Chapter 44: First Collaboration
Thor paused and stopped directly in front of Mark.
He didn't really want Mark to know that he knew Byron.
"Senior, I would like to ask you if there is any other way to earn credits."
"Don't you have enough credits?" Mark felt strange. As a new apprentice, how could he need so many credits?
However, he soon remembered that Thor wanted to study the transformation of witch bodies on his own, and the investment in this research would be a bottomless pit.
"Come in and talk."
Mark opened the door.
Senior Mark’s dormitory has the same structure as Kong Sha’s dormitory, but it is very messy inside, with the floor filled with unknown things.
There was only a small empty space by the long table, but there was only one chair.
Mark sat down on a chair, lifted a box with his feet and motioned for Thor to sit on it.
"In fact, with your current job, it's easy to earn more credits."
Thor looked up at Mark obediently.
"Have you heard of the Mutual Aid Society?"
Thor was startled and pretended to recall, "I heard about it from my classmates, but I was very busy at that time and didn't go."
Then he asked cautiously: "Senior...are you also a member of the mutual aid association?"
Mark waved his hand. "No, I'm not. The mutual aid association is actually a small group formed by a third-level apprentice and several second-level apprentices. But the second-level apprentices are usually the ones who manage it."
Mark's familiar mocking smile appeared on his face again, "It's called mutual assistance, but the newcomers are all exploited when they go there."
"However, the Mutual Aid Association also organizes some interesting things, such as exchange meetings. The goods are cheaper than those in the college's registration office. If you have goods, you can sell them there and make some money."
"Do you have any goods?" Thor asked tentatively, "You mean, I should sell the things in the morgue? But, didn't the instructor forbid me?"
"You are a newcomer, so you naturally lack the means, but you can clearly mark the price and let those who are interested find a way to take it away."
Thor was a little hesitant about the proposal.
He wanted to go to the exchange meeting if he had a chance, but the parasites that Keli encountered last time were a big problem.
It might be safe for a senior like Mark Byron to go to the exchange meeting, but those people might harm him because he is a newcomer.
It would be nice if this exchange allowed anonymous participation.
But on second thought, there are only a limited number of apprentices in the wizard tower, and even if everyone is masked, it would be easy for people to guess his origins.
What if someone reports this to Mr. Kaz... Well, some things can be done secretly, but it's not so good to do them out in the open.
"Thank you, Senior. I will think about this carefully."
Mark saw Saul's worry and comforted him, "Don't worry about it. The last person who was in charge of your job was always selling things at the exchange meetings. And the people who bought his things would keep his secrets for the sake of continuing cooperation in the future."
Thor asked with a hint of expectation: "Senior, do you need anything?"
Mark couldn't help but roll his eyes.
"Do you think you have what I need?"
Saul thought that he might really have it, but there was no need to expose it in front of Mark in a hurry.
After leaving Mark's dormitory, Thor went straight back to the second floor of the East Tower.
Let’s postpone the visit to Senior Byron.
Thor planned to find a time when no one was around and slip a note to Byron telling him to meet on the second floor of the East Tower.
I hope that Senior Byron will be interested in the models constructed with other composite runes that he has.
Compared to the exchange meeting which is fraught with danger, Senior Byron is more reliable.
Two days passed and Thor still hadn't seen senior Byron, even though he had already slipped the note into Byron's dormitory.
"He hasn't left yet?"
Thor's refining materials have been completely used up, and he has a few more plastic bones in his hands, but there is still no substantial progress in the transformation of his wizard body.
In his free time, he has successfully performed the 0th-level sorcery "Strike the Undead".
If Senior Byron had already left the Wizard Tower, Thor would rather smuggle materials from the morgue than exchange his experience with other strangers.
At this moment, the door of the morgue was suddenly knocked.
Thor was a little surprised. Teacher Kaz had just come yesterday, and normally he would come again in four or five days.
Who would come to see him now?
When Thor opened the door, it turned out to be the cold senior who had replaced Byron's job.
The other party still raised his chin and looked at people.
"Come here and help me."
After saying that, she turned and walked back, as if she was sure that Thor would follow her.
Thor hesitated for half a second, then closed the door and followed.
It was the first time he entered the first morgue.
As soon as he stepped in, he was shocked by the scene inside.
This place is completely different from his morgue, or rather, it is not called a morgue at all.
It's more like a scene of shaman dance.
The top of the head and the surrounding walls are covered with black lines, and between the lines are runes of varying sizes.
The ground was lit with candles of varying heights, some lit and some extinguished. Between the candles, there were also magic circles drawn whose purpose was unclear.
There were three sarcophagi in the middle of the room, each of which was wide open, with three corpses standing inside.
It is normal to see dead bodies in the morgue.
But these three corpses here gave Thor a very bad feeling.
They were able to stand there without any restraints, and if Thor had not seen the obvious fatal wounds on their bodies, he would have easily thought that they were three living people standing there with their eyes closed.
"These are the three new ones sent in today." The senior student stood at the door with her hands behind her back, "But there is a problem. The second-level apprentice in the middle..."
The senior student raised her hand and pointed at the body in the middle, which was chopped from the shoulder to the chest by a sharp weapon.
"He brought an evil spirit with him. If we don't get rid of the evil spirit, none of the materials on this body can be used."
"But the evil spirit is very cunning. Every time I want to kill him, he will immediately move to the other two bodies. And once my witchcraft changes the target, I have to start all over again."
Dealing with evil spirits?
Thor thought to himself, "I wonder if the skill I just learned to fight the undead will be useful?"
But on the surface, he said: "Senior sister, I don't have any means to deal with the evil spirits yet..."
"Of course I know." The senior sneered, "I just asked you to help me determine the location of the evil spirit and tell me at the last minute of the spell, so that he won't run away again and cause a lot of trouble."
The senior student raised her hand and threw something to Thor.
Thor took it and looked down, and saw that it was a piece of soft leather.
I don't know what material the leather is made of, but it is white and delicate, warm to the touch, and has a hint of floral fragrance when it smells.
There were two small holes in the middle of the leather, with the distance between the holes being about half a palm's width.
There are no magic runes drawn on the leather.
"Put this mask on your face and sit in the magic circle in the corner, then you can see the location of the evil spirit. Go quickly and don't waste time." Sister Binglengxue urged impatiently.
"Senior, I..."
The other party interrupted Thor again, "Got it, you want a reward, right? Wait until the evil spirit is dealt with. You can take away any of the other two first-level apprentice bodies. I will write it down in the task register that I only accepted the bodies of one first-level apprentice and one second-level apprentice today."
Can you actually take a corpse away directly? Thor always felt that it was too much for him to embezzle some materials from time to time.
I didn't expect that this second-level apprentice sister would deliver a complete corpse without blinking an eye.
The bodies sent to the morgue all had some abnormalities on them and could not be buried directly. But if they were handled well, these abnormal parts would be the best dark attribute materials.
It can be said to be very valuable.
Thor can get so much reward just by helping his senior observe the location of the evil spirits?
Could it be that this mission itself is actually very dangerous? For example, the evil spirit might attack Thor.
"Senior, can I ask you why you didn't look for Senior Hayden, but came to me instead?"
I was sick two days ago and my stored manuscripts are running out.
Today is Tuesday, please read on, sir!!! Please turn to the last page!!!
