just as Thor was about to step back in confusion, he suddenly found that his left eye lit up.

Thor was startled and looked at the two people around him.

Because of the obstruction of the sensor, they should not be able to see Thor's face.

Thor then narrowed his eyes and entered a semi-immersive meditation state.

This time, Thor finally saw it.

In his left eye, a small silver ball appeared, covered with starlight, shining brightly.

Thor resisted the urge to rub his eyes and slowly lowered his head.

The cocoon of the nightmare butterfly actually moved into his eyes!
