Chapter 38: Discovering the Blind Spot
Thor, with a head full of slime, continued to climb up while holding the box in his arms.
Perhaps some illusion was broken, he found that he had successfully reached the sixth floor of the East Tower. On the left was the rune wall that once made them, the newcomers, dizzy.
Even with Thor's current mental strength, he didn't dare to look any further.
For some reason, the blurry world became clear again, and he realized that there was a slight pain in his forehead.
Maybe it was because he bowed facing the wall too hard just now, resulting in a slight scratch on his forehead.
"Damage the enemy 100 times and lose 0.1 of your own. It's worth it."
He thought of another serious matter, "I have to go back and take a shower. I don't know if I will get infected."
However, the thing in his hand must be given to senior sister Kong Sha first. Thor doesn't want to sleep with a dead head in his arms.
Go back through the passage to the West Tower and continue up the ramp.
The sixth to ninth floors are the activity areas for first-level apprentices.
It was just after eight o'clock, and although the East Tower was as silent as a grave, the West Tower was still quite lively.
Some people saw Thor walking slowly upwards and began to discuss in low voices.
Some people also noticed the yellow leather in Thor's hand and looked at it with curiosity, but they did not dare to approach because of Thor's reputation.
Thor ignored the gazes around him and walked steadily, step by step.
After leaving the area for first-level apprentices, the tenth floor where the second-level apprentices were located returned to silence.
No one was hanging out in the hallways, chatting, or sharing insights from the day's studies.
The dormitory doors here seem to be closed regardless of day or night.
Thor tilted his head slightly.
He still remembered what he saw when he came to clean the corridor when he was still a servant.
The crying behind the door, the messy garbage, and the pool of blood...
It was really a pool of blood that changed his destiny.
However, before Thor could sigh further, a slight sound suddenly came from the front.
Thor immediately came to his senses and looked up at the ramp.
At the corner leading to the twelfth floor, a pair of black leather boots peeked out from the shadows.
I don't know how long I have been standing there.
Thor did not stop, but was on guard and walked forward slowly, his eyes slowly moving from his leather boots upwards.
The true face of the man standing at the corner slowly emerged.
It was West Germany, who had been away from the tower for more than a month.
He stared at Thor silently, with a gloomy look between his brows.
But when Thor approached, the corners of his mouth suddenly raised an exaggerated cold arc, "I see you, senior, may I say hello?"
"Hello, senior." Thor greeted honestly and even bowed slightly.
“…”
Sid didn't expect Thor to be so obedient. He was unlike the child who was almost killed by him a month ago.
After greeting, Thor continued to climb with a calm expression.
He had a polite smile on his face, but he was already on high alert in his heart.
The two of them approached, side by side, and were about to miss each other...
"Do you really think the instructor cares about the life and death of a first-level rookie? As long as someone more valuable appears, you will be trash that can be discarded at any time."
Thor tilted his head, so that he only reached Sid's chest. To see him from this angle, he needed to hold his chin high.
Thor smiled obediently. Although he didn't know what kind of weird picture this smile would turn into with the help of the mucus on his head, he still maintained a respectful tone.
"Thank you for your guidance, I will work hard to continuously improve my value."
Sid sneered, disdaining Thor's ignorant remarks.
“If talent could be compensated by hard work, there wouldn’t be so many bones of despair under our feet.”
Saul didn't refute, he just looked at Sid quietly.
"Will he attack me directly? It's not too late now, but there's no one around. It's a good opportunity."
But the hardcover book did not come out.
"Sid doesn't dare to do anything." Thor became calmer.
The other party ignored Thor, put his hands in his jacket pockets, and walked downstairs with three staggers.
Seems to be in a good mood.
Thor waited until Sid's figure disappeared before turning around and continuing walking.
"He doesn't dare, or can't, do anything to me." As he walked, Thor thought, "I should have thought of it earlier. He failed to kill me in the library, and then sent Brown to harm me. Sid has always wanted me dead!"
"But he never killed me directly." Thor's eyes became brighter and brighter. "It can't be because of the mentor. When I was still a servant, he didn't have to pay any price to kill me, but he still didn't do it!"
"Can't Sid kill people?"
This idea was immediately rejected by Thor.
Sid killed the fat guy who had bribed his way through in front of all the newcomers.
"Could it be that he...can't kill me?"
The more Thor thought about it, the more likely it seemed.
He glanced at the hardcover book out of the corner of his eye. "Sid is looking for a diary, and that diary is the same as the hardcover book on my shoulder. He may not want to kill me to silence me. He may want to kill me to find this hardcover book!"
Although this speculation is incredible, bizarre and unfounded, it can explain West Germany's strange behavior.
He wanted Thor dead, but he was unwilling to do it himself.
Thor stopped and stared at the small package in his hand, his consciousness already flying away.
Tonight is actually a great opportunity for West Germany.
Thor was holding a strange head in his hand, which was forbidden to be taken out, and there was unknown mucus hanging on the head.
If Sid killed him, he could completely blame Thor's death on the strange events that happened to him.
But Sid didn't take any action, he just made a few harmless sarcasm.
"If you kill the owner of the hardback book, you won't be able to get the hardback book!"
These words suddenly popped up in Thor's mind.
"If I'm not mistaken, Sid knows a lot about this hardcover book. But that's not right... If that were the case, why would he throw the hardcover book on my head?" Thor was a little worried. The hardcover book was too mysterious, but it didn't introduce itself. Thor had to rely on himself to figure out many things.
"No matter what, whether Sid knows about the Hardcover Book's ability to predict death or not, he and I are already fighting to the death. At the moment, I am not strong enough, so I can only counter his moves and ask for help from my boss."
Thor started up again.
"Sid will definitely make another move." After taking two steps, Thor suddenly stopped again, "Something is wrong. Sid's attitude today is not right."
When Sid saw Thor today, he was gloomy at first, but then he became cheerful.
He has already taken new actions.
Thor recalled what Sid had just said.
"Do you really think the instructor cares about the life and death of a first-level rookie? As long as someone more valuable appears, you will be trash that can be discarded at any time."
Mentor, newcomer, more valuable person…
Thor narrowed his eyes. "Cid went out this time to look for a new person...did he find someone who can replace me in the morgue?"
If it weren't for Mentor Kaz protecting Thor, Thor would not have had a month of respite.
But the premise for Thor to be given asylum was most likely because he was working for Mentor Kaz.
Instructor Kaz doesn't want his newly hired workers to die so soon.
But what if someone appears who is more suitable for the morgue than Thor? Mentor Kaz may not insist on leaving this job to Thor.
Saul didn't think that Kaz had much of a teacher-student relationship with him.
Especially when his skills in handling corpses became more and more proficient, this mentor rarely even came to the morgue to guide him.
It is not realistic to expect the tutor to protect him again because of their old friendship.
Thor looked down at the package in his hand and decided to quicken his pace to find the support he had just asked for.
I've done the work for you, you can't just stand by and watch him die, right?
Do you still need a brain? ...
Kongsha was not very happy that Saul came straight to her and knocked on her door.
She pulled Thor in and watched the boy stagger to the ground. His eyeballs in the glass case were stuck to the edge, red and bloodshot, and seemed like they would explode at any time.
"Why did you come up here directly?"
