Chapter 188 Human Figure

Chapter 188: Human Figure

Thor casts a light spell to illuminate the deep pit.

At first glance, there were only some weeds, roots and stones in the pit.

But after careful observation, Thor found some tiny black crystals in the soil. These crystals looked like stones, and if he hadn't observed carefully, he would have definitely overlooked them.

"This is a fragment of a magic crystal that has been used up." Thor picked up a fragment that was no bigger than the tip of his little finger and held it up to show Victor. "Someone has indeed used this manor to set up a magic array, but his array is underground. Unless we turn over the entire soil, we will not be able to restore the original appearance of the array, and we will have no way of knowing its specific purpose."

Victor took the fragment from Thor's hand, and gently pinched it with his thumb and index finger. The fragment turned into finer black powder and floated away with the wind.

"This pit is actually not very deep. It is enough to bury an ordinary person, but it is too shallow to be used for sealing... I guess this magic circle should be used for enhancement or temporary storage."

Thor nodded. "I think so too. So the person lying in this pit is likely to be the beneficiary of the magic circle."

"But now the pit is empty." Victor looked at Thor, "Could it be that the people inside have come out?"

Thor threw away the other fragment in his hand, stood up, and patted his knees. "It may be useless, or someone dug it out and ate it."

Victor stroked his strings worriedly, "We may have another enemy fighting for the treasure."

He reached out his hand to pull Thor up, but gave up when he saw the dirt on the other's hands.

"Don't worry, no matter how many enemies there are, I will definitely help you get the treasure and help you successfully advance to level three!"

Thor looked at the other person's hand that was stretched out and then retracted, sighed helplessly, and jumped out of the pit by himself.

However, he patted the dirt on his hands and said nonchalantly, "What are you talking about? Does a genius like me need treasures? I'd better let you advance to level three first. You are almost thirty years old, don't let you be contaminated suddenly one day."

The person in front of him didn't respond for a long time. Occasionally he looked up in surprise and found that Victor had covered his mouth with one hand, with tears flowing from the corner of his eyes.

"Wow, wow, wow... Thor actually cares about me so much. I'm so touched."

Thor got goosebumps looking at Victor.

How could he have such a brother? "Thank you, Thor. But my brother is a mediocre man waiting for death to come. It's better not to waste the treasure."

The strong wind that had been raging just now suddenly stopped, and the sky became darker, as if it had gone from dusk to late night.

Victor looked up at the sky, his expression hidden in drowsiness.

"It's going to rain hard soon, let's go inside the house and take shelter."

As he spoke, Victor gently plucked a string, and the bass was still ethereal and pleasant.

Thor was stunned for a moment, then nodded and said, "Okay, I don't think there's anything outside."

The two walked through the garden and came straight to the castle gate. Strangely, the gate was slightly ajar.

"It seems that many people have been here before us."

Thor turned around and pointed at Victor's harp, motioning him to keep quiet, then turned and pushed open the door.

The castle's lobby was dark, with some furniture such as lamp stands and chairs scattered on the floor.

There seemed to be windows in the hall, but they were completely blocked by heavy curtains.

Thor looked around carefully, but didn't see any figure or body, nor did he feel like anyone was watching him.

He then gestured to the people behind him and walked into the castle.

Victor followed in almost following Thor's footsteps which had not yet disappeared.

The next second after the two men stepped into the hall, the sky suddenly flashed, and the extremely white light shone through the door and the windows hidden by the velvet curtains. Thor seemed to see a person kneeling in the middle of the hall with his back to them.

The man was wearing armor and seemed to be a warrior.

But when the lightning passed and a huge thunder followed, the figure in the front hall disappeared.

“Hua La La—”

It was raining heavily.

Victor jumped forward to avoid the splashing raindrops.

He touched the harp in his arms with lingering fear, "Almost."

At this time, he found Thor still standing in front of him in a daze. He walked around curiously and waved his hand in front of Thor, "My unfortunate brother, are you petrified?"

Thor came back to his senses and pushed away Victor's hand that was blocking his view. "I just saw a man kneeling in front of me."

"Hmm?" Victor looked over in confusion, but saw nothing. However, this did not stop him from sighing, "Maybe it's a ghost lingering in the castle. There is no way to escape. I beg you to help him escape this fate."

As he spoke, Victor's fingers touched the strings again.

But he immediately remembered Thor's warning and forced himself not to make any sound from the harp.

"Ask me for help?" Thor curled his lips. "I came here to steal something. He picked the wrong person."

Thor walked forward carefully, came to the side of the figure he had just seen, squinted his eyes, and used semi-immersive meditation to look over again.

But there was still nothing on the ground.

"Has it left, or is it not a spirit?" Thor's expression became serious, and he was about to turn around and warn Victor to be more cautious.

However, at this moment, another huge flash of lightning flashed across.

Even standing inside the house, Thor could see the sky as bright as day.

He immediately lowered his head and looked over again, and was shocked to see countless figures kneeling in the front hall! Even at his feet and where Victor was, there was a person kneeling!

"Oh my god!" When Thor lowered his head, he saw a face.

The face had no eyes, no nose, no ears, only a wide-open mouth. The scar at the corner of the mouth was twisted and trembling, as if asking for help.

But the next second, with the sound of thunder, all the people kneeling in the hall disappeared.

"Bang!" The door was suddenly pushed open and two people jumped in as if fleeing.

"There's something wrong with this rain!" One of the short guys was desperately scratching his wet cheeks and neck, his fingertips already stained red.

The other figure was taller, and Thor saw that it was an old man with white hair.

The old man chanted a spell, cleaned the rain water off his body, and then cleaned up the little boy beside him.

Victor was standing not far from the two of them, smiling, as if waiting for them to discover him.

"Who?" The white-haired old man finally spotted Victor a few steps away, grabbed the boy by the collar, and retreated to the other side of the front hall.

Victor didn't do anything, but just walked behind Thor with a playful look on his face.

"Who are you?" The old man then saw Thor in the middle of the hall, and his eyes became even more alert.

"I'm here to take shelter from the rain as well." Thor looked at the old man with the same wariness.

The little boy was inconspicuous, but now his face was covered in blood and he was grimacing in pain.

That white-haired old man was not ordinary. The magical fluctuations he emitted when he cast the spell just now seemed to be strong enough for a third-level apprentice.

The white-haired old man frowned after hearing Thor's lies, but did not expose him.

His eyes lingered on Thor and Victor several times, and a smile gradually appeared on his face.

"Oh, it seems we have the same goal. But you are luckier than us and didn't get caught in the rain."

He walked to the window as if relaxed, opened the curtains and looked outside.

"This rain is not right. It feels itchy and painful when it hits my body." The white-haired old man lowered the curtains. "But it's normal. This is Ralph Manor, not a good place to take shelter from the rain."

"But now that we are here, we have to wait until the rain stops before we can go out." Thor nodded to the old man, "Then please rest here, we will go inside."

He stared at Victor opposite him with great interest, preparing to pass through the antechamber and continue deeper into the castle.

The old man was most likely a level three apprentice, while Thor and Victor were both level two, so they would easily suffer a loss against the old man.

When the other party saw that Thor was about to leave, he did not say anything to stop him, but just watched silently.

Instead, the little boy tugged at the old man's sleeve anxiously.

"Teacher, should we let them go in first?"

The white-haired wizard held him down, "Don't worry, Swan, let them turn around first."
